Chapter 1

Mason and Lily sat at the table looking at me, and Lilly said, "What do you think, Amelia? Do you want to tell their story? The original book about what had happened is a best seller, and the readers would love to know about the souls who passed here."

"What happened to let the dead stay dead?" I asked.

Lily said, "It would be a way to honor the dead. You do not have to start with him or the family. You could start with the others."

"If I did this, I would have to start from the beginning, including him," I said. "If it weren't for him, we would not have had all this happen."

*************************************************************

Mason sighed and said, "Well you could start with Elinor and keep him as a back ground character. You never had to speak about him directly if you don't want to. Think about it Amelia you know as well as I did you love to write and now that you have to stay calm and settled you can have something to do while I am handling the day to day operations."

My hand fluttered to my stomach and I said, "Can I say maybe and tinker with the idea for now?"

Lily said, "Of course. You can also write about the weddings on the Farm if you want."

Smiling I said, "Lily you know I love you and your part of the family. Spit it out what is going on?"

She sighed and said, "I am worried about you. Since you lost the baby you have been very depressed. Dad was worried about you before he passed. He says he knows you and Mason are the hero's in the story of the Farm. But he also thinks you feel responsible for everything that had happened since you were born. That was never on you that was on Jerimiah and you cannot feel that weight. You have done so much to honor the deaths of everyone on the land. Hell even tomorrow you have the memorial vigil planned. You need to heal as much as the souls."

Mason leaned over and said, "Losing the baby had nothing to do with where we live or what we had to do. Even Rebecca has said the same thing. If you will not listen to us listen to your Grandma."

Taking his hand I gave a small smile and said, "I know that mentally Mason. It will take some time that is all. Let me think about it alright?"

He kissed my forehead and said, "Alright. Are you alright to be alone for a while. My Mom wanted help with doing inventory in the store?"

Smiling I said, "Of course. There is only some showings today for weddings and my crew has those handled."

Lily said, "I will swing by later this week and we will have lunch."

I took her hand and squeezed it. As she left she called out, "Bye everyone!"

Chuckling as she always greeted the ones who visited us time to time even if they did not appear. Standing up I looked out the window and saw both Lily and Mason leave.

The chimes in the kitchen sounded and I turned to see Jackson standing by the door. He gave me a smile and said, "Good morning Amelia."

"Good morning to you," I said. "Did Grandma send you over to check on me?"

He chuckled and said, "No but she is worried about you. I am here because I listened in on what Lily and Mason suggested. When I was alive I was not one for books so much. That was my Mom and Rebecca but I think that it would be a good thing for you. You know my Father was not always a monster. Before the war he was a good man and did so much good for the people in the area. What happened to him we do not know but it would be a good way for you to honor those who passed here. Everyone has a story and you could be the voice that tells it. The voice to all those who were related to the farm and how it affected them."

"You do realize that is over one hundred and fifteen people?" I said.

He chuckled and said, "Well its a good thing you are young and have time. You can include Jerimiah if you want or not. If you do ever find out what happened to him I would love to know. I bet you will have some interesting stories about the people who passed. Not saying you have to do it but you never know what you might uncover."

"Thank you Grandpa," I said. "I am definitely thinking about it."

I watched him fade into nothing. Grabbing a sweater I walked outside and decided to walk the memorial path around the venue. As it passed the fence line near the cemetery I saw Mike looking over the property and he called out to me, "Amelia dear what brings you out here today?"

Smiling I said, "Gathering my thoughts."

"Well that is a good things sometimes," He said. "How are you feeling today? We all have been worried about you since your loss."

"I will heal," I said. "Mike can I ask you a question?"

"You know you can," He said.

"Why did so many of you stay?" I asked. "You know all of you are welcome. But why didn't you cross over or go to your afterlife?"

We sat on the bench along the pathway and he said, "Well Amelia that is a great question. For me I was a single man in life and I feel this land is my home. Some may be scared to move on. But I can tell you a lot of us love the land and are very happy here. Why do you ask?"

"Lily and Mason had suggested that I write a book about everyone who had passed," I said. "The true story about what happened here was very popular and they thought a story about the people here would be a good read."

Mike said, "Well I think that is a splendid idea."

"You do?" I asked.

"Of course," He said. "I wasn't always a hired hand. Did you know Pablo was a professor in Mexico before he came to Florida? We all have stories and who better than you to tell them."

Sighing I said, "So you don't think I would have to start at the beginning?"

"Not at all," Mike said. "Start with the ones here that are still alive. All those years we were here, all the spirits talked with each other and I am sure you could piece together a book or three."

I chuckled and said, "Well The Farm did do well. Maybe I should write about everyone."

Mike smiled and said, "Then you have your answer Amelia."

Smiling I said, "Well Mike I am going to continue my walk. I will see you later."

"Take care Amelia," He said.

Walking through the property I saw the new garden was doing quite well. As I got to the back of the property I saw Jackson walk through the field to meet Rebecca under the tree. Walking along the path I saw some of the other spirits here and there. When I got back to the house I sat inside and looked over the list of names of everyone who had passed after being affected by the property. Thinking about who I would write about first I got a call from my Mom.

Picking up I said, "Hey Mom."

"Hey sweetheart how are you?" She asked.

"I am doing better," I said. "What are you up to?"

She chuckled and said, "I am taking a break from cleaning out the attic. I called to tell you I have something for you."

"Oh," I said. "What is that?"

"All your Mom's journals from high school," She said.

I started laughing and said, "Well it seems fate has something it wants me to do. Lily wants me to write  book about everyone who was affected by the farm. The Farm is having record sales. She suggested writing about the people who were affected by the property as so many people want to know."

"Do you think you can handle that," She asked.

"For some of them," I said. "There was over a hundred people who were affected by the farm Mom. Even Jackson agrees that it could be a good idea."

"Well sweetheart," She said. "Listen to your Grandfather then. Besides people like Mantis would be an interesting read."

I chuckled and said, "That is true. Maybe I should read Mom's journals and see what information I could find."

"Well I will drop the journals off when I come to work in the greenhouse later this week," She said. "Let me go ahead and get back to the attic while its cool outside. I love you sweetie."

"Love you to Mom," I said as she ended the call.

A few days later my Mom dropped off Clara's journals. Sitting on the front porch to my house I read through Clara's writing. I smiled as I started to read Clara's thoughts about life and growing up. I read the journals as her writing went from that of a young child to a young woman.

The first journal Clara started as a young girl of ten years old. She would tell stories about living on her parents Conner and May's farm. She would write about her Mom's love for cooking and preserving food. Then she would write about her Dad's love for growing plants and crops. Her childhood was that of a farm girl who loved to learn and wanted to one day live on the farm with her own family.

As I read through the journals I read as Clara grew up. From a young girl who loved all aspects of the farm to a young teen who loved art, writing and showing her horse. Reading more of the journals I discovered that Clara loved the horse shows and showing off her prized quarter horse Winter awards from winning shows.

Clara mentioned my Mom so many times as she grew up. It dawned on me how much Mom and Clara were like sisters. Knowing how much pain my Mom must had felt with Clara passing put things into a larger perspective.

The days passed as I read about Clara growing up and starting high school with my Mom. Clara put so much detail into her experiences I thought I was watching her in a movie. When I started the third journal my heart stopped. She had in big letters MY PARENTS GROUNDED ME FOR GOING TO THE MURDER FARM. Clara wrote I cannot believe my parents found out that I went to the murder farm. I bet it was that old man who lives across the way who ratted me out. I went to the graveyard that lines the property with Timmy and we just walked the graveyard. When I got home Mom and Dad grounded me. Mom said they asked me to never go near that place and going to the graveyard could put us in danger. When I questioned why it was so bad she got quiet. Dad said that we were related to the family that died there and people go missing on the property year after year. When I asked why can't I go there then. Can you believe that he said because the monster that lives there will kill any living family members. It made me laugh my Dad believes in ghosts.

I sat there processing what I had read. If only my Mom knew that those very ghosts would be who took her from me. Sighing I put the journal down and got up to look out the window. Sighing I said, "Mom do you know how close you came to Jerimiah getting you sooner than he did?"

A quiet voice said, "Sweet girl you know your mother was a young child at the time. Even if I heard the story back in my time I would have probably laughed at it as well."

Turning I saw Rebecca sitting in a chair. I said, "Until I heard the story I the farm I would have probably laughed as well. After going through everything we have been through I getting the chills even now when people do not want to run away from danger."

Rebecca let out a loud laugh as she said, "Granddaughter if you ran away from danger we would still be trapped by that madman."

"Sometimes it takes a clear disregard for your safety to protect and save those you love," Said Jackson from the doorway.

Rebecca stood up and said, "Your a prime example my love. Lifting your heavily pregnant wife through a window as your madman father is killing your entire family."

He kissed her forehead and said, "I would do it all over again if it meant we had forever."

THE FARM, A NEW BEGINNING (3 book series)

Chapter 1

Sitting on the patio looking over the property, I saw vendors arriving for today's wedding in the pavilion. Smiling, I saw the workers meet them to sign them in before they could set up. Mason came out and kneeled next to me, kissing my now-showing belly. He said, "You're up early today. Could you not sleep?"

Taking his hand, I said, "No, late last night, I noticed the date, and I couldn't sleep."

He sighed and said, "Amelia, it's been five years. Kylie and the coven have been here with the elders. You know they would tell us if they thought there was any danger. He is gone, and there is no reason to worry. Besides, the ones who are here all stayed because they love the land."

"I know," I said. "I walked to the graveyard over the fence and visited our friends. They all say that he is gone. I guess it's just my nerves and being pregnant."

Mason smiled and said, "Things will be alright this time. Besides we have less then four months till our baby gets here. Let's not think about unhappy things."

Smiling back I said, "I know. Oh I heard from Lily the story of the dead books one and two are doing fantastic. The rest of the stories she will also be releasing soon."

"See," He said. "Even more reason to celebrate. Now I am running out to the store and will be back in time to help here before the wedding and the bridal showers. Do you want anything on my way back?"

Giving a huge smile I said, "You know what I want."

Laughing he said, "A large chick fila fries, and a vegetarian burrito from Miguel's extra sour cream and guacamole."

"Do not forget my strawberry lemonade," I called out as he went to his car.

Getting out of the chair I walked over to the pavilion and greeted the vendors I know and got cards for the new vendors coming in. Walking over to the barn I opened the doors and heard, "Amelia we got the windows do not be over doing it."

Looking over my shoulder I saw Grace my assistant come over and she instructed two of the workers to open the windows. I asked, "How are the preparations in the event room and out here going?"

"Good," She said. "The event rooms only has the bridal shower today and then we have the bridal shower in here and the pavilion wedding. I will let you know that the Mom of the groom for the wedding is upset we do not offer rooms for the groom to get ready here."

Sighing I asked, "Did you tell her that was an option and the bridal party declined and it is in the contract from the start?"

"I did," She said. "She said that we should have offered your private home and she will speak with you when she gets here. Don't worry I will handle it."

"Well remind her when the bride and groom did their walk around," I said. "We did tell them they could rent an additional room inside the event room building at an additional charge for the evening. But they both insisted on getting ready else where."

Grace said, "Got it."

We saw a car pull in and a young man and his mother got out. Walking over to her I asked, "Can I help you?"

"I am here to speak to you about my son's wedding today," She said.

"Mom, Dan and Kate said not to do this," The young man said.

"Oh," I said. "Your the one who got mad that there is no rooms for the groom and groomsmen to relax in."

"Yes," She said. "What are you going to do about it?"

"Nothing," I said. "When Dan and Kate came to book the venue we did offer a room in the event rooms building to get ready for either the bride or the groom or both. They declined the offer as it was not what they wanted. When we confirmed the arrangements two weeks ago I did remind them we had two rooms still available at additional costs and they reconfirmed its not what they wanted. So is there anything else?"

"I want to speak with your manager," She said.

"I am the owner," I said. "Now if you do not leave and not come back till the wedding I will be forced to bother Dan or Kate you do not want that do you?"

The younger man turned and said, "I am so sorry she wanted to start trouble Dan and Kate are excited about being married here. Our mother is being unreasonable because its not how she wants things done."

Nodding I said, "It's alright. Your brother and Kate are valued clients. Both the bridal shower and stag party were held here. We hope to provide many services for years to come."

The younger man nodded and said, "Come on Mom you do not want to upset Dan or he will ban you from the wedding."

After they left Grace whistled and said, "Man I thought my Mother in law was a Karen. What are you going to do?"

"Nothing," I said. "Kate was worried her mother in law would try things. I do not want to stress her on her wedding day. But let security know to keep an eye on things to have the day go smoothly."

Grace nodded and said, "I will get the team working the wedding up to speed."

Nodding I said, "Good. I will be floating between all the events today checking in. I will be watching the wedding and I know the other events are small or very family oriented."

"Well then let's feed you and the baby so you have energy," Mason said coming up to me with a bag of food. Handing a second one to Grace he said, "Your favorite spicey chicken and thank you for taking on so much while Amelia is supposed to be resting."

Grace smiled and said, "Thank you Mason. Now I don't have to call Carrie to bring me food before the events start."

Smiling I said, "Now you can eat and call her to chat. Give her our best."

Mason put his arm around my waist an we walked towards the house. I asked, "How did it go at the store?"

"It went alright," He said. "Grandma is having issues with the stairs. Dad is suggesting she get one of the chair lifts that install but honestly I am not sure the walls can handle it."

"We need to figure out what to do," I said. "Since Mack passed she said she will not leave the shop. That shop is a legend in the beach area and it goes to you and your Dad. I know both of you will run it if anything happened to Connie. I would invite her to stay here but you know she only comes out here in small spurts."

Sighing he said, "It would be easier if she was here more. But we know how much she does not like coming here."

Stopping I said, "What about Macks old workshop at the store? It is essentially a whole other section of the building that is sitting empty. It has plumbing and a big bathroom. What is we were to remodel it and make it into a apartment for her and then she would not have to use the stairs."

He stopped and said, "That is not a bad idea. Let me call Dad and see what he thinks. I know Mom and him have contemplated moving closer to Grams and if they built the apartment downstairs then they could remodel upstairs and move up there."

Lifting my eyebrow I said, "I thought your mom wanted to retire?"

"She does," Mason said. "She wants to retire to paint along the beach and water. Well she would be living in a place she can bike and paint. She could even sell her paintings in the shop."

The Dream Sequence (3 book series)

Ever since I was a child I had vivid dreams and nightmares. I read once that things you see in your dreams you would have to have seen in real life or learned about somewhere. Those dreams have been the base of some of my stories. But what happens when those dreams seem a little to real. Like the actions in those dreams seep into real life. When I saw seep into real life, this is what I mean. One night I was tossing and turning in my sleep. In the dream I was having I was running through the wood being chased by a creature I could not really see, but I could see the movement in the brush of the woods. When my partner woke me up I had leaves in my hair. I had not left the bed or the house.

I have had dreams where I believe that  I have been transported to other locations before in my dreams. I believe I have dreamt of meeting my partner in a dream before and he does not remember it. I cannot mention it to him as I am afraid that the darkness that are in those dreams could hurt him and I do not want him to be harmed.

My dreams as of late have been nothing but exhausting. Although I do not remember them I wake up exhausted and have trouble getting up in the morning. This past weekend I have slept till noon each time. I am hoping that I can start to figure out what I am going through as I would like to get things done without sleeping and being late for work.

The last dream I dozed off to sleep and woke up in my bed with my partner beside me, but something seems off. Our bedroom in reality is small but waking up there is extra room around us. Walking through the house there are things that seem off. Paintings on the wall we do not own or little decorations that we have in different places in the house. Walking into the bathroom I see the door across from it that leads outside. The door is a different door and when I open it instead of stairs it has a patio. Beyond that instead of empty lots  our home is fifteen feet from the woods. The problem with this is our home is just blocks from down town.

Going inside I shut and lock the door behind me. Since I was up I went into my office to start my day. Sitting at my desk I noticed everything around it was different. My drink stash was already out and my laptop was open. As I have cats I always make it a point to close my laptop every night as the cats think it is a butt warmer. The drinks set up were drinks that I would not drink as well. I always have water, tea, coffee and sometimes a pop. Sitting next to my desk was a cappuccino and red bulls.

Sitting at my desk I took the red bulls and got up to put them in the fridge. When I walked into the kitchen my partner came out of the room and said, "Hey babe does the house seem off to you?"

"It does," I said. "I went into the office and my office was set up with a bunch of different drinks that I do not even drink."

He took a Red Bull from my hand and said, "We do not even buy these?"

"I know," I said. "There is also a cappuccino sitting at my desk."

He raised his eyebrows and said, "You do not drink cappuccino's unless we are at a fancy restaurant."

Nodding I said, "Babe look out the back door we are now fifteen feet from the woods."

He gave me a look and went out the back door. I followed him out and he said, "We live three blocks from downtown how are we backed up to the state forest?"

"State forest?" I said.

"Listen babe," He said. I sat with him and heard the sounds of the river flowing. "So how did the river move twenty miles closer to our house?"

My alarm for work went off and I sighed, saying, "Listen we will figure it out I have so much to do at work today."

The Great Escape (stand alone)

When you realize everything that you have been going through is not your fault. That asking for the love and affection you deserve is not being needy of clingy but a natural want and need. When the person your with has so many demons that you are tired of fighting them all, when they would not fight for themselves or you. The one person you love with your heart and soul does not love you enough to fight for you. Finding the strength to get out will be hard and you have to time plan it just right because if not you will be stuck in the same cycle you have been in. You also do not want to hurt the other person because you do love them but sometimes love is not enough.

When I met Jacob it was love at first sight. Besides being handsome you could see what a good heart he had. We started talking and before long had entered into a solid relationship. We had similar interests and wanted the same thing in life. As we started dating I was honest that I could not possibly have kids by normal means and he was alright with that. He also knew I had children who lived with their father and I would have to communicate with my ex-husband due to the kids.

For months we were fine as I helped him through things he had to go through and we settled into a quiet life together. Things were perfect. One night right after we were together for six months the first incident happened. We had just gotten home from playing pool and he was in a bad mood due to stuff that happened while we were out. When we got home he got angry and threw a fit.

I said, "Jacob what is wrong?"

He shouted back, "Oh you don't know, so I guess you were not paying attention huh?"

Looking at him I said, "I have no clue what happened. I stayed at our table when you went outside for a smoke and you did not say anything to me about anything. We were fine until we got home."

Jacob
