🌞788🌞 Becoming the Donna (150 book series)

Sitting on the porch of my small cabin up the mountain, I watched as the motorcade came up the mountain towards me. Sighing, I said, "So it begins."

When the motorcade pulled into my circular driveway, the main car stopped at the stairs to the cabin. I leaned against the post, and a gentleman in a dark suit got out and looked at me. He looked lost for words and finally sighed as he said, "I need your help, Mimi."

"Not even a hello," I said. "It's been three years, and you come to me and ask for help."

"You're right," He sighed. "I have been an ass, Mimi, and I should have visited after you left."

He walked up to me, and I looked in his eyes, seeing pain that was not there a few years ago. I was always a sucker and put out my arms for a hug and said, "Fuck you, Lucas."

He pulled me in for a hug and held on like a man holding onto a lifeline. He whispered into my hair, "Mimi, I messed up, and I need your help."

I whispered, "Tell the boys to relax, you all look like hell."

He went to say something, and I stepped around him, "Hey, boys."

I heard a chorus of, "Miss Mimi."

"Let me talk to the boss man inside," I said. "Relax a bit, and I will bring out some food for you in a few."

I took Lucas' hand and pulled him into the cabin. I pointed to the stool in the kitchen as I asked, "On a scale of fucked to we need God's intervention, how bad is it?"

He groaned and said, "We need a divine miracle at this point."

I gathered food to cook for the guys and asked, "Why did you come to me, Lucas?"

He looked down and said, "How much are you watching what is happening in the old city?"

"Honestly," I replied as I put together grilled cheese sandwiches. "Not much at all. When I left, I did not look back. Why?"

"Promise me you will not shoot me," He asked.

"Go on," I said.

"The day you were supposed to marry Simon, you were smart and took off at the right time. When he showed up with Jenna pregnant at his wedding, we all knew it was never going to happen. When you left, I pulled him aside and asked him what he thought he was doing. When you sent the text that you were going to your special spot and that you did not want to be bothered, I respected you for it. Simon asked where you went, and I told him as far away from you as you could be. He married Jenna on the spot, and for the next three years, he has done everything to try to take over as the head of the city."

"He is an unstable prick, Lucas," I replied. "How high is the body count?"

"In the thousands now," He said. None of the other families wants to go toe to toe with him."

"How do I play in this?"

"You are the Donna of the Corrarizi family," He said. "Your boys listen when you tell them to follow my orders, and they have been amazing. All your cousins have been following orders. But Nico is starting to stir a bit, and he is starting to side with Simon. Worst thing is, he is starting to question your position as the Donna of your family."

Stirring the soup on the stove, I started to cook the sandwiches, thinking. Looking up at Lucas, I asked, I have to come home and get married, don't I?"

He sighed and said, "Yeah its the only way to stop Nico and to fight Simon."

I took the soup off the stove and added cream. Getting out paper plates and bowls, I asked Lucas, "Who the fuck am I gonna marry?"

"Me," He said. "I am the Don of the Mariana family. If we join forces, we can bring peace back to the city and stop this shit they are causing."

"Well, shit," I said. "Do you still have that gourmet kitchen?"

He chuckled and said, "Sure do, and I have accounts set up for all the stores so you can stock the kitchen to your preferences."

"Call the boys in, I will have to start packing," I said.

He placed a ring on my finger and kissed my forehead as he said, "It will be a real marriage, Mimi."

"Yeah," I said. "I hope you have stamina."

He went flushed as he went to the door and said, "Come in, boys, Mimi made Grilled cheese and tomato soup."
