I sat on the couch in my families home looking at the screen on the TV. There were the faces of my parents smiling but also with sadness behind there eyes. I felt like I was zoning out. I felt a squeeze on my shoulder and I looked up to see my older brother Chris.
"Hey Kiddo scooch over so I can sit down," He said.
"Your home," I said moving over. "I thought you had to leave after the funeral."
"Of course I am brat," He laughed. "You have a month till you turn 18 and need someone to keep you in line till them."
"Thank god you want her because I sure as hell don't," Said a voice walking into the room.
Looking up my sister Kaylie and her husband Jasper walked in. Jasper looked down his nose at us and sat as far away as he could. Chris looked at her and said, "Kaylie I hope you were not here snooping your about ready for a shock."
"You sure about that Chris," She said. "Thank god they are gone."
"Wow Kaylie I am so happy to know that even with our parents dying your still a bitch about Gabby," He said. "She never did anything to you."
"She was born that's enough," She said. "Mom would still be married to Dad if he didn't knock up her Mom."
"Kaylie Dad and Mom were divorcing well before Dad met Isabella," Chris said. "She was more of a Mom than ours ever was. Just because Mom bought you a guilt house doesn't mean she didn't lie."
She rolled her eyes and looked away. Now before we go any further Chris and Kaylie are my half siblings. My Dad Mike met my mom a week after he filed for divorce for Chris and Kaylie's Mom. However, they did not go on their first date until after the divorce was final. Six months from their first date they discovered I was coming. They married and were together until they were taken from us a week ago.
Mr. Kline my parents lawyer came in and said, "I guess we will start."
Kaylie said, "About time. Can you just tell me what's mine so we can leave?"
"Your about to learn Kaylie," He said as he turned and hit play on the screen.
Dad's face came onto the screen and he smiled saying, "Well if this video is playing Isabella and I died together. I will say at least I died with the love of my life. But now comes the legal stuff. I want to say first and foremost this will cannot be contested. Isabella and I made this will with a judge and well since most of the stuff in the house is hers we will just let Mr. Kline hash out the specifics. Chris I will trust you will keep an eye on Gabby and Kaylie know your little sister was not the reason me and your mom split. Ask her who Lou is. I love you all more than anything."
Mom came onto the screen and she smiled, "Chris I have always thought of you as the son I never had. Thank you for letting me be a large part of your life. I am so proud of you and for the path you have taken. Thank you for helping with Gabby till she turns eighteen and finishes high school. Kaylie I am sorry you never believed I cared for you. You blamed me for things that were not my fault but know I love you and I hope you learn never to depend on anyone but yourself. Gabby sweetheart I love you more than anything and I can't wait to see what happens in the next stage of your life. I hope you find the love of your life like I have."
My mom blew a kiss to the screen and Mr. Kline stopped the video. He sat down and said, "There are two wills and we will handle your Dads first. This is the last will and testament of Mike Mitchel. First to the custody of Gabby. Gabby Chris has arranged with the military to take a leave to take care of you and help you go through the estate. You'll understand more about that shortly. Chris your parents arranged for a stipend for the care of your sister till she turns eighteen and graduates high school. The amount of the stipend was discussed by you and your parents when they updated their will so we do not need to discuss that. As for inheritance Chris your Dad leaves you his Harley and the 67 Impala. Both are in your name now and here are the titles along with a check for $50000. Also I sent a email to your commander about the compassionate leave and what your doing. He emailed me prior to me walking in and he said everything is set up and to please follow up with him after we are done as you may have to sign some forms for your three month leave."
Chris nodded and said, "Thank you for getting all that set up as soon as you could. I appreciate it."
"What about me," Kaylie asked.
Mr. Kline said, "Kaylie your Dad wants first to pass a message to you. You should not have to deal with how your husband acts and deserve more than how he treats you. Since you wed he has had 4 confirmed affairs. I have the proof if you want to open your eyes. That being said here is a check for $50,000 and this was your Great Grandmothers dowery jewelry from the 1920's. For Gabby you get a check for $250,000 that is the $50000 and your college fund."
"That's it?" She cried. "What about the house and the cars. All the things in this house. Hell all of the attic and basement is full of stuff. What about Isabella's jewelry and money."
Mr. Kline sighed and said, "That was from your father's estate. Isabella owns everything else. She owned the home and some of the cars before she married your Dad. Everything else was from her money from her job. Your Dad had not worked in over ten years due to health issues."
She stood up and said, "Bull shit. Dad paid for my wedding to Jasper."
Chris looked up and said, "No Isabella paid for your wedding."
She looked sick and said, "No that's not true."
Mr. Kline looked at his records and said, "Yes it is. I handled the contracts so your Mom could not make changes."
She started to get stubborn and said, "What about Dads life insurance?"
Mr. Kline said, "That check is what you get from it. Now onto Isabella's estate."
Chris said, "Wait. Gabby listen I know what is about to be said. You need to listen to me I am aware of the plan and agree with Mom and Dad."
Mr. Kline smiled and said, "Gabby your Mom has a message for you."
Mom's face filled the screen and she smiled, "My sweet girl. I wish I could see you grow into the woman you strive to be daily. But fate did not agree with my plans. But my passing will lead to your future. Follow your dream of writing you have a great talent. Keep posting to your blog and write that book. That is why I am setting you up for success. Mr. Kline please remind Gabby to breathe as you continue. I love you sweetheart."
Mr. Kline turned to me and said, "Okay Gabby as your Mom said you need to breathe. Her will is combined with your Grandparents and Great Grandparents estates. Your Great Grandma Irene left you a total of 750 thousand dollars. Your great Grandma Connie left you a total of 375 thousand. Your Grandma Carol left you 2.5 Million and your Grandpa Teddy left you 1.2 million. Now for your Mom's estate. Chris Isabella left you this check of 250,000. You talked before she passed from her injuries. She left you a note which was sent to your commander to read after Gabby turns eighteen. Kaylie Isabella left you a check for $50,000 with this message. "Kaylie I love you. You blamed your Dad but it was your Moms fault and she is the one who lied. Your Dad loved you your whole life when he was not even your Dad's. Know I love you even if you never were fond of me."
Kaylie looked at Chris and asked, "Did you know?"
Chris nodded and said, "Yes I did. I found out by mistake but yes I found out about two months ago."
Mr. Kline cleared his throat and said, "This is where things get complicated. Gabby your mom left you in cash a total of 5.9 million dollars. Now the complicated part your mom has all the family heirlooms stuffed in the attic and basement. All the items are yours in the house. Your mom and Dad wants you to travel and write. So everything must go. Your parents arranged for a storage unit with the law office. You have immediate access to store things. However be aware the storage units only hold up to ten trunks and a few boxes for storage. The instructions on how to access the storage will given to you after everyone leaves. The sale of all the remaining items, house and cars will be at your discretion. Your to use this money to travel and learn. Besides the money which you get the day you turn eighteen you will receive a trust on the day you turn thirty of another five million dollars. All the large amounts are in multiple accounts and cards. You cannot share the money its solely for travel use per your parents will. If not it will go into a trust fund to get when you turn thirty. Gabby your white, breathe sweetie."
Kaylie stood up and screamed, "We get nothing and she gets to travel the world. I will contest this will."
Chris looked up and said, "You can but after since your not even Dads biological kid you will not receive anything from Isabella's estate."
Mr. Klein stood up and said, "I will walk you out Kaylie as I need the movers to bring the trunks in along with Gabby's' Suit case and travel backpack."
Kaylie stomped out and Chris asked, "Are you alright Gabby."
"No," I said. "I would rather have mom and dad instead of the money. They want me to travel and write?"
Chris chuckled and said, "We all do. Your talented Gabby. Your blog gets a ton of hits and your already making money from it. You left your blog statement out and I saw you have money in it. now your going to have a bunch of new content and your can write books based on your adventures and take a lot of pictures."
"What about your job?" I asked.
"Its okay Gabby," He said. "We arranged with my command. I have three months furlough to help get you settled."
Mr. Kline walked in and he said, "Okay Gabby this house is going to go to 10 four foot by two foot by three foot trunks and this bag and travel backpack."
"How am I going to sell all of this and Chris what about your job. How do I pay bills?" I started panic.
Chris took my hands and said, "These are your cards for each of your large inheritances. Now these are credit cards that mom and dad put in your name two years ago. They made purchases on them and paid them off to get you set up for travel. We will transfer them to your name after you turn eighteen and I will show you how to handle everything. Now for everything you sell we will put that in your personal checking account. You have two and a half months till you graduate and we will get you ready to go. But not today. Today we are just going to relax now that the funeral is over and order some pizza and vegetate."
Mr. Kline said, "Gabby you know where my office is correct?"
"Yes," I said.
He handed me a pass and said, "This is a key card for the bottom floor which has offices that run 24 hours a day. If you make a right and follow the hall your storage closet is in and it can hold these trunks and a few boxes or bags. I would keep all your clothing boxes labeled and I guess your going to have to plan on where you go first. But please relax and Chris call me if Kaylie starts anything."
Chris shook his hand and said, "Thank you Mr. Kline."
I thanked Mr. Kline and turned to Chris, "So what now?"
He laughed and said, "Well little sister I ordered two pizza's and some apps courtesy of Mom and Dad and we are going to sit and talk when they get here."
When the food arrived we sat at the table and Chris grabbed a notebook. As we ate he said, "Mom and Dad left me money to take care of you bills and the house till we both leave. I have a friend who does resale and she has offered to hold yard sales and private sales to sell everything for you. She suggested that we clear out a room and just bring the items in there going to sell at the front or side of the house. You will have to decide what we are not keeping and she will work on everything for us."
"What will she charge," I asked.
Smiling he said, "Myla charges a flat rate of 20% on all big items and on yard sale days 10% of the sales. She is good at what she does and will do what we need. You will have the hard part deciding what can go into the ten trunks. Mr. Kline said there is about another foot and a half when you put all the trunks in. So when you go to travel I would suggest keeping your cloths in suitcases and hanging bags so you can swing by and switch it out from the clothes in the storage closet."
Nodding I said, "We should have the formal dining room done first. Its right next to the front door and we can block off the rest of the house. If you see anything you want for your place let me know."
Chris let out a laugh and said, "Well little sister that will not be necessary because I have a smaller spot that you do to store things. But if I find anything I will let you know. So I am going to have the realtor come tomorrow while your at school. Before Mom and Dad updated their will they had a company come in and do a appraisal of the house so I know what we are going to do price wise. Do you have plans for tomorrow after school?"
"I guess working on the house," I said. "Can you clear out the formal dining to the formal living room until I decide where I want to start. We can bring in the card tables from the garage to place items on. I do not want to go to school tomorrow but I guess I have to."
Chris looked up and said, "I am here for three months but after you turn eighteen you can stay here if its not all done."
"No," I said. "I do not want to stay here alone. I am glad I quit my job last week so I could finish the school year. I have around $4000 in my checking account. I only do half days now anyway so if Myla can be here by 2 we can go over things and I can ask her expertise."
Chris nodded and said, "I will call her in the morning. I may also see what Mr. Kline office charges if I find something to keep."
I opened my folder and looked at the storage unit information. "For a unit my size its $5000 a year. To hold a car or motorcycle its the same price. So I may end up keeping my car. The car pricing includes weekly start ups to keep the engine okay."
Chris nodded and asked, "Is the car parking in an enclosed area?"
"It doesn't say," I said. "I may keep some things in there if we can. Will you ask them what the car rules are?"
"Sure can," He said. "Its because it was Dads car right?"
"Yeah," I said. "But its late and I need to go to bed for school. I may sell my car and keep the suburban which was also his."
"Night kid," Chris said.
Walking up to my room I sat down in my room and realized how my life is about to change. Laying in my bed I searched for my first travel location ideas. I thought I would keep it in the US for a while and looking at some ideas I thought about taking a train around the United States. Closing my eyes I drifted off to sleep. I woke up the next morning with a better idea of what my future will be.
*************************************************************************
The following morning I woke up to see the formal dining room had everything moved into the formal living room. I saw that Chris brought all of the card tables and the coat racks Mom had in the garage. The formal living room was shut off to the entry way.
Going into the kitchen I grabbed my keys and my water bottle. When I walked outside Chris was coming back for a run. He opened my door and said, "Gabby listen do not let anyone know about how much money you received. You do not want to have fake friends appear."
Nodding I said, "You do not need to worry about that. I plan on keeping it on the downlow. I did decide what I am doing for my first adventure though."
He smiled and said, "You going to share?"
"I will give you a hint big brother," I said rolling up my window. "Choo choo."
His eyes got round and he laughed a loud, "Yes."
Driving to school I grabbed my bag from my car and walked into the school. Heading to the office I saw the secretary Mrs. Fowler. When I walked in she came around and hugged me, "Gabby I am so sorry to hear about your parents. I am so glad to see came back to the school."
I smiled and said, "Mrs. Fowler I am not giving up school. My brother is home to watch over me until I graduate."
She had me sit in the office and asked, "What are your plans for your future?"
I handed her a note about the future and as she read it her eyes got big. I took the paper and put it back in my purse saying, "You can understand why I don't want to share that."
"I do," She said. "Do you have any idea of what your first place will be to visit?"
Smiling I said, "I am thinking of taking a train trip around the country. I am going to start planning a route. If things go well I may start my travels with a lot of train travel."
"Will you be posting it on your blog?" She asked.
"I will be as well as working on a book series," I said. "I stopped by to see if you needed any paperwork for the days I missed."
"No we spoke with Mr. Kline on Monday when he came to get your school work," She said. "Did you do any of it you have till next week to finish it."
I held up my assignments and said, "I could not sit still so I did it all."
She squeezed my hand and said, "If it gets to much let your teacher know and we will they will release you."
Standing up I said, "Thank you, I will be okay I am going to hand in what I can before classes start."
I went to my three teachers I am still in and dropped off my school work. Then I sat down with a new notebook and opened up my laptop. I did a sneak peak post about what is coming once I graduate and thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I will admit my readers have been so sweet and kind. After I updated the blog I created a new page and made a link for it on my blog. The new page said, Where am I going after high school? Then I created a banner for the page with a picture of a train.
Mrs. Rommel my English teacher walked behind me and asked, "Have you decided what your doing after high school?"
"Yes," I said. "I can tell you it involves trains after graduation. But due to some of the plans I do not want my fellow classmates to know."
She nodded and said, "I am sure you will share when you can."
I pulled up the Sony website and started looking at new camera's to buy for my trip. I texted Chris and asked him for the inside dimensions for my travel backpack. He texted back and asked why? When I said I am looking into getting a camera for my travels and I want to make sure I can fit that and everything else I need.
After a few minutes he said, "Before you buy anything Dad has a bunch of camera equipment."
I smiled and said, "OMG i forgot it. Yes I will look at it before I buy anything."
After that I pulled up Amtrack and started looking at different routes around the country. I heard a male voice behind me that said, "Depending on what your doing my Grandma liked leaving Orlando and follows the coast to Maine every summer. The pictures are pretty cool."
Looking up I saw the Captain of the football team and said, "Thanks Mike."
He nodded and said, "I am sorry about your parents I cannot even understand how your handling it. I would be a wreck."
I chuckled and said, "I will be honest with you I live on coffee and comedies right now. It is hard but finishing school is what my parents wanted me to do"
He nodded and said, "I am glad your back."
As he walked away I notated the route he suggested and closed the screen. I also started jotting down other routes I was interest in. When class started I put my notes away and answered questions in class. When it was over I went to walk to my math class and was stopped by my brother in laws baby sister Joy. As I walked past she yelled real loud, "Look at the schools only teenage Millionaire Gabby Mitchel. All it took was for her parents to be killed in a car crash."
I stopped and turned to her and asked, "Who told you?"
She smirked and said, "My big brother is pissed your sister only got fifty thousand from your Dad."
I went to walk away and she grabbed my arm. Looking at her and said, "Joy leave me alone I am not dealing with you today."
She gave an evil smile and said, "Well dear little niece in law I plan on making your life hell till either you kill yourself and my sister gets it all or you melt down and let everyone see what a loser you are."
Laughing I said, "You realize your jealous of my inheritance I had no idea about. Don't worry Joy I have my will set already and if I die Kaylie gets nothing. I may be rich due to my parents passing and I would rather have them then the obscene amount of money I got. But I am going to use it to live my life to the fullest and everyone here knows your a petty, jealous, bitch who wants something they will never have unless you whore yourself out."
I stepped away and she yelled out, "You fucking bitch."
Opening my arms I yelled, "Well you heard my big secret everyone. My parents died and I inherited money from them and my great grandparents and grandparents. After I leave here I am traveling the world, making travel videos and writing a book or twenty. By the time I graduate I will be selling my home and everything in it and will not come home unless its to switch out my gear from warm to cold. So follow my blog mysecretlife.com or follow me on Facebook, TikTok, YouTube or Instagram for pictures, videos and articles about all my adventures. I already have thousands of followers and make money from it. Just for being a smart person and writing. Now that Joy wanted to share my secret I will be posting everything about what is happening starting today. Also keep a eye out as we will be posting when we will be selling everything that is not being kept in storage when I go."
I walked away with my head held high and went into my business math class. I texted Chris about what had happened and Mike came up and said, "Hey what she did was shit. Can I have your phone number I video tapped what she did to you incase you need proof."
I guess I had a look on my face and he leaned over and said, "The Grandma who I told you about. She passed away last August and left me everything. I have no worries in my future life but I would always want her here instead of what she gave me. If you ever need to vent I just sent you the video so save my phone number. You never know I might meet up with you on a train someday in honor of Grams."
I saved Mikes phone number and forwarded the video to Chris. He replied, "Oh this is being dealt with now. Myla will be here at two to see you."
After math was done I headed to my last class which was economics. My first day back was what was expected due to Joy and her trouble. I discovered that I did not have homework and asked Chris if he wanted food. He replied surprise me and he would be home in an hour. Going to my car I headed to chick fila and then headed home. I walked in and opened two trunks and placed them in the breakfast room opened. I grabbed a few of the reg boxes and brought them up to Mom and Dads room. I then grabbed my travel suitcase and my travel backpack and put them in my room on the floor open. When I opened the suitcase I found a travel bag that matches my back pack. I heard Chris come in and I met him and handed him his food. He saw the boxes and asked, "Are you ready for this?"
"Yes I think," I said. "Did you talk to Mr. Kline about the car spots?"
"Yeah I did," He said. "I just dropped the 57 chevy and the motorcycle to the car storage. I already paid for a spot for you as well. You can store things in the trunk and back seat only. The front seats have to stay clear in case of an emergency. You have twenty four hour access to the car as well. I paid for a spot for you already. As the remaining cars are all yours you get to chose which car you want to keep. All three of our spots are next to each other. We also have to have the car full of gas when we go to park the car."
"Are the cars all in my name?" I asked.
"Yes they are," He said. "Take your time to decide. The realtor came by today and will have flyers to leave for the sales and they will be starting to show it this week. Its priced at 3.2 million. The realtor knows you cannot leave until we sell everything and you graduate. She has that as a stipulation to any bid."
Walking over to Dads closet I opened the door. Looking at Chris I said, "If you see anything you want tell me. I will decide what I want as well. Also I want Dads Suburban to keep. I will be selling my car when I graduate or before hand."
Chris looked up and said, "You want to camp in it eventually don't you?"
"Yes," I said. "But first things first I am going to travel the country by train and then I was thinking into Canada and South America. I have some more ideas as well but I really want to do the train trips first."
Chris chuckled as he ate his food, "I may just keep some money and join you on some of those train trips if I decide to leave the military or take a vacation."
Smiling big I said, "I would love that. Me and you on some adventures, oh do you know where my passport is? Not that I am leaving the country yet but I want to keep it handy."
"We will find it or we can go to Miami and get a replacement," Chris said.
I walked into the closet and said, "Dad really did like clothes."
Chris asked, "How do you want to do this?"
"I was thinking we start on one side and work our way around," I said. "What happens if your not here and we miss something you may want?"
"Do not worry about it Gabby," He said. "I really only have storage in the trunk in the car and the back seat. I live in the barracks and do not have much room."
"Ok well I am going to go section to section and if I want something I will give you what I do not want," I said. "You can run everything down and place the discards on a table. Then Myla can price and place on the tables and racks or sell. I am going to trust her judgement on the best way to sell."
Looking in Dads closet I grabbed his suitcase set and laid them on the bed. I took one and wrote winter, one said summer, Then I grabbed two from Moms closet wrote formal on one, basic on one, and any season on another. Chris laughed and said, "Isabella would be proud."
"Well I do like clothes but know I cannot take it all with me," I said. "When Myla leaves today I am going to clean out the suburban and fill the tank and have you follow me to the storage lot."
*****************************************************************
Starting on the left hand side I started going through Dads closet. Chris grabbed a box and added a few pieces he liked and I added some of Dads Flannels to my winter and took my favorite one and brought it to my travel suitcase. I folded and rolled it tight and added it to the suitcase. Chris took the first pile down to the room we are going to have the sales in. Chris alarm went off and he said, "Myla will be here soon. Why don't we go to the formal living room and you can sort some of the items that are in there till she gets here and we talk? While you do that I will go empty the suburban and check for the maintenance."
Looking up from my cases and said, "That sounds like a plan."
In the formal living room I pulled all of my moms fake plants and vases and dragged them to the living room after making sure nothing was stashed in them. I worked on the china cabinet and moved a lot of the pieces to the table next to the clothes. Chris came in about thirty minutes later with Myla. She was so sweet and hugged me. Sitting in the kitchen she said, "I know this is going to be work and I am glad you were able to clear a room. I have a private sale scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Its invite only. So what I will do is every morning I will come by and price everything that you have set for sale. I brought in ten teal baskets which I am going to put on the floor in the sale room. The day of the sale the room will be shut off from the house. We accept cash only for all sales unless I am selling to a business. Your brother agreed to the rates are you okay with them."
"Yes," I said. "I am so happy you are doing this. I am drained after what we put in there already. With school and deciding on everything I feel wiped."
She nodded, "So I see you have stuff in there. I am going to see what you have. Do not be surprised if I bring a vendor directly here to see what you have. A lot of vendors feel special with that. I will text you both prior to bringing them but I will say this may be the fastest way for you to sell things. I am also posting for a indoor yard sale two weeks from now. If you leave everything in the baskets not priced I will bring tags tomorrow morning."
Nodding I said, "Thank you. We started Dads closet and while I was waiting for you I started the china cabinet. But you never know what I may want to sort. When it comes to the attic and basement god only knows what we will find."
"Well this is my card," She said handing each of us one. "Leave what you have on the table on there and then just fill the baskets starting now."
She stood up and hugged me. Turning to Chris she asked, "Are we still on for tomorrow?"
"We sure are," He said. "I will walk you out. Gabby I am almost finished cleaning out the suburban so we can move it. Dad just had a full tune up on it last month."
Nodding I said, "I am going to the basement with one of Myla's baskets."
Heading down to the basement with a stack of baskets and a box I turned to go behind the stairs. This area I knew I would not be bringing with me. Flipping on the lights all of moms crafting supplies lit up. Looking at the wall there were framed pictures of us with mom. Slowly I removed all the framed pictures and brought them up to a trunk in the breakfast room. Opening the first set of tote drawers I pulled box after box of crafting stuff and filled the baskets with the supplies. When I finished each set of drawers I brought them up to the front room and placed them next to the blue baskets.
When Chris came in I had one small box full of some crafting supplies that would hold while I traveled. When Chris saw it I said, "It's to replace what I may need in the tiny sewing kit I placed in my travel suitcase. That and a few things that mom used a lot as we were kids."
"Ready to go to drop off the Suburban?" He asked.
"No but I do not trust Kaylie," I said. "Especially after today at school."
Chris grabbed the keys to the suburban and said, "We will park your car and then I will drive us in."
When we parked I grabbed the box and Chris pulled around to the back of the first floor. He handed me a card that had the spot number and a access code for my wallet. Then he placed a laminated tag with my name and phone number on it. When he parked I grabbed the box and he walked over to the security guard and handed him the spare key. We went inside and I led him to my storage unit. Using the key pad I put the access code in and when the door opened we stepped in and I placed the box in the first corner. I looked at Chris and said, "This unit looks bigger than what Mr. Kline had said."
He nodded and said, "Well for things you want to keep lets get the crates in first and you can always use a few boxes for maybe's."
Nodding I said, "I may just do that. So what do you want to do for dinner?"
Sighing he said, "Mrs. Kline froze all the leftovers from the funeral. Why don't we just cook something in the freezers?"
Laughing I said, "Chris its already 7pm how about we get take out tonight and we can start using up all the food tomorrow? Or are you going out with Myla?"
He smiled and said, "We are getting lunch so we can take something out for tomorrow. I guess we can just pull something out every morning?"
Taking the keys I said, "Well then we are going to Chilis to get take out. Then we will have leftovers and I know there was a sandwich bake I will pull out for dinner. I also know there are French fries in the freezer we can have with it."
We got to Chili's and ordered food for tonight and while we were waiting we saw Jasper and Kaylie walk in the front. We saw his sister and parents join them and we tried to hide from their view. Kaylie spotted us and she walked over. Chris looked up and said, "Kaylie do not start drama please."
She looked at me and said, "Gabby you need to go to Joy and apologize for your behavior at school today."
I took out my phone and hit play. While it played it drew a crowd and the waitress said, "I would have hit her. You did the right thing."
Looking at Kaylie I said, "I think not Kaylie. I wanted to stay in my own little world and she put me in the public view. So tonight everything is going to be put on the blog and as I said in the video Joy can whore herself out as she doesn't work for anything and will not be anything more than a baby batter funnel."
The waitress brought our food and Chris and I took our wallets out at the same time. He pinned my arms to my side as he handed the waitress his card and said, "Please take this payment."
The waitress smiled and ran his card. As he signed she asked me, "What is your blogs name?"
I handed her a card out of my wallet. She looked and said, "Girl I am going to check it out when i go on break. Its nice meeting you both."
We left and when we got home I grabbed my laptop out of my bag and Chris started taking all our food out. When he got to the second bag he handed me a desert container. On the top was a note that said, "We all would have decked her. Stay classy sweet girl."
We both laughed and sat down. I started working on the blog and post about the future while we ate. After we finished eating and put everything away Chris got a call on his phone and I heard him say, "Yeah man I am down give me fifteen minutes."
When he hung up I said, "I am not two, go see your friends. I may go to Mom's closet and cry a bit going through her dresser. I am not ready for her closet yet."
He nodded and said, "I will be back later tonight."
Walking into my parents room I looked at Mom's dresser and sighed. I turned to her mirror with all of her decorative jewelry. Walking downstairs I grabbed the press and seal wrap and brought it up to the room. I grabbed a small and larger box for the items I did and did not want. Then I grabbed a teal basket to fill. Then I started putting the items I was keeping in the press and seal to keep everything from getting tangled during storage or travel. It took me an hour to sort through what I wanted and was getting rid of. When I was done I placed the box on the dresser incase of smaller items that could be found and carried the jewelry mirror downstairs. Then I started with the top of dresser. I put on some YouTube videos to listen to and for the next two hours I sorted. My maybe box grew as I sorted through Moms dresser. When Chris came in I was dragging the drawers and dresser down the stairs to the room for Myla to sort and price. I put the maybe box in my room. The rest of the items were put in the suitcases on the bed, in the trunks, a few pieces for traveling now and a few in a keep because of mom box.
Chris whistled and said, "I get it its hard to come in here. But man I leave you alone and you busted out a lot."
Laughing I said, "Wait till this weekend. Poor Myla is going to have a bunch of stuff behind the scenes unless she comes way early before the sale on Sunday. My plans consist of the attic this weekend till i am to hot them back down to the other rooms."
*********************************************
After I showered and went to bed I looked at the maybe box. Turning over to sleep before school in the morning I thought this may be harder than I thought. When I got up for school I found Myla in the front room and she was sorting and pricing everything setting up sale displays. She smiled and said, "You are doing a great job Gabby. Chris told me before his run that you are planning the attic this weekend?"
"I sure am," I said. "I will be back and forth from the attic to downstairs as its supposed to hit 102 by noon outside. I thank god my car storage and my storage unit are all air conditioned. I am guessing I will be placing things in both the next few days."
Chris came in from his run and said, "Hey Gabby so your aware the real-estate agent will be showing the house today. He knows your going to be sorting things or doing school work or blog work. He has five couples who want to look at it today."
Nodding I said, "Not a problem I will be here handling things I will make sure the trunks and cases are closed up before they get here."
I filled my water bottle and went to school. When I parked my car Mike walked over to me and said, "Gabby get ready to be a star people are looking for you. But for good things."
"You waited out here to warm me?" I asked.
"Well that and to see what your doing on Saturday," He said.
"I plan on sorting out everything in the house all weekend," I said. "The realtor is showing all week and through the weekend and the person handling the selling of the items is having a invitation only sale on Sunday."
"Well how about this," He said. "I will bring lunch and be your muscle while you go through stuff. I can be there around noon on Saturday. Then on Sunday I will come over and be your muscle again.:
"Why would you help me?" I asked.
"Because I like you," He said. "I like you for you and not for what's in your bank account. You need to remember I may not have as much as you but I am very comfortable."
"Its a date then," I said.
We walked in and another member of the football team named James came up and said, "Gabby man I was looking at your blog last night and my Gramps saw the article about traveling by train. He mentioned that the orient express is doing a US version going from upstate New York to Portland he gave me this magazine article for the new rail trip and told me to give you the magazine."
Taking the Magazine I said, "Thank you James. Tell your Grandpa that I will look into it."
He smiled as he fist bumped Mike. Walking away I turned to Mike and said, "I am glad my article is bringing people together. I didn't have the heart to tell him the original shut down in 2008 but a new one is in the works for 2024."
Mike chuckled as he said, "James idolizes his Grandpa and knowing this is something they can talk about is awesome."
We walked to out first class and I saw people whispering. Looking at Mike I said, "People are looking at us weird."
He shrugged and said, "Let them stare."
When we walked in the substitute said, "Its a free day. Teacher left me w note to tell you all to make sure your working on your papers if your done or want a break do quiet work."
I sat in the back and took out my laptop. I started to look at different train trips and I thought the one that Mike suggested was a great idea. I started pricing the route. While I was sitting there Joy walked in with her cronies and Mike pulled his chair to my desk. Joy called out, "Hey Mike why don't you come sit with me instead of that loser."
Mike looked up and said, "Joy isn't it a little early for you to be attaching yourself to a guy today?"
She got mad and I turned to my laptop for Mike to see and said, "I think I am going to take the route you suggested to kick off my trip. While stopping in St Augustine for a few days to walk around and make some videos."
"Did you decide the dates your leaving yet?" Mike asked.
"Not exactly," I said. "Graduation is on June 13th. I have to be in town to sign for the sale of the house. It all depends on what happens in the next few weeks. When I get home I have to put stuff away as we have a realtor showing the house a few times tonight and during the week. I however did price leaving the week after graduation and its not a bad deal. From here to Miami is $40."
"That cheap?" He said. "That is awesome. What about from Miami to St Augustine?"
"From Miami to Palatka Florida you can get a ticket for $40," I said. "The hotels are roughly 60 a night and then uber or cab fare if the hotel does not offer a shuttle to and from the train station. But that is a thought to because I found 11 separate train routes in Florida to try so you never know."
A few of the football team members joined us and threw out places they wanted to visit. We were discussing it and Joy yelled, "Gabby no one cares what your doing. Geez your such a tool."
Sam the head quarter back looked up and said, "Joy will you stop being a buzzkill. Gabby is pretty much leaving school with a job and a way to make money. I know most of the team is following her on social media and saved her blog. What have your done?"
Mike moved closer to me and said, "Joy your being a bitch you need to stop."
Sam turned back to me and said, "By the way I like to read and I started reading some of your rough drafts. Please tell me your going to continue writing because man I am through a lot of your stories and I need updates."
Laughing I said, "I am working on a schedule to keep the stories going. That is because I have to get my house cleaned out to be sold. But I promise more new content coming soon. Because of the move I am going to put the book symbol next to the stories I have updated. I may write while people are looking at the house. We shall see."
Mike whispered in my ear, "Joy looks pissed."
I shrugged and said, "Not my problem. I will explain why this weekend."
After school was over I said goodbye to everyone and headed home, I made myself some lunch and sat at the kitchen table and worked on my site while I was eating. When the real-estate agent arrived she looked and saw the set up yard sale. He asked me, "Is this going to be a everyday thing?"
"Yes it is," I said. "My brother explained that we need to sell everything in the house and the house as part of my inheritance. I can't even make plans until all of this is handled. As I do not want to drag a big mess while you have people here I will be in view to make sure people do not lift anything and will cleanout things between you showing the home. I will be glad to answer any questions the buyers may have."
The realtor looked very annoyed and I went to the front closet to sort more items. I grabbed a teal basket and started to pull the hanging items one at a time. The realtor came up to me and said, "The first people will be here in the next five minutes."
"Okay just let me know and I will put the basket back in the room," I said.
When I heard the doorbell ring I slid the basket into the sale room and went to the table and started to type again. The realtor walked in and said, "This is Gabby the owner of the house. She is sitting here while I show the home."
An older couple came over and shook my hand. The older woman said, "My dear I don't want to scare you but I knew your Dad. I am sorry for your loss. What are your plans for the future?"
I handed her my card while explaining my future plans and invited her to follow my journey. She looked pleased and continued the tour. While he was showing the house Chris and Myla came in. Myla saw I started to add more into the baskets and said, "Gabby your doing a great job with the sorting. Would you mind if I brought a person by who buys for their store later tonight?"
"Sure as long as it doesn't interfere with the realtor he seems bothered that I am here and sorting things between the showings," I said.
Chris said, "Well Myla will be arranging some sales between now and Graduation day. So we will sit with you."
When the realtor came back down with the couple Chris looked up and said, "Mrs. Garry it has been a long time."
She smiled and said, "It has been Chris I met your beautiful little sister and she is so happy to have you helping her. If you would not mind I want to discuss somethings about the house."
I got up and went into the front closet and called to Chris, "Hey there are some coats in here that were yours and Dads do you want to look to see if you want them?"
He came in and said, "That's where my skiing coat went. I only want this one Gabby. The rest can go if you do not want anything."
Laughing I said, "I am one step ahead of you. I have a tote in mom and Dads bedroom for all the coats I am keeping for travel. I had a collection but I know at some point I will be going to Alaska and Canada for traveling and eventually Europe. Did you not notice the back seat is down in the suburban to fit more items in?
Myla laughed and said, "Girl that is awesome when I traveled after college I made sure I had a coat and if one got ruined Mom would ship me another out of my closet. Oh girl take this advise keep your bikinis and keep two to three with you and pack the rest. Even your moms if they fit you. You will thank me because you can use them in pools and baths incase they are public."
Chris laughed and said, "Well there ya go Gabby."
Mrs. and Mr. Garry walked back in and she said, "We want to buy the house for the asking price as long as my daughter likes it."
Chris said, "Your aware its as is and no changes will be made."
"We are aware of that," She said. "My daughter has four kids and is going through a divorce. I am buying the house and we are all going to be moving in here if she is happy with the house. Because we cannot fit into our house with 2 bedrooms. We will be bringing her back later tonight if that's alright?"
Chris nodded and said, "Yes that's fine as long as you don't mind us adding items to the store in the front room. Also she needs to understand we cannot be out till the 14th of June as Gabby graduates on the 13th."
"We will see you later tonight then," She said as they left.
The realtor asked Chris to speak in private and they went outside. When they came in I heard Chris say, "I told you we are not taking less than the asking price and the house is in mint condition. So I will accept their offer if they offer asking price. As the asking price is included your fee of 75k."
When the next people came to the door I sat back down and Myla continued to price the items in the front room. While she priced she also did video calls to do sales over the phone. She advised they would have to bring cash to the home and she filled bags and attached sticky notes telling the people they had 30 minutes to arrive to pick up in the driveway. By the time all the showings were over and we were waiting for Mrs. Garry to come back with her daughter. Myla stayed and did a few more sales waiting for a big buyer to come by to look. While she waited and ran things out I made a sandwich bake and took out some of the salads from the fridge. While everything was cooking I continued on with the front closet. When Mrs. Gabby arrived with her daughter the food was on the counter cooling and I was sitting for a while working on the blog and some stories.
Mrs. Garry came in and said, "Well my daughter loves this home and she understands that you cannot leave till the 14th. So I need to ask if we do the closing early can we write into the bill of sale that you can stay until the fourteenth of June. But would you be willing for us to move her belongings into the front room or the office downstairs so its out of the way?"
Before Chris could say anything I replied, "I will change what I am sorting and will start on the library after I finish the front closet tomorrow because you can chain the door shut for security and its a bit bigger."
Mrs. Garry's daughter said, "Thank you we can camp in the spare room and the couch in Mom's room till the fourteenth of June but my soon to be ex-husband is demanding we have everything moved out of the house so it can be sold in the next 30 days. He took all of his stuff out the other day so I am sorting it all to move."
"I understand," I said. "I will work on it so we can do the sale and start the process. Starting now I am going to exclusively work on the library so you can start moving things in. Just give me till the end of the weekend."
Mrs. Garry turned to the realtor and said, "Start the sale paperwork. We are all on a time crunch and Gabby dear I am going to follow what your doing in the future. All I ask is that you do not post our names when it comes to the house."
"No ma'am I would not mention you at all," I said. "I am actually not going to mention the house sold until I am out and traveling."
The realtor asked, "Do you need to finance the sale?"
Mrs. Garry laughed and said, "No dear we are older we saved money we will be providing a wire transfer from the bank."
"Okay," He said. "Can you meet me at the office in the morning to do all the paperwork."
"Yes we will be there," She said. "When can we close?"
He said, "By law we still have to do a inspection as its a cash sale. So about two weeks and I am going to remove the real-estate lock box and putting it on as sales pending."
After they left we sat down and Myla said, "Well I guess we have a lot of work ahead of us."
"Well I have some help on Saturday," I said.
"Who?" Chris asked.
"Mike from school," I said. "He is the one who took the Joy video. He is not after my money as his Grandma passed last year and he inherited everything. So he knows the pressure to keep it quiet. We are having a day date while I sort the house. I wouldn't mind the house being sold and us out as soon as possible."
Chris said, "Well Gabby I trust your judgement so if you say he is good he is good."
"Thank you," I said. "Do me a favor after we eat go in the library and grab whatever books you want to keep as I know you do have favorites."
Myla asked, "I would suggest no more take out or fast food and use what you have up for meals. When I went to get ice I notices you have two full freezers and a full pantry."
Chris nodded and said, "We know. I guess we will be eating everything. It is a lot for Gabby and I but I will figure it out."
The doorbell rang and Myla went to greet the buyer and he had an assistant come in with him. I sat working on the computer while Myla did her thing. After about and hour they finished with the buyer leaving with a few full boxes. As he left he said, "We will see you on Sunday unless you fill everything up again before hand. Keep me posted Myla."
When he left Myla counted all the money in her pouch. She wrote up a form and put the amount made, her commission and what I am getting in cash. She had me sign for it and handed me $1600. Looking at Chris I said, "Wow."
Myla laughed as she sat back down and said, "I told you that we will get it done. By the way Gabby have you checked how your blog is going. I went to read some last night and it said high traffic load times may be slow."
Looking at the site traffic I looked at the sales for my site and said, "Oh my god this is insane. I have made a bunch and its not even the end of the month. Which is tomorrow. I guess plan B for the Blog needs to be put into place."
Myla looked at me and asked, "Plan B?"
Smiling I said, "Merchandise. Mugs, t-shirts, Bags and Journals. I found a site that you can create your own and they will make and ship for a commission."
"Gabby," Chris said. "You will be just fine."
We sat talking for a bit longer as I started the first of the merch and set links to the store. When I was done I said, "Myla I will see you tomorrow! You both have a good night."
Laying down I heard my phone go off and saw a message from Mike saying, "So we are working in the attic Saturday?"
I started to chuckle and said, "Attic is postponed, I need to get the library cleaned out as soon as possible. I will explain in the morning."
He gave a thumbs up sign and I put on some YouTube videos featuring Kara and Nate. They gave me a lot of ideas for the future. I fell asleep watching their van life series. One thing I did know was that in the next twelve years I can decide where I want to move or buy land and create a home."
*************************************************************************
When I got up I checked my blog and saw my deposit. After I added my deposits from social media Doing a silent cheer I got ready for school. Going downstairs I found Myla already pricing everything in the front room. When I went to fill my water bottle Myla came into the kitchen and asked, "So todays plan is to do some video call sales and continue to price what you have. I may have a few people interested in books and stuff from the library."
"You do have people for all things don't you?" I asked.
"I sure do I made a lot of content traveling and working here in town," she said. "When you start traveling do one thing. If someone offers you a card or their number take it. You never know who they may become in your life. Also before you leave make sure you have a full box of cards in your suitcase and keep plenty on you. Trust me when I say you will thank me later. My store I have online gets sales from all over the world because of those connections. All I have to do is send one text that I have new merch being added. I do not keep stuff in stock for long."
"Its funny you said that when I get to school I am going to reorder new ones," I said. "I just have to switch everything to my PO Box that I opened the day Joy started her stuff. I am listed as a traveler and they know to hold everything for me or a representative from Mr. Kline's office. If I get a notice that I have to much they will arrange a pick up and place on the passenger seat of my car. Then I will have to head back and deal with it."
"You have been thinking about this a lot," She said.
"I have," I said. "I do not trust Kaylie and have all of Mom and Dads remaining mail and my mail being delivered there and I will check it every few days. Mr Kline provided me a official form the post office requires so no one but me or a representative from his office can make changes in person only. Its a password protected transfer as well."
"You know I can't believe Kaylie is like this," She said. "I knew her in high school and she was high strung but not like this. Jasper changed her."
"She feels my Mom took her Dad from her Mom," I said. "But what can you do with a person's point of view."
"I understand," she said as her phone dinged. She looked up and asked, "Would you mind if my special client comes back tonight to see what you have added to the pile? I already told him you're starting on your library today."
Chris walked in from his run and said, "Hey Gabs last night I went through the library and took the books I want to keep. The box is in my room to fill it before I take it to the car. So when you get started today your all set."
Lifting my bags and adding my laptop to it I said, "Perfect I will be starting in there after I eat lunch. Do me a favor? Can you please pick something out for dinner and put it in the oven to thaw."
Heading out the door I loaded into my car and Mike was waiting for me at my parking spot. He opened my door and when I got out he said, "Hey Gabby."
"Hey," I said. "Sorry to seem mysterious last night. I sold the house, well in the process of the sale but the person I am selling to has to store some stuff in secure rooms so I have to get the library and the bottom floor guest room done so she can store her things there till they can move in."
"Well like I said, I will be your muscle regardless of what room we are going to be in," He said. "All I want is to get to know you. If we end up dating I understand we would be long distance if you want that as well."
"I would like that," I said. "But lets get to know each other first. I hate when people jump into a relationship before becoming good friends first. Also lets not say anything about the house as its hush hush till I move."
Nodding he said, "I get it. How is your sorting going anyway."
As we walked to the door to the school I laughed and said, "I feel like I will never get it done and the woman I have doing the sales is amazing. But its 41 rooms and closets and I feel like I will never get it done."
"Well I have been thinking about it and I may get the person's name to help me with Grams house," He said. "I loved her more than anything but let me tell you she was a hoarder there is so much. I think I may sell the house I went there yesterday to just be where she lived and I feel like it so empty without her presence there."
"I understand," I said as I opened my locker. "I feel like Mom and Dad will walk into the room any moment."
Joy and her cronies were waiting by the door when we got there. A few of the football players ran up and pushed her out of the way as I got closer so she could not taunt me. I bid them all hello and walked in. Mike sat next to me and I pulled out my laptop to take notes and work on my Blog until class started. Joy called out, "Mike baby come sit with me."
Mike looked up and asked her, "Why would I do that? I am happy sitting here next to Gabby. Besides didn't you hook up with the captain of the soccer team last night?"
Joy's face went bright red and she turned around. Looking at her I said, "I feel for her. She has no purpose in life. Speaking of purpose what are you planning on doing after high school ends?"
He gave a smile and said, "I am going with my parents and we are checking off the Everest Base Camp journey."
"Really that is amazing," I said. "I can't wait to see all your pictures when we see each other after that."
The teacher came into the room and we started classes. The day was a normal day and I did most of my homework before I left to go home. When I was going to leave school Mike caught up to me and said, "Do not go out there."
"What is going on Mike?" I asked.
He said, "James went outside to leave and someone wrote and drew on your car. The guys are getting buckets of water now to try and get it off. James took pictures and already got the principal."
"Mike I appreciate you trying to protect me but I need to see," I said.
He walked outside and on my car there was statements stating death princess, girl who should have died, this is how my parents died pointing to the front of the car. The principal looked at me and asked, "Gabby dear the police are on their way to do a report. Do you have an idea of who did this?"
Mike stepped forward and said, "Sir I may believe I do."
The principal looked at Mike and asked, "Who?"
Mike took out his phone and showed the principal of what Joy started the first day I came back from the funeral. The principal started to fume and said, "Gabby I know this is a rough time for you can you explain further. Stepping aside with the Principal I explained what happened at the reading of the will and the days after with Kaylie. I explained that Joy is my half sisters, sister in law and his family expected her to get a large inheritance. Since my sister did not get what she was expecting Joy was taunting me and causing trouble because I will be traveling after school ends.
The Principal patted my hand and said, "Well Joy may be in very big trouble now as we have security cameras out here and this will be on camera. I have the security cameras being reviewed now."
He took pictures and a video of my car and once the police looked it over the team dumped water on my car to get everything off. As they dumped the water they all kept saying, "We hate bullies."
The police took my information and Chris's phone number to let him know. The Principal came up to me and said, "It was confirmed it was Joy and her friends. They were called to the office now. I will call Chris when this is done and tell him what is going to happen. All the parents are on their way now. Go home and get away from the drama."
He told everyone who had helped if they need a pass go to the office and they will get a free pass for helping out. Mike took my hand and said, "Gabby are you alright? I was going to go to Grandma's house and work on going through boxes to see if I want to keep because I decided last class to get some money to travel when I get back from Everest. But I can come spend time with you as well."
Sighing I said, "I am shaken I cannot believe she would be so low. If you want to follow me we can eat lunch at my house and then I need to do homework and get started on the library."
"Well then," He said. "Lets get to your house, eat do our homework and then you have muscle till I have to get my brother from school."
We drove to my house and when we walked in Chris was waiting. He saw Mike and shook his hand. Turning to me he said, "Kaylie just called me and is pissed. She was visiting with Joy's Mom and she got called to the school."
Mike said, "I hope Joy gets what she deserves. Gabby is not the only person she bullies and the whole football team is sick of her."
Chris said, "Well I am sure the principal will be calling me soon enough. What are your plans this afternoon."
"Lunch, homework and then Mike is going to visit and be my muscle while I start the library," I said.
"Well if you guys want I have burgers in the fridge for lunch," He said. "Start your homework and I will cook them for all of us."
We sat down and did what homework we had. By the time we finished Chris was done cooking and we made up our burgers when Chris's phone rang. We listened to Chris's side of the conversation as we ate and heard him thank the principal. When he hung up he let up a slow whistle.
"Well Gabby you do not have to worry about Joy bothering you anymore," He said.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Well they caught her and her two friends messing with your car on the schools security camera," He said. "All three girls have in school suspension until school ends. He also stated that Joy would not be walking with the rest of the class. Her Mom was so mad and started ranting about how poor little rich girl gets everything and Joy gets in trouble. The Principal put his foot down and put her in her place. The cop who came said she was lucky that she was not arrested for criminal mischief. That shut her Mom up fast and said well at least the school had prom already and joy didn't miss out on that. The Principal asked her if Joy was going to be in any sort of trouble at home and Joy's Mom said of course not Gabby got what she deserved."
Mike shook his head and said, "That is insane I would have gotten my ass kicked."
Chris laughed and said, "Same."
Standing up I said, "Chris you know Kaylie will be showing up. If she does can you please deal with her? I do not have the mental space to deal with her whining today."
Chris laughed and said, "No worries Gabby. Myla will be here in about thirty minutes to hang out and price stuff. We got you."
Giving a small smile I asked, "What is with you two?"
"We are friends Gabby," He said.
"Well I like her and I see the way you both look at each other," I said. "If you want to date her you want my blessing."
Giving me his best military face he said, "I am not talking about this with you Gabby."
Giggling I went into the front room and grabbed a pile of baskets. When I came out I said to Mike, "You ready muscles?"
He pretending to be shocked and as he flexed his arm, "Is this why you keep me around?"
"Of course not," I said laughing. "But it sure helps."
The rest of the afternoon Mike and I talked about our lives, likes and dislikes. He kept running the full baskets of books and items from the library. Every once in a while I would pack a few things into my first trunk of keepers. I explained to him about the storage unit and how I had that the back of the suburban to save items.
He was curious about the storage unit and I told him about the pricing for that and the car. He said he may have to look into that with Mr. Kline because his Dad has been offered a job over seas and his parents may be moving after graduation and their trip. He told me he had talked about staying at the house he inherited and they gave him their blessing. He also explained he may sell everything and travel. They agreed because if they moved they would not be keeping the house either and would probably sell most of the items they own.
Myla walked in and said, "Well if they want assistance on selling things this is my card. I can start another big job after I finish with Gabby's house. Take my card also and I can help you do what I am doing here for Gabby. I own a small cottage and part of it holds my store. I can buy lots as well."
Chris walked in and said, "Myla your garage is ready to pop already with everything you do. She is a great sales person but also an amazing artist."
She laughed and said, "I appreciate that Chris. Also my garage has been cleared a bit as my online sales have been amazing lately both with items and everything I create. What do you think I have been doing when I am not here? Sitting and doing nothing is not me at all."
We all laughed and she gave me all the empty baskets saying, "I am still pricing everything but I figured you could use them. I have done sales and my big buyer will be coming around seven tonight. Keep up the good work."
She took Chris's hand and pulled him from the room shutting the door. When they left Mike said, "I am willing to bet they are taking it slow but dating."
"No need to bet I know they are testing the waters," I said. "I was going to ask Myla a question last night and they were quite cozy in the TV room. Thankfully they did not see me and I went to my room and that's when we started talking."
We both laughed and Mikes cell phone starting to beep. He groaned and said, "This has been fun I am happy I came here today. But I have to get going because my brother is special needs and is on a routine. If i don't show up he will be a monster till Mom gets home from work."
He pulled me into a hug and gave me a kiss on my cheek. When we separated he said, "I can't wait to hang out this weekend."
Walking him to the door I opened it to Kaylie standing there. Mike said, "See you at school in the morning and I will text you later tonight." Chris came into the room and told me to go back to the library. Myla came with me and said, "Do not leave the room Chris is pissed and he is dealing with it. We will let you know when its all clear."
She shut the door behind her and I went to the closet to sort it. Pulling it open I saw all of Mom's extra professional suits. Looking through everything I kept a few of the simple business dresses and decided to keep a few trying on the ones I was interested in. There was a lot of yelling coming from the front of the house. Then I heard Kaylie shriek, "Are you really filming me Myla?"
Being in the closet I could hear everything and I heard Myla said, "To hell with you Kaylie I am recording this for Chris and me incase you decide to try something. After everything Joy put Gabby through I am not allowing you to do this to her and Chris."
A few seconds later I heard the front door slam and Myla came in as I moved the professional suits to a basket. She looked at me and said, "Chris went to the pool to destress lets leave him be for a while."
"Good idea," I said. "Did you really record her."
"I sure did," She said. "I like your brother a lot. We are talking about having a relationship even after he goes back to base. They way Joy has been there is no way I was risking Chris getting into any trouble."
"Good," I said. "Your good for him Myla and you both have my blessing if you want to date. So do you know what Chris took out for dinner?"
"You mean what I took out," She laughed. "Before I came in here I put it in the oven, its a lasagna. I also found garlic bread to go with it."
"You are amazing," I said. "Thank you. I should have the closet done before dinner. But I do need a woman's opinion. I want to have a nicer dress with me I found these and they fit so nice which color do you think I should bring on the first leg of my trip?"
Lifting the dress pile I had pink, a few blues, black, white and a few different prints. Myla looked through them and said, "Since its going to be the summer I would say the light baby blue. But if you have room also take the black for more formal."
Separating the ones she chose I said, "Good idea these are going into the suitcase now and the rest into the more formal clothes suitcase."
Running upstairs I went to my room and added the two dresses to the suitcase rolling them neatly and putting them in a bag. Then I added the remaining dresses to the formal suitcase in my Mom's room. I figured if I got much more the formal case may be full before I finished the closet downstairs. Heading downstairs I worked on the closet till Chris came in telling me dinner was done. Coming out of the library closet I joined them at the table grabbing my laptop.
While we ate Chris told me, "Kaylie should not be a problem anymore. She wanted you to go to the school and tell them that it was you. When I pointed out that they had Joy on camera doing it she shut up. I told her not to come back unless she wants to be a real family. I guess Jaspers Mom ripped into her because her baby girl got in trouble and Jasper also started a lot of trouble as well."
"Thats is not my problem," I said. "I am not the only person she bullied and she has to learn there are consequences for your actions."
"Amen," Myla said.
After we finished eating Chris said, "I will clean up you both are busy. Shouldn't your buyer be here soon Myla?"
She looked at her watch and said, "Oh my your right. Gabby keep the baskets coming. He has a higher end section in his shop for clothes I have a funny feeling a lot of those items will be sold tonight."
Going back into the closet I ran up to my room and grabbed my empty laundry basket for things I am going to keep. Then I went downstairs and finished the closet within the hour. When I pushed out a stack of baskets Myla was opening the door. She had her buyer come in and saw me and laughed, "Gabby hun you could have bought it out one at a time."
"I know," I said. "But I finished the closet and even have a laundry basket full of what I am keeping. I may have to go to the storage unit in the morning with a full basket of dresses and formal clothing I am keeping. Thank god its right next to the school I can drop off things after class."
The buyer said, "Gabby you are such a hard worker. My wife and I follow your blog and we can't wait to see your adventures. She loves the updates and said she is looking at the book symbols to see what you update. She will be buying your books when you publish them. She already started buying the ones you have on Amazon and has recommended them to her friends."
"Thank you sir," I said. "Writing is a joy and I cannot wait to have the adventures and continue to write full time. Have fun shopping."
Going back to the library I sat at the desk and started to clean it out. Grabbing the paper shredder I shredded everything I did not think we would need and the remaining files I took and placed in a box next to the trunks. Grabbing Chris we moved the desk to the sale room. Myla had us place it up against the wall and said, "Its real now that we have furniture moving in here."
Walking back in I grabbed the chair I placed a sell basket in it and my white basket on a small end table next to it. Starting on one end of the room I started to sorting from one end to another. By the time my 9pm alarm went off I had made my way around half the room only stopping to change our the selling basket or the bag from the paper shredder.
Walking into the sell room Myla was pricing items and making displays. She handed me a form and envelope saying, "We sold a lot tonight. I have ten phone calls for tomorrow morning and my buyer will be back tomorrow night."
"Well after I sort the basket I have I will be heading to bed," I said. "We have 43 rooms left and I am hoping the library will be done before the weekend. After school I have to go to the bank again and them go to storage unit and drop off the suitcase of formal clothes. I am going to load that to my car now so I do not have to worry about it in the morning."
Chris walked in and said, "Give me your suitcase I will go load it."
Walking to the trunks I rolled it to him saying, "Its heavy."
He picked it up and asked, "What's in here?"
"Its loaded down with dresses and formal wear for traveling," I said. "That is not including the dresses Myla helped me pick out for my first trip. Oh and Myla I did save all of Mom's two pieces like you suggested. I have a few in my suitcase already and some in a carry bag upstairs on her bed."
"Like I said," She said. "When your traveling it will work out for you. Plus they take up small amount of space."
"Well Chris remember to take the garbage down I loaded it with a bunch of shredded papers from Mom and Dads desk in the office," I said. "I am guessing when we get to the office there will be more. I have a box for files we may need from Mom and Dads work and various things we had growing up. Its a small box but like I said we never know."
After saying good night I went up to my room and showered. Checking my phone I saw a message from Mike asking how it went with Kaylie and working in the library. I told him I finished the closet and made a dent with the library. He replied back to me with I bet we probably will be in more rooms than the library during our date weekend. I chuckled as i replied back probably. After I finish the library I may work in the attic at night while its cooler because of the heat. He sent me a picture of muscles that said they are at your command.
Looking at the envelope Myla gave me and adding it to the pile I had from the last few nights I decided I would have to stop at the bank in the morning as I did not want to leave that much cash in my car over night. Sending Mike a message I texted him, save me a seat in class I have to run to the bank in the morning. He gave me the thumbs up and said I am gonna chill with my brother for a while and head to bed. Have a great night.
Smiling I jumped into the shower and then climbed into bed. Making a playlist to fall asleep to I curled into bed and said, "Mom and Dad I hope you can see me. I hope wherever you are you know I would rather have you at home instead of this."
*************************************************************************
That night I did not sleep well. After sleeping on and off all night I got up around five thirty in the morning. Getting up I went onto my blog and made a post them got ready for my day. I was lucky that my bank opened at seven in the morning. When I went in the manager helped me and said I could do drops in the night drop box after I explained my situation. She sympathized and told me she was going to give me night drop bags and told me I could drop them on the way to school and made sure I had specialized deposit slips. She gave me the bags and the deposit slips wishing me the best of luck. I pulled up to the car lot at the storage and wheeled my bag in after checking in with the security guard. He smiled and asked if I needed help. I laughed and said nah with all the lifting I was doing I am good. Going to the car I made sure the tag was facing out I put it in the passenger side of the car. This was things could still go above and behind it. As I left I ran into Mr. Kline.
"Gabby sweetie your up early," He said.
"hi Mr. Kline," I said. "I had a rough nights sleep and decided to start my day. I had to bring money to the bank from the sales of the items so far and set up night deposits. Then I came here to drop off a suitcase full of dresses. I am going to leave all the clothes in the car and the major stuff in the storage unit."
"How is sorting and selling the house going?" He asked.
"Sale pending to friends of Dads," I said. "They are on a time crunch as well so I am finishing the library now so they can stash stuff in there. Their daughter is going through a bad divorce and her husband gave her till the end of the month to move everything our of the house so he can sell it."
"Oh your selling to Mrs. Garry," He said.
Nodding I said, "Yes but you do not know that. I promised them full privacy."
He nodded and said, "I am glad you found a buyer. Chris sent me a text about what Joy has done plus both of the videos. As a favor to him I am sending Kaylie a certified letter demanding she and Jasper's family stop all harassment or I will file for charges and a restraining order. Now you do not stress your almost done with school and soon your going to have a bunch of adventures. My wife and I will be watching your progress and we cannot see what your going to do."
We talked for a few more minutes and i stopped at Dunking for breakfast. Texting Mike I offered breakfast and I grabbed Mike a sandwich and he met me at my car and we ate on its hood. Looking at me he asked, "Are you alright Gabby?"
"I'm fine," I said. "I didn't sleep very well last night and have been up since five thirty this morning. But I ran to the bank and the storage unit to drop off a full suitcase of dress clothes. Thankfully things seem to be calmer today."
Mike said, "I think you spoke to soon."
Joy pulled up in her convertible with the rest of her friends she is on suspension with. Mike said, "I have a bad feeling about this."
They got out and she walked towards me asking, "Are you ready to do what we told you and tell them you did it."
"Joy your crazy they have you on camera doing the damage," I said. "I would never say I did it because I didn't now leave me alone and head to in school suspension."
Mike grabbed our bags and said, "Gabby lets not waste your time."
Locking my car I said, "Your right let's go."
As we got to the doors to go in the principal came out and said, "She was told to leave you alone. I spoke to your brother this morning and told me what your sister requested. You both head to class I will deal with her."
When we got to class we sat down and we saw joy through the window heading to the class. Mike leaned over and said, "She thinks she is free and clear."
Joy and her friends came in and sat down in their seats. The principal came in with the school security and said to her, "You three need to head to in school suspension for the rest of the year. If you continue this nonsense Joy you will be given out of school suspension and you will have to do this whole semester over the summer in summer school."
She looked at the principal and said, "I will not be going to that room at all. If you think I am your fucking crazy."
Everyone was quiet as her other friends stood up and gathered their things. One said to Joy, "Come on Joy we are not going to summer school I am already in enough trouble."
The two others left and headed to in school suspension. Joy sat in her seat and the resource officer said, "Joy if your not willing to go with them we will call the police to remove you from the school. Your eighteen this will go on your permanent record. That will affect you getting into college or getting a job."
She looked at him and said, "You think I am going to get a job. Your joking right I will have my parents support me or get a boyfriend who will there are enough rich boys around or at least ones that have money right Mike."
Looking at him I said, "How does she know?"
He turned white and said, "I don't know."
She turned and said, "Oh Mike don't play coy I heard from my Mom that you inherited a lot. Not like Gabby but enough you do not have to work unless you want to."
Standing up I said, "Wow Joy you are pulling things out of your ass. Why would you even spread rumors that are not true?"
She turned to the teacher and said, "Class started maam are you going to teach or what?"
The principal nodded to the resource offer and said, "Everyone the police are on their way if all you kids could move to the other side of the room away from Joy. Just do some quiet work while we handle this situation."
Opening my laptop I pulled up messenger and sent Chris a message to what was happening. He replied have Mike record it. I responded everyone is recording it. He said, "Get me a copy of that video."
James was reading over my shoulder and whispered, "I will send it to Mike to forward to you."
Nodding I shrunk messenger and pulled up todays class assignments and started the homework listed for each class. Everyone looked at me and followed suit. We all guessed that if we were quiet we would get a view of the show. Twenty minutes later the police arrived. Joy looked up and said, "Hello officers I have nothing wrong."
The Principal looked at the officer and stated, "Joy was given in school suspension for vandalism and harassment of a student for the remainder of the school year. She believed she did nothing wrong and has now disrupted the start of the school day. It pains me to say this but joy your are officially expelled from the school as we been monitoring your bullying of fellow students and have not changed your ways. You have the option to complete your classes in summer or online school. Officer if you would please remove her from the school and property we have already notified her parents although we know it will not do much good."
The officer approached Joy and she turned to me saying, "You will get yours Gabby."
When the officer touched her arm she swung at him saying, "Do not touch me I am not getting arrested."
The female office behind her cuffed her and said, "Joy you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. You have a right to an attorney if you cannot afford an attorney one will be provided to you. You are now adding assault on an officer to your charges."
She struggled as they removed her from the class screaming at the top of her lungs. The principal turned to the class and said, "Thank you all for your cooperation. Gabby again I am sorry for what she has caused."
When the principal left the teacher turned to us and said, "I will update todays homework. Please take the rest of the class period to work on your assignments."
We all sat together working together to complete our classwork and homework as a team and by the time the bell rang we were all working on other class homework. The teacher called out, "Thank you to all who submitted your work and handed in papers."
At the end of the day I went to my car and was met by Myla at my car. She explained that Kaylie showed up at the house and is waiting down the road. Mr. Kline is at the police station now getting a restraining order. She said Chris is with him and the videos from today and from Monday. She is going to drive my car home and I am to run to the door and run inside she will bring my things in.
When we pulled up to the house I ran inside as Kaylie sped down the road. I heard Myla say, "They are getting a restraining order on you and Jaspers family now. Leave her alone or you will be in jail with your sister in law."
She came in and said, "They will not stop. Gabby I am so sorry for what your going through."
Sighing I said, "Its okay Myla soon enough I will be gone and not have to worry about them. I am going to eat lunch and get back to the library. I am hoping I can make it till nine tonight going through things I did not sleep well at all last night and have been up since 530 this morning."
She looked at me worried and said, "Your stressing Gabby. If you get to bad I am kidnapping you and you will not do anything for a day or two."
We went into the kitchen and I made myself some leftovers. Myla and I ate some lunch when Chris walked in and said, "The whole family was given restraining orders along with Kaylie. The police followed me over and served her in her car. She was so pissed."
Finishing my food I said, "Not my problem. They know they should not be doing this. If you need me I will be in the library."
Grabbing all the baskets from the sale room I noticed a lot of what was in here was gone. Myla walked in and said, "I did a bunch of sales earlier today. So basket up my girl and while Chris and I spend some time together when you bring things down I will visit and price."
Grabbing my drink I went into the library and continued to sort. Around four in the afternoon I brought the final basket to the sell room and said to Myla, "The library is done."
She looked at me and said, "My god Gabby you are amazing."
"All I have to do is pack up my basket and decide which room is next," I said. "What did we take out for dinner?"
She laughed and said, "There is a mexican casserole in the oven thawing I will throw that on at five for dinner. You have tortilla chips, sour cream and other stuff to go with it in the fridge."
"Thank you Myla," I said. "I know Chris forgets this stuff so I appreciate you."
She smiled and said, "Do not worry about it. I do not mind and I know Chris takes watching over you seriously. But he is a guy and he would get take out every night if he could. What are you going to do with all the extra food?"
"I have an idea but lets see what's left first," I said. "We still have over another month and two freezers to eat through."
She laughed and said, "Sounds like a plan."
I headed to the downstairs guest room and went to open the closet. I groaned and went and found Chris. He looked up from talking to Myla and said, "Can you check the downstairs guest room closet and see if there is anything you want. It was the spare overflow closet from us, Mom, Dad and Kaylie."
He laughed and said, Your attempting the pit. I will go take a look."
He went to the closet and looked while I grabbed my keeper basket. While he searched the closet while I stripped the bed and folded everything putting it in the original bag along with the sheets and pillow cases. Taking the throw pillows and the spare blankets that had been sitting on the bed I took it all to Myla. Chris took a few items from the closet and said, "Well I got what I wanted out there. I will grab a screw driver, Ziplock bag and take apart the bed to bring to the store room. Just stack the baskets you fill and I will bring them to Myla."
Grabbing a chair that was in the corner I placed the first basket on it. Placing my basket on the dresser I started to sort through what we affectionately called the Pit. I chatted with Mike while I sorted and cleaned everything out. My mom had this lock in closet stuffed as well as man baskets in it as well. Chris would grab the baskets as he took apart the bed and bring them to Myla. When he finished the bed and had moved it to the store room I felt like I had not made a dent at all. Continuing on I keep sorting and noticed my basket was full. Going up to my parents room I sorted clothes into the right suitcases. Noticing that the shirt and pant case was filling up I grabbed another suitcase from Mom's closet and separated it to have one as shirts and one as pants. That made more room and when I was done I added the two shirts I found to my suitcase. Going back to the closet I worked until Myla called me down to dinner.
When I got to the kitchen she said, "I hope you sleep better tonight."
"Me to," I said as I sat down and dished up some food. "Thank god there is no school on Friday."
"Oh is Mike going to join you?" She asked.
"No as there is no school he is going to spend the day with his brother so his Mom does not have to take off," I said. "His brother is special needs and Mike helping his parents keeps his parents calm. If his Dad takes the job over seas then his Mom will only work if it can be when he is at school. Mike did say though over seas have a lot of specialized programs that may help with his brothers issues."
She looked at me and said, "You are aware tomorrow is Friday right?"
"Man this week did go fast," I laughed. "Thank God."
We all laughed and Chris said, "Try sleeping in tomorrow I am here to help you so if you see anything in any other rooms you want moved right away tell me."
"I will," I said. "But to be honest going room to room helps me stay calm instead of a mess."
My phone dinged and it was Mike. The message said, "Hey I know your probably sorting but if you want some company I will bring us some milk shakes and hang out tonight."
Smiling I replied, "That sound great! My favorite is vanilla!"
He messaged back, "See ya in a hour."
Looking at Chris I said, "Mike is gonna come over and hang out while I work on the closet."
He said, "I trust you I know Myla's buyer will be here soon anyway. Just don't stay up to late. We are gonna watch some movies after Myla is done."
We finished eating and I put the plates in the dishwasher while Myla put the food away. She said, "Guys there are leftovers in here for lunch and dinner tomorrow night."
We laughed and I said, "Good idea I hate food waste."
Going back into the room I continued to sort the closet and after a while I heard the doorbell ring and a few moments later Chris said, "Hey Gabby did you hear us call for you."
Poking my head out of the closet I said, "No I did not. Sorry all the stuff in here muffles sound. Hey Mike!"
Chris asked, "Do you want me to take these baskets."
"Yes please," I said. "Also if you want to take apart Moms and Dads bed this weekend that can go to the store as well. Just leave the blankets and pillows on the bench in there I will sort them. My suitcases can go on the ground."
He saluted and said, "Mike want to grab a stack and help me get these to Myla and her buyer."
"Sure," He said putting the milkshakes on the dresser. They both grabbed a few baskets and Mike came back in and said, "I cannot believe how fast you got things done."
"Even after everything is sorted and priced it will be a bit of time for it to sell," I said. "I have a feeling we may stay in a hotel before graduation."
Mike nodded and said, "I talked with Myla when I came in when I get back from Everest base camp I am going to start putting things I do not want in a room. My Dad decided to take the job over seas so Mom will be using her as well. They may just be selling her lots starting this week as we are not going to be keeping much at all. I cleared the dining room at my Grams house and that's were I will be sorting things to. But as I said, Grandma was a hoarder and there was so much in there. I started bringing things I do not use and stuck them in the master bedroom because I will be living there until I sell everything. Unless I join you on a trip or three. Myla said she will work around my schedule if I do decide to travel then join you on and off. If you want me to that is."
Smiling I said, "I would like that. You know Myla also buys bulk lots as well."
"I know and before Everest I may sell some of the stuff Grandma had hoarded," He said. "But the dining room is also really small so its not like she can make big displays like she had downstairs."
"What do you want to do after Everest," I asked.
"I really do not want to do a traditional nine to five job," He said. "I took accounting in school and I am really good with numbers. There are a lot of online freelance jobs for accountants. Even though I have money I do not want to blow through it. I did invest some money in stocks and I do really well with penny stocks. If I freelanced and did stock trades I should be able to live my life quite comfortably. My savings account is quite padded."
"Do you have any idea how Joy found out about your inheritance?" I asked filling another basket.
He picked it up and brought it to Myla when he came back he said, "Yes I do. Joy's mother works at the lawyer's office who handled my Grandmother's estate. She is a filing clerk who actually put everything into the computer. A few months after Grandma passed and I turned eighteen receiving the inheritance Joy started to try dating me. I pushed her away because I am not interested in her and from what I heard in the locker room she is a user and abuser. My Mom is pissed and she called the lawyer after I called her and told her everything that happened. Mom works for your lawyer Mr. Kline as a data entry clerk and she knows the information she inputs is quite confidential. When she spoke to the lawyer he said thank you we had our concerns and would be calling her back tomorrow."
"We always wondered how they had extra money for things when Jasper and his Dad work only part time," I said. "I wonder if his family has been black mailing people."
He looked up and said, "I wonder that to there is no way they should be able to afford all those fancy cars. I know Jasper and Kaylie cannot afford the fancy things as Kaylie only works a few hours a week at the business Dad worked at before he died doing filing. Oh my god I hope she did not fall in with the blackmail trend."
"Well for her sake I hope she didn't either," He said. "But if she did its on her she should know right from wrong."
For the rest of the night I continued to sort everything while we talked. His phone alarm went off and he said, "I have to get home I told my mom I would be home by ten thirty tonight. She was going to start in the attic tonight and sort some things to get ready to ship to Dad once he secures a new home for them."
We each grabbed some baskets and I followed him to the door. Walking him out he hugged me and tilted my face up he gave me a light kiss. Looking at me he said, "I have wanted to do that for a while now."
Smiling I said, "I am glad you did."
When he left I decided since it was cooler I would finish the night in the attic. Going inside the house I found Chris and Myla in the kitchen. Myla handed me my form to sign and handed me an envelope. I signed it and said, "Since it got cooler I am going to go to the attic and work on the front boxes. I cannot take anymore of the pit."
Chris said, "You can join us watching the movie if you want."
Laughing I said, "No sir I got my second wind. After I unpack my personal basket I am going to the attic. If I get tired I am gonna shower and go to bed."
Leaving them I went to the room and grabbed the sell baskets placing them at the door to the attic. Grabbing my own basket I sorted the items and placed them in the suitcases they belonged in. Opening the attic door I pulled the first stack of boxes and sighed getting to work. There was only a small amount of items that I decided to keep and quickly filled all of the remaining sale baskets and knocked on the door to the TV room. Chris looked up and said, "What's up."
"I just wanted to give Myla a heads up," I said. "I filled all of the baskets and am now going to be using the boxes I emptied and using them. "When I said second wind I an on full out work mode."
Myla looked up and said, "There were twenty baskets did you fill them all?"
"I sure did," I said. "I found seasonal decor boxes and only kept a small handful of my favorite things. The attic is cool right now so I am going at a speed to get things done. Enjoy the movie and Myla do not hate me in the morning."
They both laughed as I walked away. Pulling out boxes I continued on until I finally got tired. When I did I was happy that I had made a small dent in there pushing the handful of boxes I had left shutting the door. Grabbing my personal basket I went down to the trunks and emptied what I was keeping. Then I went into my parents room and moved the suitcases along the wall adding the few pieces of clothing I came across and decided to keep and stripped the bed so Chris could move that in the morning.
Going into my room I moved my suitcase, backpack and travel bag against the wall. Taking a shower to get the sweat off me I laid in bed and looked at my phone. Noticing it was almost midnight and fell asleep quickly.
****************************************************************************
The next morning I woke up at eight in the morning feeling refreshed. Throwing on shorts and a t-shirt I heading downstairs. Making myself a small breakfast I ate while I worked on my blog. When I finished I heard Myla come in. She saw me and said, "Girl you made sure I had stuff today. I sent a message out stating we had a lot of stuff for sale today before the special sale Sunday afternoon. I may already have buyers for the bed in there."
"Well I stripped mom and Dads bed as well so Chris can take that apart and bring it down. Before I start back to the attic I will strip the bed in the guest room upstairs as well so Chris can bring that down as well." I said. "You can give everyone a chance to buy all three. I will bring down boxes as I sort. I feel today is going to be productive. I think your right about leftovers today. Do not worry about me I will eat when I am hungry."
Waving I grabbed water and headed to the upstairs guest room and stripped the bed placing everything aside. I knew there were a lot of things under the beds but I will get to them when I continue to clean out those rooms. When I opened the attic the temperature was cooler then when I left and I got to work. Turning to the wall I grabbed the first crate and think I may have come across some of my Grandparents and Great Grandparents belongings. I continued crate my crate bringing down the fill baskets and saw Myla had many white bags full of items in the hall ready for pick up. During the morning the room became warmer and right around noon I had to stop. Heading downstairs Myla looked up and asked, "Are you alright?"
"I sure am," I said. "I made a dent in the attic but it got way to hot way to fast. I will go back in there tonight once it cools off. Do you have any empty boxes or crates for me I only have three left from the attic."
She smiled and said, "I placed a big pile in the guest room downstairs for you. Just stack the baskets in the room to the side I will have Chris bring them to me once I sort more of this pile."
"Okay once I move the vintage clothes I decided to keep I am going back to the pit," I said. Walking back to the attic I sorted my basket and grabbed the empty boxes bringing them back downstairs. Taking a break I went into the kitchen and made a small lunch from leftovers. After I ate I went into the room and worked in the Pit. While I sorted I did what Myla asked and I heard Chris in the room. Peaking my head out he said, "Both of the beds are moved downstairs and I believe Myla may have buyers for the bed and frames already."
"Oh good," I said. "I will be in here for a while I am about halfway around the closet now. I been sorting everything including the boxes as I go. I found kids clothes from when we were little. Mom seemed to have saved everything from us."
Chris laughed and said, "That sounds like Mom."
Getting back to work I continued to sort and stack. When I started to feel hungry again I noticed it was almost six at night and Chris must have grabbed most of the boxes as there was a stack of empty boxes and baskets in the room. Walking out of the closet I went into the kitchen to find Chris and Myla eating and I said, "I will finish the pit when I finish eating then back to the attic."
Myla said, "I am still doing calls. My buyer will be coming by in the morning."
"You have been busy all day," I said. "Well I think I found some of my Grandparents items in the attic so god knows what I will find now."
Making a plate I pulled up my laptop and wrote while I ate. When I finished eating I finished my work and headed back to the pit. After another hour and a half I finally finished. Making sure I did not miss anything on the shelves I brought all the baskets to the front room and went to grab my own basket. Filling up the small suitcase of winter clothes I ran it out to the car. Pulling out another suitcase I labeled it more winter clothes and placed it down. Going to my room I dropped a small clutch to my suitcase to use for formal events. Grabbing a handful of boxes and baskets I opened the closet door. Thankfully it was not very hot and I started to sort. The crate I opened was a set of my grandmas old dishes. Looking at them I said, "Oh my."
Taking the set I added it to my own pile and decided to keep them for my own home in the future. Continuing I found so many things from my Grandmas home. But I knew I could not bring them with me. I found framed family pictures which I put in my basket. I sighed when I found a few boxes of vintage clothing. Sorting them I kept a few pieces adding them to my basket. When I finished that night I had filled all the boxes and baskets but two. Leaving them in the attic I hoped the heat would hold off while I in worked in here the next morning. Carrying down the full baskets and boxes I found Myla had left me a stack of cleared baskets and I grabbed them and brought them back upstairs putting them in the attic. Sorting the clothes I had I noticed a few of the suitcases were filling up. Sighing I knew there would be a trip to the storage unit before the end of the weekend. Going downstairs I sorted more items into the the correct trunk. I noticed a few were filling up and I hoped after they were loaded into the storage unit I would have room for boxes and crates.
Going up to my room I took a shower and fell into bed looking forward to my date weekend with Mike. I hoped by the end of the weekend we would be a couple.

When I woke up the next morning there was a rainstorm going on outside. I sighed and hoped it would mean the attic would stay cooler longer. When I went downstairs I saw Myla working in the front room and Chris was at the table drinking coffee on his computer. He looked up at me and said, "Morning Gabby your up early."
"Chris," I said. "I normally am up between six thirty and seven every morning."
He looked at me like I had two heads and asked, "Why?"
"To work," I said. Going into the kitchen I made some breakfast and sat at the computer with a cup of coffee and my food.
Chris sat across from me and said, "So my little workaholic sister what are your plans today?"
Sighing I said, "The attic. If it gets to hot I will come back down and work on the second guest room. But you can do me a favor can you start looking into the cars in the garage to sell and take any of the items you want from there. There was Grandpa's 57 chevy, Great Grandpas 27 ford and Grandmas 1957 Ford pick up truck. Also in the driveway is the remains of Mom's car from the accident under the tarp. I want to sell all those as soon as possible."
Myla walked in and said, "Did the police need the remains to your Mom's car still due to the case? Also Chris I have a number of a man who buys vintage cars or knows people who buy them. I can handle all that for you both. I also know a guy who deals in scrap cars we just need to see if the police need Isabella's car for the case."
Chris looked up and said, "Thank you Myla I will admit those cars are more sentimental to me if you can help find a buyer for them that would be great. I will however go over all four cars and make sure everything is out of them."
Myla looked up and said, "Here this was for yesterdays sales. You were so busy I thought I would just wait till this morning."
Laughing I said, "Well thank you. I will add it to the pile in my room and go to the bank when I go to the storage place. I figured kill two birds with 1 stone."
As I got up Chris asked, "Well I will get the cars cleaned out and Myla remind the buyers it is a cash only sale. Gabby you have the titles for all the cars in the packet you were given. We will need them when we get a buyer."
As I washed my plate and mug I said, "You know where I will be. I am hoping with the rain it will stay cool in the attic I have not reached the windows yet to be able to open them."
Chris chuckled as Myla said, "God speed."
Stopping by my room I added the money to my purse. When I opened the attic door I found all the empty baskets that Myla had emptied and got to work. Sending a text message to Mike to say good morning I ran back to my room to grab my tablet and listened to some YouTube videos to pass the time while I worked. When I got to a trunk I realized I never saw it before and opened it. Inside was all of my parents wedding things. Going downstairs I saw Chris working on his laptop. He looked up and asked, "You good."
"Yeah," I said. "I found Mom and Dad's wedding trunk and wanted to have you look through it with me incase there is anything you may want."
Myla walked in and handed me a sturdy box that was in the attic. She said, "I checked an open trunk that way you can keep anything you want separated. May I join you I love vintage wedding items?"
"Of course," I said. We headed upstairs and started to go through the trunk. I slowly added things to the box and Chris kept a few things that were Dads in there. Inside was their wedding album and Mom's wedding dress. After we sorted the items I decided to keep the trunk and placed the box inside of that trunk and added it to the pile downstairs.
Looking at the clock as I grabbed some water I noticed it was just before eleven in the morning. I was making good time and since it was still cool in the attic I grabbed Myla's empty baskets and went back up to the attic. When it finally got to hot to stay in the attic I shut the door and went to sort more of the clothes and items I decided to keep.
Walking into the kitchen to grab a snack Chris came in and asked, "Hey do you have a moment to get the title for Mom's car?"
"Sure," I said. Going upstairs I found the title for Dad's SUV which had the paperwork attached for the title transfer. Adding that to the important pile chest I handed Chris the titles saying, "That's for all four cars currently for sale. That way you and Myla have them."
"Okay Myla has been doing sales and calls all morning. But she did do a video walk through of the three good cars and has people checking their accounts now," He said.
Making a plate I sat at my computer and said, "Well they will have plenty. I will need help a little later moving furniture out of the guest room. That way when Mrs. Garry signs the papers she has multiple rooms for storage to place things in. I am betting they will be moving more then her daughters things in as well. Also I have been thinking if we can sell my car I may have to have you rent me a car so I can get to and from school and graduation. I do not want to wait till last minute."
"We will cross that path when we come to it. I would say lets see how much more we have to go at the end of next week," He said. "Have you made any reservations yet for traveling?"
"I have a notebook with all my ideas," I said. "But nothing set up yet I want get everything here done first."
I posted on my blog and added to a few stories on my break. When I was done I went into the downstairs guest room and started to work on all the furniture. Going through the furniture and room went fast and I helped Chris move the larger pieces right before dinner I had finished the guest room. After I filled up a few more suitcases to stow in my SUV I decided that I would run to the bank and storage in the morning. After dinner I went to the pool house bathroom and started cleaning it out. Losing track of time as I listened to videos I finished the pool house bathroom and was halfway through the closet when I heard, "Gabby are you in here?"
Calling out I said, "In the pool house."
Chris came in and said, "Hey the realtor called and said the house passed inspection and we could do the sale of the house on Monday afternoon if your ready."
"I sure am," I said. "It will have to be after school but I am good with that. Lets say three in the afternoon that way I do not need to rush. Are we going to do it here or at his office?"
"I will get the details and let you know," He said. "Mr. Kline has a associate looking over everything now and will join us for the sale."
"Okay," I said. "Why your in here the furniture can be moved to Myla. Well the couches and chairs right now I still have to go through storage and the shelves."
Sorting everything into the baskets I finished the closet faster than I thought even though it was stuffed with towels and pool items. I did decide to keep a few of my favorite beach towels. By the end of the night I had finished the entire pool house. As I finished bringing the last of the items and my basket into the house a new wave of rain started to fall. After unpacking everything from my basket I made a snack and ate a little as I worked on my website. Looking around the house I decided to finish the entry way and its closet. That took so little time I decided to go back to the attic and work on it some more. Going up to the attic I started sorting a pile of matching boxes which were full of vintage clothes for all seasons. Smiling as I sorted through the piles I knew if the items fit I would be keeping a lot of them. I was having so much fun that I didn't hear Chris and Myla come into the attic. When I saw a dress I heard Myla say, "Girl you best keep that one it would look great on you."
Laughing I pointed out the stack of boxes that were emptied and said, "I have already emptied all those and added a bunch of clothes to my suitcases in Mom and Dads room. I also put three more suitcases in my car. In the morning I have to go to the bank and the storage unit. Thank God the suburban has space for suitcases and accessories and shoes. One suitcase is nothing but shoes and boots that fit me. But never fear I added the remaining goodies to your pile. Question though these are vintage storage boxes you think these will sell?"
She was already adding lids to the boxes and said, "Oh yeah things like this sell quite well. What time is Mike coming over tomorrow?"
"He said he will be here around one. It was supposed to be noon but his little brother has a Doctors appointment and he wants Mike to go," I said. "So if the appointment runs on time he will be here in the afternoon. But it also gives me time to empty my car and go to the bank."
"Speaking of," She said. "That is for todays sales and the sale of your Mom's car."
I signed the form and said, "This feels thick?"
She laughed and said, "Before we left we had a few big sales and my buyer did not even stop buy today. He will be coming by tomorrow afternoon."
We left the attic and I went to my room to add the money to the pile. When I got back to the attic I continued on until my alarm for midnight buzzed. The attic was more than halfway full but would have to wait until tomorrow night unless it was cool enough in the morning after I got back from running around.
Settling in for a good nights sleep I drifted off contemplating what is coming in the future.
