I grabbed my box of supplies and headed out to the workers' building. This job will start my career and no more overthinking anything. What I did not see was a shadow watching me from the woods. His face was sad as he watched the love of his life walk towards establishing herself.
Aunt Kathy came out and said, "Max you need to decide if she can see you. Hiding in the shadows while your still alive is tearing her apart. She can feel you near her."
He turned to her, the left side of his face cut up and scarred as he said, "I want to see her, but she will not want to be with a man who looks like me."
Aunt Kathy said, "You know, I think you could be a Zombie and she would accept you. She loves you and misses you so much, Max."
Max said, "I will watch for a while and decide."
"Well, sweetheart," She said. "You may have to reveal yourself alone. I am planning on going south soon enough. Keep hiding in the Men's retreat. She may hop buildings. Right now, she is starting the workers building."
He nodded and headed to a spot to watch Cami.
Chapter 1
Opening up the workers' building, I felt a gush of air leave the building. Walking into the building, I went to the second floor and went to the first of the seven upstairs suites. I put the crate on a chair next to the closet and started to clean it out. As I cleared out the closet and priced the items that could be saved, I got into a groove and took pictures of what I was doing in the building for my website.
After I finished the closet, I looked inside and discovered all I needed to do was sand the floor and stain the floor. I decided that the walls only needed a coating of white paint. By the end of the day the floor had been stained twice, the walls in the closet were painted twice, along with the shelf above the metal hanging bar that only needed to be polished.After I dropped the items off to the store I went back to my RV and made myself some lunch. As I ate, I uploaded the closet pictures and wrote what I did in the space. When I finished, I sent the pictures to Aunt Kathy.
Ten minutes later she called and said, "Oh, Cami, that looks amazing. I am so happy you went with white for the walls. That lighter floor stain looks amazing."
"Thank you," I said. "When I get back, I am going to take down the door and shine the brass on the door."
"Oh I knew having you start here was a good idea," She said.
