After we arrived at the hospital, we were told the Doctor would be there shortly to discuss Henry's condition. At first, I paced and then sat tapping my foot while we waited. When thirty minutes passed, Charles said, "Callie, why don't you place some online orders for pickup later. Or order things for delivery that way you are not bouncing so much."
I chuckled and said, "I am sorry, baby. I am worried about Henry."
He hugged me and said, "It's okay, I know you hate the hospital."
Sitting down I sipped my water bottle and started to feel a little nauseous. Charles said, "You alright Callie?"
"Morning sickness," I said. "I guess we have a bit of time with this still."
A nurse came over and asked, "I hate to ask, but are you pregnant?"
Chuckling I said, "Yes I am. How can I help you?"
"This is going to sound out of place," She said. "However, would you like to see your baby free of charge. We have a few students, and we have had no patients in here today."
"Does it matter that we did not have our first doctor's appointment yet?" I asked.
"Not at all," She said.
Charles pointed to the door and said, "Go I will wait for the Doctor."
"Don't you want to see the baby?" The nurse asked.
He gave a big smile and said, "Of course. But our good friend was brought in, and we are waiting for the doctor."
"Oh do not worry about that," She said. "The doctor is very busy I will tell the desk where you will be and the doctor will come find you there."
She walked over and told the charge nurse where we would be then came back and said, "Let's go meet your baby."
We went to a private room and the nurse said, "This is Amanda, and she is an ultrasound technician in training. She is going to arrange the introduction to your baby."
Amanda stood up and pointed to the table as she said, "We will take it slow. When you're ready, can you lift your shirt I normally suggest that you roll it up and tuck it under your chest."
I rolled up my shirt and lay back on the stretcher. Amanda said, "I tried to keep the gel warm, but it may be cooled off."
