Coming into the office, I looked at my desk and found a to-do list taped to my computer monitor. I loved that my boss was old school and always wrote out everything they wanted me to do. This meant I could multitask and not have to look at my phone twenty times a day. Placing my bag in the bottom drawer of my desk, I loaded my laptop, and the intercom on my desk woke up and my boss said, "Hey Callie can you come in to my office?"
I hit the reply button and said, "On my way."
Walking into Olivia's office, she looked up and smiled. Sitting on a chair with my notebook, I asked, "What's up, boss lady?"
She laughed and said, "So I left the first list with you but I have a privae list that I did not want to leave onthe desk."
"What's going on Olivia," I asked. "I have been with you for five years and you have never seemed this serious before."
She sighed and said, "Between us."
I nodded as she continued, "I think James is having an affair."
"Well, shit," I said. "What are you going to do?"
"I hired a private detective," She said. "They will be reaching out to you on the business phone. I listed you as a point of contact and we need to maintain discretion. Whatever he text you you are to make it into a report and drop it on my desk in a rush folder."
Nodding, I said, "Understood, and I will refrain from taking a bat to him if I do not like what I see."
"That would be appreciated." She replied with a smirk. "I will let you know when you can go scorched earth."
I laughed and said, "Well, if he decides to start stuff, I am sure that I can make his life difficult. However, what do you need?
"For now," She said. "For you to keep doing what you are doing."
"Sure thing," I said. "Do me a favor, though, and please get your ducks in a row. If he is cheating, you want to make sure you start to separate the finances and property."
She laughed and said, "Oh, Callie, do not worry about that. I have my lawyer on everything now, and the private investigator that will be doing drops to you will be the one who seals the deal."
"Well, as long as you are covering your bases," I said. "I am going to get started on the list you sent me."
Walking out to my desk in the reception area, I started to get to work.
