Looking at the house and property, we purchased sight unseen. We moved to a small home in the Appalachians. Yes, we heard the stories, but we figured that with my husband's religious upbringing and my upbringing in a white witch family, we could get through anything. We lived on a tree-lined street that backed up to the mountains. We had a chain-linked fence with a gate that led to the woods. My husband Kai said, "Sariah, you are going to love it here. There are woods we can hike in, a yard that we can garden in, and if you want, we can build a new greenhouse."
"As long as I can garden," I said.
Kai said, "The moving truck will be here in about an hour."
Kissing his cheek, I asked, "When do you start work?"
"I have to check in at the vet clinic in the morning," He said."Just think you will be able to do so much in this house. I know the inside and outside need work; however, soon enough, you will be able to remodel everything. Your website will love that."
"Speaking of website," I said. "I better get some pictures before the moving truck gets here."
"Go get your camera and I will open all the blinds in the house," he said.
"Thank you," I said, heading to our SUV and grabbing my camera.
Going inside, I took pictures of every room in the house and the basement. I finished the last picture outside when the moving truck pulls up. I placed my camera and laptop bag on the kitchen counter. When the first box came to the kitchen, I started to unpack. I have never had a good way with strangers so kai was directing the movers. I had unpacked a lot of the boxs in the kitchen by the time the movers unloaded everything. When they left kai joined me in the kitchen and he said, "Sariah i am glad I work at the clinic and you work here because I think i have the better end of things."
Looking up I said, "You're not getting out of unpacking the house."
He let out a hearty laugh and said, "We will get it done together. However, I am getting hungry. Since we have not stocked the house yet or unpacked the packaged foods, do you want me to run to the pizza place down the road and get us some pizza and drinks."
My stomach growled, and I said. "Yes, please."
Coming around the island he kissed me and said, "I will be back in a bit."
I plugged our drink fridge in and placed a case of water into it. Then I opened a box and found all of our loose drinks. Then I found our wine fridge and found a plug to get it cooling down. By the time kai came in I had most of the kitchen boxes unpacked. Kai placed the pizza and two liter on the counter. He said,"The place was really busy so I placed the order and when they told me thirty minutes, so I grabbed some food for us. It is kinda like publix and they had a assortment of premade foods. I grabbed a bunch of easy things for the next few days."
We unpacked everything from the store and sat on our barstools at the island. We talked and made plans for unpacking the house. I started yawning and kai said, "Why don't we take a nap. We went up to the master bedroom and took our sheets and comfter from the bag we had in our SUV. After placing pillows on the bed we laid down and I fell asleep quickly. When I woke up a few hours later Kai had finished unpacking all my tools in the garage, his office, the kitchen, and my office. He was working on unpacking the dining room when I came down and I said, "Did you even take a nap?"
He looked up and said, "For about twenty minutes. There is a Mexican place, do you want to go get some?"
My stomach growled, and I said, "Yes."
He looked at the sky and asked, "Do you want to come with me?"
Looking at the sky I said, "Not yet. Hopefully I will feel more comfortable here and will not be as uneasy."
He took my hand and said, "Oh my spiritual queen things will be so much better here. Take your time and soon enough my little witch you will be making friends and hopefully find a coven."
Hugging him I said, "I can only hope."
He grabbed his keys and said, "Your turn to unpack."
I laughed and started to unpack the things in the hallway as I thought about what prompted our move. We were living in a small town in Florida when the town council went after all the spiritual covens. Many people in my coven were arrested and then killed under mysterious circumstances. Kais parents came into town and his Mom snuck me out in the middle of the night. Kais Dad and he packed the house and property up. We stayed at his parents home for a week while we figured out what our future would be. One night we were watching TV and saw an ad for a vet office that was for sale, and Kai made calls the next morning. He purchased the vet office and then we spoke to a realtor on the phone and she found us our new home.
My job has always been a website owner and sold my herbs and things from my garden. I had to halt all orders when everything happened and put a disclaimer on the website about what was happening in florida. My followers and buyers were kind and patient. They have been supportive and cannot wait for me to open the store again.
I grabbed my laptop and sat in the kitchen to post an update. I finished the article with a picture coming soon. Smiling I posted the article and went back to unpacking waiting for kai to come back.
