The Trip (multi book series)

Being excited for this trip is an understatement. I was going to be traveling the country and into Canada and South America on a train for the next six months. Sitting on the balcony of the bed and breakfast I was staying at in Key West I looked towards the new train station and rail road that have been built in the last few years. This trip was a partial gift from my late Grandfather and I could not wait to get started.

Now you may ask, "How can you afford this?"

That is easy, I was married until six months ago, however, My ex-husband decided that he preferred male company instead of mine. Am I mad? Not at all I only wanted him to be happy. He is still my best friend and he will always be. Since we had no children, when we divorced, he moved into his partner's home, and he gave me the proceeds from the sale of our home. My RV is sitting in their driveway along with my belongings, and I sold everything off that was left. I will be able to work while on the trains and earn money to keep this trip going. I plan on ending my trip with a cruise to Antarctica.

There was a knock on my door, and I opened it to the room service cart with my breakfast. Sitting on the balcony, I watched the world go by. Relaxing and eating breakfast, my phone rang. Answering, I said, "Good Morning Jack!"

"Good morning JJ," He said. "Max and I are having breakfast and wanted to see how your morning is going. We wanted to see how excited you are."

Max jumped in and said, "JJ, I am low-key jealous you are doing this. I am going to be stalking your blog and want to see all the pictures."

"Hey Max," I said. "Did you check the blog today? I posted a bunch of pictures last night from the places I went yesterday in Key West. You guys have to come to this bed and breakfast when you're done teaching for the year."

"No, I did not let me grab my tablet," He cried.

Jack chuckled and he said, "Are you doing okay, JJ. Do you need anything?"

"I am fine, Jack," I said. "I am super excited for this trip, and I am excited that I am able to work, blog, and write while on this trip."

"Are you angry with me?" He asked.

"Why would I be?" I asked. "Jack we tried and you were in deep denial I get it. I want you happy with Max and to have a great future. Do me a favor though if you guys decide to get hitched you wait until I am done with my trip and I will be your best gal."

"We will hold you to that," He said. "Best friends forever."

Smiling I said, "Forever. Besides I can use you and Max to be my wingman when I decide to go back to the dating scene."

Max cut in and said, "JJ, love you're going to find someone on this trip, I feel it in my bones."

Laughin,g I said, "Maybe a friend with benefits, but I want to see what the future brings me."

"Oh wow, these pictures on the website are amazing," Max said. "The Everglades tour looks amazing. Oh, have you opened your big suitcase? I left a gift box at the bottom of it. Do not open it until you are on the train. Also, Jack and I arranged a surprise for you in your room."

"A Surprise?" I asked. "Should I be scared?"

Jack laughed and said. "Trust me, you will love it."

"Well my boys I would love to chat more but I need to get ready to go to the train," I said.

In unison they said, "Check in later."

I hung up my phone and packed to head to the train station. When I had finished packing I headed to the lobby and checked out. Heading to the train station I arrived an hour earlier than necessary. Since I was in a suite I was ushered into the first class lounge and I snacked on some of the fresh foods they had on the buffet. After thirty minutes, they called for all suite guests to load the train for their rooms. Getting to my room, I opened the door and there were fresh roses at the table along with a gift box. The box had a card and when I opened the letter their was a note from Jack and Max that read, "A little something to remember the trip even more."

Opening the box there was a go-pro. A new mini video camera and two removable hard drives.
