Doing A Project (Stand Alone)

 Doing A Project

I know that I have a horrible sense of humor. I also had a weird and almost messed up way of introducing people to the paranormal world. My children had no trouble believing in the paranormal as they grew up. They would even ask to do night drives to haunted locations and for me to tell the stories about that area. Their father, my ex-husband, did not believe in ghosts even though we lived in a haunted house. I have never been shy about my thoughts on ghosts and the paranormal. Some family, friends, and co-workers believe, and some are on the fence or are skeptics. One co-worker who was on the line about the paranormal had come to me about a history project she had to do, and this is when I decided to give her a great location that could introduce her to the paranormal world.

My co-worker went to the same community college as I did. However, I had taken the summer semester off because my kids were on vacation from school, and she took a few classes, including a summer history class. One of the class requirements was she was to visit a local historic landmark and complete an essay on the location. Well, during our shift, she had asked me if I knew of local places that gave tours. As I lived in Florida longer than she had, I suggested the May-Stringer house in Brooksville, Florida. I explained that it was a historic home that gave daily tours and that the home was beautiful and full of history. I even suggested she take her mom with her because it was so beautiful and a great outing. However, I neglected to mention that the house is extremely haunted, and she had a chance to meet one of the resident spirits. So she looked up the home's website and decided that was a great idea, and she would go there. She also thought it was a good place and would take her mom along. Now, so you are aware, the website does mention paranormal activity in the building. She even joked with me about the location's claims of being haunted.

The day finally came for her to take a tour of the location. She had stopped by earlier that morning to say hi and stated how excited she was. I told her to have a great time and let me know how it went. Soon after I had finished my morning shift, I went home thinking my day was over and ended up getting called back in as someone called out for our department. I was doing price changes in the formal wear department when she found me and said it was not cool of me to set her up. Not admitting to anything, I played the innocent friend and stated that she had seen on the website that the home had paranormal activity and that I only suggested the location because of the history. She laughed about me setting her up and then told me about her tour with her mom.

She said when they got to the home, even her mom was very excited, as it was such a beautiful and historic home. Also, she mentioned that it was warm outside and that during the tour, people had started to say that it was almost like they'd walked into a spot where the air conditioning was on full blast. The cold spots happened little by little on the bottom floor of the building. As they headed up to the second floor of the building and heading up to the third floor and attic, the cold spots happened more and more. When they got to what used to be little Jessie's room, she said the temperature went down about twenty degrees. She said the most shocking thing happened to her as she left the room and felt a tiny child's hand holding on to hers. She let out of gasp, and the hand let go of hers. I smiled at her and explained she had experienced one of the most famous ghosts of the May-Stringer house. This little girl loved to follow people around the house and hold their hands while on tour. They say she will only go up to people with a good heart and motherly intentions. I explained that maybe the little girl was excited because she found someone who was there with someone that had her mommy with her, and she just wanted to be with the family again. I explained to her I also have seen this little girl, and all she wants is a little love and attention.

For a long time, my co-worker did not listen to my suggestions. However, she would be the first to suggest the May-Stringer house, the location I had told her to visit, to anyone who had the history project. If you are ever in the area and want to see a place full of history and lore, please go. Take the tour and learn a bit about our town and history. I do not have an affiliation with the location, but I have been there a bit, and I walk past that location a lot. You never know who or what you will see.
