 Did He Have a Hole in His Chest?

 

 

 

When you are driving a car, have you ever passed something on the side of the road and did a double take? Did you ever have an experience where you but other people saw the same thing? I have, and this is a story about a man with a hole in his chest. This story happened while my ex-husband and I were separated back in 2014. I must warn you that my ex-husband does not believe in the paranormal and would give me immense grief about watching ghost shows or talking about any stories or events related to ghosts or strange occurrences. My ex-husband had won an award at work and decided to treat his Assistant Manager and the Assistant Manager's wife to dinner and a movie. We had met for dinner and then went to a higher-end movie theater in Wesley Chapel, Florida, to see The Hobbit movie. After the movie, we headed home and turned off Highway 41 to State Road 52 in Land o Lakes. We always took this route as it meets up with Shady Hills Road to head back to where I lived and to the expressway his Assistant Manager needed to take to get home. If you know this corner, it has a Speedway on one corner, and it used to have a mom-and-pop convenience store on the other side of the intersection.

 

As we came around the corner, I will admit I was tired. Even though we had dinner earlier in the day, the movie was quite long, and by the time we headed home, I was feeling the length of the day as it was well after midnight by then. As I was not speaking with my ex, as he was acting like he usually had with me when we were alone, I sat in the passenger seat looking out the window. As we took the corner and drove past the field right after the mom-and-pop shop, I saw the man sitting there. The guy was sitting on his knees and was wearing a leather jacket. At first, I thought it could be a biker who broke down. However, there was no bike visible. Then I thought it could be a local drug user as this area was known for drug sales and use. But then the time dawned on me because by this time of night, except for cars driving through the intersection, the corner was clear.

 

The person I was seeing must have thought the same thing as me. As I was thinking this, I chuckled as I saw the man had stood up and approached the road as we drove past. As we drove past the man, my blood ran cold. I sat up straight as we passed and saw the man had a massive hole in his chest. I said out loud, "What in the world."

 

My ex-husband asked me what I was talking about, and I said, "He had a hole in his chest, and I could see through him."

 

My ex-husband expressed that he thought I was an idiot. He followed with it must have been something on his shirt that looked like a hole in his chest. I was getting extremely frustrated and firmly insisted that I could see the grass behind the man through the hole in his chest. He brushed me off, saying I was making it up for attention because I didn't want him to leave that night as he was living elsewhere. I told him that was not it and thought the guy could have been a ghost. At this time, my ex-husband started to yell at me and told me to stop bringing up stupid stuff like the paranormal and ghosts. He said he would never believe in ghosts and didn't want to hear another word about this. 

 

Then his phone started to ring, and he had put it on speaker phone, and his Assistant Manager started screaming into the phone. His Assistant Manager was driving behind us and saw the same guy with the hole in his chest. My ex-husband was upset but pretended to be in awe of what they saw and ended by saying, "That is so weird."

 

My ex-husband never did apologize to me about that night. However, I have noticed that while we tried to reconcile our marriage, we never stayed out that late at night. Thinking back on that night, the separation and impending divorce made more sense as my beliefs did not matter to him. Almost ten years later, I still try to avoid that area late at night because the feeling I had seeing the man with the hole in his chest still gives me chills. Although there have been many accidents in the area that resulted in death in that area, I have yet to find any reports of victims that had a hole in their chests.
