The trip was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. I had my suitcases in the trunk and was heading to my home across the country. Leaving my parent's home in northern Oregon I began my trip to Key West, Florida. Hugging my Mom she said, "Daddy and I will be behind you with the Uhaul and our truck. Check-in with us later tonight."

"I will Mom," I said. Climbing into my car I started the engine and pulled out of the driveway. Now you may ask, why are your parents coming with you to Key West? Well, the sad truth is that my brother was killed in a robbery a year earlier and we could not take the memories of the home we lived in since my parents were married. Since I worked as a writer and Blogger, We decided that I would buy a home in Key West so both my parents could retire in comfort. Getting to the edge of our town I pulled onto the highway and headed to Florida.

I started to drive on the highway. I was about two hours away from my parents' house when the sky went black. Pulling over to the side of the road everything was dark.Many of the cars on the road pulled over. Taking my phone out of my car I tried to call my parents,  no answer.
