Traveling The Country (Finding my purpose)

Sitting in the office of the real-estate agent and lawyer I signed the papers selling my home. The only home I ever knew since my parents passed. My ex-husband sat smirking with his mistress hanging on his arm. My lawyer patted my hand he said, "Don't worry Maggie you have a big future ahead of you."

My ex signed the purchase agreement and my lawyer said, "Maggie has seven days to finish moving out once the check clears."

My ex mistress Amber looked up and said, "As long as she does not destroy my new house things will be okay."

My lawyer said, "The divorce decree stated she had to sell the house to him. She got all the money from the marriage plus the money she gets for the sale. Remember as part of the divorce she also gets everything inside the house. The items inside are only staying if she decides she does not want to sell or keep it."

Andrew looked over and said, "Maggie you won't be that stupid will you?"

Looking up I said, "I will sell anything I want in the house and then Amber can have my leftovers like she has you. Remember you bought the house but you cannot enter for another seven days after the money clears. By the time the money clears you can meet with Mr. Mathews to get the keys. I will be gone."

Andrew laughed and said, "Oh yes I forgot your going to write and freelance."

Laughing I said, "That's correct my Blog is growing and especially after reading about you and what you and Amber caused. My travels are being followed quite well. So yes I will be blogging, writing, traveling and freelancing all over the US, Canada and South America. Now if you will excuse me I have more work to do at the house so I can leave. Mr. Mathews can you please let me know when the check is cleared so we can get that into the bank."

Mr. Mathews stood up and said, "I will walk you to your car."

We walked out and as we got to the car he asked, "How much more do you need to sell?"

"I have a lot but I have buyer coming by later tonight to look at the stuff I am not taking. I am guessing it will take 48 hours for the check to clear and then I have seven days," I said. "I have most of my stuff already in the RV that I am keeping. I think I have a few days worth of clothes in the house. I have a buyer for all the remaining things and I already have a satchel hidden in the RV with over 40k in cash from what I sold so far. I plan on doing a lot of boon docking and freelancing to earn money for what I need. I also have a lot of food coming from the house the next few days as I plan on leaving the house move in ready."

He chuckled and said, "I am glad Maggie you deserve it after what you lost. Now my wife said you best keep that blog going because she is going to be following you around the country, along with her entire book club."

Extending my hand I said, "Thank you Mr. Mathews. I will keep this rental till I can get to the bank and drop off my part of the check. Hopefully it will be completed soon."

I drove to the home I just sold back to my ex husband and continued on with seeing what I wanted to keep. Thankfully everything that was important to me was already in the RV. I went into the bedroom packing the remaining clothes I had in the room and added them to the RV along with all my bathroom things. When I was on my way home I decided I would start sleeping in the RV as I continued to clean out the home and get rid of what I did not want. I posted on all the Facebook sale page a post stating,"  EVERYTHING MUST GO! I am moving in less than a week and everything in my home is going! For a private tour to go through everything and see what you want to buy DM me here to set up a time. I have a little over 7 days to sell it all."

I sent the message link to Mr. Mathews to sent it to his wife and her friends. He replied back, "That is great Maggie. I will forward that to my wife and a few other people and advised them to have them message you through the link. How soon will you be starting the sales?"

I replied back, "As soon as I get some take out for lunch."

Heading back to the rental car I had I went to pick up assorted food and while in drive through for Chick Fila I had a DM from Mrs. Mathews asking if her book club could come by at 2pm to look around and see if they found anything they wanted. I grabbed my notebook and told her I would block off an hour for her. She replied I might want to block off two as there is ten of them. I gave her the thumbs up sign and write her name on the list. After bringing home enough food to last the next few days I went into the RV and started to eat while I made a change pile. I made sure I had enough ones, fives and tens to make the right change. Then I went through the bag and counted what I had in cash from what I already sold. I had $40k plus and additional $18763 in cash from everything I pawned and sold so far. While speaking to people arranging times people could look through the house and come shop I cleaned up and organized the RV in case I decided to keep more in the home. I made sure the outside doors were locked and everything was open and ready to view.

As I was waiting for Mrs. Mathews and her book club to arrive I went into the pantry. I started to sort the food in the pantry and jar the open items I was keeping. When I filled my picnic basket I took it to the RV and unloaded. I figured that I could go back and forth as I sort. I have a company willing to buy boxes of items when I got down to the last of it. I was on my next basket of pantry items when the doorbell rang. Lifting the basket and placing it on the counter I went to answer the door.

Opening the door I said, "Welcome ladies."

Mrs. Mathews stepped forward and said, "Maggie we have cash and are ready to shop! We just ask to keep us on point we arrived  twenty minutes early to see if there is special instructions?"

Patting her hand I said, "Welcome ladies you have just over two hours to shop. Remember everything in the house is fair game except for the wicker picnic basket on the kitchen counter. As you shop I am deciding if i am still wanting to keep anything so what is in there are items that I will be keeping. If I disappear its only because I ran out to my RV to put things away. Nothing will be held for future purchase and its cash only. We will negotiate any and all prices on anything you find. We can work as a team to load items if they are larger. If you find a door with painters tap sealing it it means that room is empty. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs and we have to be finished by 210 as I have a group coming in at 230. You can schedule another shopping trip with me if you wish after you purchase but be aware spots are filling quickly."

I opened the door and all twelve ladies went in and started to shop. Calling out I said, "I will be in the kitchen pantry or bringing items to my RV if you find anything you want to buy."

I ran the basket out to the RV and emptied it into the RV pantry. When I went back to the pantry I had woman holding a pile of books and she said, "I know these are hardcovers but would you accept $10 for these books?"

Smiling I said, "Of course."

Bagging the books she handed me a 10 and said, "I am going to place these in my car and will be back to search more."

I didn't have much time to sort much more of the pantry as the ladies did a bunch of mini purchases. The biggest purchase of the day was one of the ladies who bought a lot of items from the nursey and we had to fit a bit into her SUV. With five minutes left the ladies scheduled a appointment on day 5. I took Mrs. Mathews number incase it sold out before hand. Since I had fifteen minutes I emptied the picnic basket and decided to get more change and add more cash to my cash bag. I gasped as I counted what I made from the first sale. I added $5000 into my cash bag and that did not include the change I had. Leaving the RV I went into the house and went upstairs to the attic storage unit and pulled out six totes of assorted items. I realized that all these totes were full of my old crafting supplies. Smiling I ran up and grabbed more totes to go through as I know crafting items sell fast. It made my heart happy as I had just taken an old trunk and put it in the living room of the RV to fill with crafting supplies. I was able to get a bunch of the totes from the attic storage before the next group arrived at 230.

When I answered the door I said, "Welcome Mercy Hospitals Nurses! You have until 510 to shop as I have a new group arriving at 530. Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 43 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket on the kitchen counter. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs."

The gentleman who rang the doorbell said, "Maggie thank you for allowing us to have a fun afternoon together. Have people been buying all at once or when they have a handful?"

"People have been shopping as they go," I said. "So you can find me in the formal dining room when you are ready."

The first woman who came up to me had piles of baby clothes and she said, "I found these and girl I am thankful. Clothes are so expensive. Will you take twenty for the entire pile?"

I smiled and said, "Sure will."

I bagged up the clothes, and she went outside putting the clothes in her car. Many of the nurses did a lot of small purchases and one of the nurses came up to me and said, "I am so glad she got the clothes she has been so stressed. Would you take 75 for the crib and mattress. I want to buy it for the girl she is doing  this solo."

Nodding I said, "Yes I will do you need help getting it out?"

"Nope we have it coming down the stairs now," She said. She went outside and said, "Becky girl we have a surprise for you. Don't worry I will drive it home."

When the young woman saw the crib she started crying. I brought out some twine to secure the crib and the ladies went back inside to shop. Another gentleman bought the toybox and book shelf for their co worker. A lot of baby items were purchased that day and I am glad my tragic loss was their gain. When I gave the fifteen minute warning everyone came down with their final purchases and were out the door by 5pm.

I grabbed the few craft supplies that I was able to sort and brought them to the RV. Sitting down for a moment I grabbed a chicken sandwich and heated it up to eat as I unpacked and counted my money. I was shocked as I separated the change and money to put in the safe. I added another 6825 to the safe. I will admit my ex and I were a bit of hoarders. Him more than I was. So the fact I was making money here does not shock me.

Grabbing my stuff I had a 530 appointment for a Grandma's group. They were scheduled till 7 because I had a friend who is a professional buyer coming by at 730 to go over the house to buy what he wants. A few minutes before 530 the door bell rang and I answered to see a group of smiling Grandmas. Smiling I said, "Welcome ladies. These are the rules. Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 43 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket on the kitchen counter. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs."

One of the ladies kept back and said, "Thank you sweetheart. I follow your blog and I am so sorry for everything you been through. I can't wait to see your adventures coming up and everyone you meet!"

She walked off and I went back to the pantry as the ladies were going through the crafting piles. They purchased things on and off while I went back and forth to the RV. When they left a few minutes before seven I went to the RV and unpacked my basket of food. Looking in my pantry I realized how unorganized that big kitchen pantry was. I did realize as I sat down we had a lot open and a lot that had to be thrown out. I counted my change and put another $2000 in the safe bag. After I finished I went inside and looked through the house.

Knowing how stressful this day has been I started to go room for room. I started to think about all the stuff still left and how I was not unhappy about getting rid of everything. I went into the pantry and continued to sort and pack my basket up. At 730 the door bell rang and when I answered the door my friend Dan was standing there with his wife Kay. I hugged them both and Dan said, "Hey Mags how did everything go?"

"Well the divorce is final," I said. "Amber is fighting for the scraps of my life with Andrew. They think that I am leaving everything here. Little did they know that is not happening. So you all can go room to room and any cabinet. I am working in the kitchen pantry right now. If you get a pile we can do pay as you go. As I finish rooms I will be putting painters tape on the cabinet and doors in each room. I know we have a standing appointment for the next five days. If we sell out before hand you will get first dibs. Remember starting tomorrow I am going to be making mystery boxes as well with a set price."

Dan nodded and said, "If you don't mind I am going to grab a crate and start snooping the items in the garage first."

I went into the pantry and finished cleaning it out. When It was empty I grabbed the vacuum and vacuumed it out. I tapped the door to the pantry and went to walk outside when Dan came in with a crate full of old tools. He said, "Will you take $500 for all these they are old tools and a few car parts?"

I said, "Sure."

He paid. I stuck the money in my pocket and went into the RV, putting things away. When I came back in Kay had the rocking chair from the tv room and a pile of clothes from the nursery. She paid and Dan loaded them to the cargo van. He came in and asked,  "Do you want to sell portable deep freezer or the big deep freezer. Looking at him I said, "I am not sure how much is in them."

Kay came in and said, "Not much in the portable one. That would be perfect in your RV. The big one does not have much in it either."

"Well then I will sell the deep freezer. I need to put the frozen stuff in the inside freezer so I can thaw the portable freezer if it needs it," I said. "Then I need to get it in the RV."

Dan said, "Well lets get everything inside first. Then we will get the garage door up and the portable one in your RV and the deep freezer in our van."

Looking in the portable deep freezer I realized I did not need to even thaw it. I plugged it in. Kay came up and asked, "Will Andrew be mad the appliances are gone?"

"He does not have any leg to stand on as the contract stated appliances did not come with the home," I said.

Kay said, "Then the washer and dryer are for sale?"

"Yes they are," I said.

"We will discuss that tonight and if they are still here tomorrow then we will decide," She said. "But for now we are going to shut the garage and go through the rest of the house."

"I am going to clean out the fridge," I said. "Let me know when your ready to buy more."

On and off while Dan and Kay bought things I worked on cleaning out the fridge. I finished the fridge and put a sign that the fridge, dishwasher and stove were also for sale. Around 9pm Dan and Kay came to me and bought more items. When they left I went through the house, making sure the doors or cabinets were open if they room had items and the lights got shut off. I locked up the house after checking the doors and went into the RV. I answered and set up a few more sales for the week. Since I had seven groups or private sales tomorrow I went ahead and made change bundles So it was done. I figured in the morning I would grab more totes from attic storage and make a mystery boxes. Emptying the cash from my last sale I added 4300 to the cash bag. After that I took a shower and went to lay in bed. I updated the blog explaining what was going with the sale and went to sleep.

**************************************************************************

The following morning I woke up at six in the morning and made myself a cup of coffee and heated myself up a breakfast sandwich I got yesterday after court. After making everything I headed to the house with my picnic basket, box and food. I went upstairs and went into Andrews closet. When he left he left a full closet of clothes as he wanted to look younger for Amber. Going into the closet I took the box and grabbed all the same size of men's t-shirts and polos. I looked through to see if there was anything I wanted. After I grabbed a few t-shirts I wanted I sorted everything to the sizes and filled the first box. I labeled the box Men's T-shirts and Polo's mystery box size large. I sealed and priced the box for $25.00. Bringing the box downstairs I placed it on the kitchen counter and took another box upstairs. At 8am when I was on box number three my phone rang and it was Mr. Mathews.

"Hello Mr. Mathews how are you doing," I asked.

"Good Morning Maggie I wanted to let you know that the check posted and cleared," He said. "So the count down starts today."

"Okay no worries," I said. "Yesterdays sales were big and I have 7 groups coming in today. I just finished my third mystery box from Andrews closet. I am going to grab a few more boxes and work on my crafting and holiday crates since I pulled most down from the attic storage yesterday. The way things are going I will probably be finishing a lot of rooms in the next two days. I also have a buyer that comes every night to pick further through everything. He asked if he can bring some of his big shoppers the next few nights. I told him as long as they know its cash only."

"Well I have already initiated the funds to your account," He said. "Your bank said it should take forty eight hours."

"Good," I said. "I can't wait to see the amount of money go up in my main checking account."

After I emptied my basket and refilled my coffee. Grabbing the change for the first sale group I went to the house and started to get ready. When the doorbell chimed I went to it and opened the door saying, "Good afternoon Members of the St Mary's Charity group."

The priest stepped up and said, "Maggie thank you for allowing us to come and look around. We understand that you need the money and we are looking for things to use in our fundraisers as well as stuff for our own homes. So if you have any rules we would need to know."

I said, "Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 42 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket. If you find a door with painters tap sealing it it means that room or cabinet is empty. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs. You need to be out by 11am as the next group arrives at 1130am."

I opened the door and the church members went in and started to search. One of the members asked about the mystery boxes and when I explained what they were. I also explained that I have to be out in seven days so I am now packing things to make easier on me. They all understood the concept and I said the number on the corner is the amount of items in the box.

The pastors wife said, "So this box for $25.00 has 18 men's extra large button down dress shirts?"

Smiling I said, "That is correct. I will always make sure the price is a great deal for what is in the boxes. Back in the day I worked retail and I know my prices."

She nodded and said, "That is a great deal then."

As she walked away I called out, "You have 1hr and 30 min left. I will be in the library when you want to check out."

I grabbed my box and my basket walking into the library. I went over to a bookcase that had nothing but old romance novels and started to sort through them creating mystery boxes. Carrying my basket and a pile of mystery boxes to the entry way i decided to start placing the mystery boxes on the built in counter I called out another time warning. I let everyone know I would be in the entry way if they needed to find me. Moving everything but the boxes off the counter I grabbed the boxes with the men's clothes as well. Sitting in the entry way I had sold piles of items and the last people to leave were the pastor and his wife. They thanked me for my time and everyone was gone by 1030am. I brought the few books I decided to keep and went to the RV. Going in I placed some of the ones and fives into a bag for change and then added another 2100 to the cash bag.

Grabbing the new change pile for when a group of family members arrived I went back to the house and went to go to the attic storage and pulled all the totes back to the dining room. I cleaned the attic storage room and taped the door. Going into the pool house bathroom I started to clean it out. I was almost finished when my fifteen minute alarm went off. I took the mystery boxes to the entry way and I took the basket to the RV to empty. When I left the RV a group was waiting by the door.

"Hello Williams family how are you today?" I said.

The father stepped forward and said, "Maggie thank you for fitting us in. What rules do you have before we shop."

I said, "Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 41 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. Also Mystery boxes cannot be opened as they are priced to sell. As you shop I am deciding if i am still wanting to keep anything so what is in there are items that I will be keeping. If I disappear its only because I run out to my RV to put things away. Nothing will be held for future purchase and its cash only. We will negotiate any and all prices on anything you find. We can work as a team to load items if they are larger. If you find a door with painters tap sealing it it means that room or cabinet is empty. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs. You have until 1240 to shop and purchase as I have another group arriving at 1."

Opening the door everyone went to different rooms in the house and started to shop. I went to the kitchen and started to sort the kitchen linens as people started to bring items to me to purchase. When I gave the final warning people lined up to pay as some left. I went to the RV to switch everything out and went back into the house again. A moment later there was another knock at the door. I opened the door for a couple and asked, "Mr and Mrs. Geraldy?"

The woman smiled and said, "Thank you for fitting us in. Do you have any rules before we shop?"

If I disappear its only because I ran out to my RV to put things away. Nothing will be held for future purchase and its cash only. We will negotiate any and all prices on anything you find. We can work as a team to load items if they are larger. If you find a door with painters tap sealing it it means that room or cabinet is empty. Also I will give you a 15 min count downs. You have until 210 to finish and pay as I have another group at 230pm and I need to reset."

I moved aside and they started to look around. The husband came out and said, "I am going to get a laundry basket my wife found your library and wants to get a bunch."

Chuckling to himself he went out the door and pulled a rolling laundry basket back with him. I heard him say get whatever you wish my love I will leave the basket with you. He started to look through all the rooms and came back purchasing various pieces. When the laundry basket was full she came out and they purchased what she had and thanked me for my time adding a appointment later that week if I had more left. I added two more mystery boxes to the pile and switched things out for the next group.

Grabbing a sandwich from the fridge I went back to the house and grabbing a box I started to sort in the dining room. When I heard I knock I answered and saw a woman from the original book group that came and said, "Mrs. Berry its a pleasure to see you again. You know the rules already I see you have a laundry basket to shop with this time."

"Oh yes my dear I do," She said. "I am going to fill her full and I have four more of her friends in the van. How long do I have to shop?"

"Mrs. Berry you have until 340 to shop so you take your time," I said. "You know the rules already so I will be finishing the area I am sorting in the dining room making a mystery box and since its just you I will be going to the pool house through those doors to work in there for a while. Just call for me when your ready."

"Oh I see your mystery boxes so remind me before I leave to check if there is anything there I want, "You have sold a bit I see. How many rooms are left?"

"Fourty one and my 7 day timer started today," I said.

"You will get it all done my dear," She said. "Also can you help me load and furniture pieced if I find any. My son was supposed to join me but he is late."

"Of course take your time and let me know," I said.

She went off to shop and I finished filling a mystery box from the dining room. I was going to head out to the pool house when she stopped me and said, "Can we price this mess and those two lounge chairs. I want them."

We settled on a price when there was a knock at the door. I opened it and Mrs. Berry said, "Caleb why are you here instead of your Dad?"

"Sorry Grams Dad had an issue at work and he said you wanted a truck for some furniture you wanted to buy," He said. "So I offered to come here and help load things so you can shop freely."

I pointed to the lounge chairs and the rolling basket and said, "That's what she wanted for now but she still has till 340 to finish shopping. So enjoy and I am going to work in the pool house bathroom."

"Wait you have a pool house I never even went out there last time," She said. She followed me out and saw the wicker furniture and said, "A thousand for the chairs and couch?"

I nodded and she handed me the money. Looking at Calab I asked, "Do you need help?"

"Nah," He said. "My friend Max drove over with me so I will get him to help. Grams do you want any more furniture out here?"

"Yes Maggie I want the tables and shelves as well," She said. "Another thousand for that?"

"That sounds good," I said. "Let me grab a few totes to put everything in."

Calab went outside and came back with his friend. Mrs. Berry handed me money and said, "Boys help Maggie clear off the items but do not break anything as she has more to sell. I am going to search the rest of the house."

As we were clearing the decor and items off the furniture Max asked, "Maggie do you have any bed sets you would sell at a discount?"

"What is your price range?" I asked.

Looking into his wallet he said, "I have about $700."

"I have a bed for $300 which is almost new you can get that the headboard and frame," I said. "You can even have the sheets, pillows and blanket from the bed. I have not gotten through the dressers or tables sorted yet. I can show you so you guys can keep loading while I finish clearing the items."

I showed him the bed from the master bedroom and he asked, "Why are you selling the bed so cheap? That mattress sells used for a few thousand?"

I smiled and said, "Everything must go because i sold the house and will be moved out in a little over six days."

Max handed me $300 and said, "Thank god I brought my own truck with me. Come on Caleb, lets get everything loaded before your Grams runs out of time."

I went downstairs leaving Mrs. Berry to snoop the closet and dressers. I cleared all the furniture and everything was loaded when Mrs. Berry came back and said, "Well my dear I will be back with the book club before things sell out I hope. I want what's in this basket and two of the book mystery boxes."

After she paid for everything she hugged me and said, "Well dear if you sell out before I see you again I will be reading your Blog."

I followed them out and went into the RV to switch out money and empty my basket. I grabbed a new water bottle and went back to the house. I notice I had another thirty minutes so I finished the bathroom in the pool house. I sealed the mystery box from that bathroom, marked the item count and sealed it shut placing the price on the side. Cleaning up the room I shut the door and sealed it with painters tape.

When there was a knock at the door I opened it and said, "Mr. Martez?"

"Yes I am," He said. "So I am here till get some good deals."

"Well there are a few rules," I said. "Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 40 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. Also Mystery boxes cannot be opened as they are priced to sell. As you shop I am deciding if i am still wanting to keep anything so what is in there are items that I will be keeping. If I disappear its only because I ran out to my RV to put things away. Nothing will be held for future purchase and its cash only. We will negotiate any and all prices on anything you find. We can work as a team to load items if they are larger. If you find a door with painters tap sealing it it means that room or cabinet is empty. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs. You have until 510 to be finished looking and paying as my next buyers come in at 530 and I need time to reset."

He gave me a look and said, "Mystery boxes?"

"Yes I have six days to move," I said. "I will give reasonable deals but I will not allow nickel and diming."

"Oh no dear I do not shop these sales unless I get things for pennies on the dollar," He said.

"Well then lets not waste each others time," I said. "I am making money to live on for travels and to create content. I will not tolerate disrespect."

He looked at me and said, "Bitch."

"Leave now and do not come back," I said as I went to shut the door.

He slapped his hand on the door and said, "I will ruin your sales for the week."

"You can try," I said. "Everyone else was amazing with the rules now leave as I can go through rooms and continue to pack my mystery boxes."

I heard him peel out and I went into the pool house and opened the closet where we had pool stuff stored. I made sure my timers were ready for the next guests and cleaned out the closet. I had to take a few trips to the RV to bring some items when my basket was filled. I added a couple of mystery boxes to the entry way. When my alarm went off for the next group to come and visit I had finished the pool house closet and taped it off.

At 520 there was a knock at the door. I opened the door and said, "Mikelia Family?"

An older man stepped up and said, "Maggie we spoke on the phone I am a friend of Mr. Mathews. What should we know before we start to shop."

Smiling I said, "Welcome Everyone. Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 39 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. You have until 710 tonight to shop and pay as I have my next sale at 730 and I have to reset."

Mr. Mikelia slapped his hands together and said, "Wonderful we will do you proud my dear. Where will you be?"

"I will be right in the dining room going through my totes from my attic storage," I said. "All the doors and cabinets are open. Please feel free to go through drawers and cabinets and baskets you find. Just leave the mystery boxes sealed."

They all went in and people started to go to different rooms. Grabbing a box from the stack I had on the kitchen counter I opened a tote of crafting supplies. I kept a count of how many items, sealed and priced the box adding it to the entry way. Mr. Mikelia found me and asked, "Would you take $1000 for the formal couch and love seat together?"

"Yes," I said. "Do you have a way to bring it home?"

He laughed and said, "Of course."

He paid and then him and two of the other men carried it out to an awaiting trailer. The family kept shopping and when I gave the last fifteen minute warning Mr. Mikelia had everyone come to pay and leave. Once they left I went to my RV and unpacked my basket. I changed out the change and put the money in the bag.  After I put it back in the safe I headed back to the house Dan pulled up with Kay. Dan opened the Van and Kay came over and asked, "Did you have an issue with someone today?"

"Oh you mean Mr. Martez?" I asked. "He is a self centered dick."

"Oh he came into the store and had nothing nice to say about you," She said. "Do not worry though because Dan put him in his pompous place. He said something about Mystery Boxes?"

Chuckling I said, "Yes as you are going room to room I am going through rooms and making mystery boxes. Each box has the amount of items in the box, the type of box it is and the price. I have six days left to go and although I have sold a lot of items I still have 39 rooms to get done and this is a solution so Andrew does not have anything left here to fawn over."

She nodded and said, "Well show me those boxes. Are they selling?"

"Oh yeah," I said. "So where are they people you are bringing?"

Dan walked up and said, "They should be here in the next thirty minutes. The washer and dryer is still here isn't it?"

"Sure is," I said.

"Here is two grand as I know the price on them," He said.  "Kay is upgrading the laundry room at the store. My friend Matt is one of my guests tonight an he will help me load everything when he gets here. Kay baby which room are you going to start in?"

Grabbing a rolling crate she said, "I am going to check out the gaming room first. Maggie where are you going to be?"

"Pool house," I said. "I sold most of the furniture and want to pack the remaining decor as a mystery box and hopefully someone wants to buy the lamps and patio furniture."

"Well a friend of mine is going to be looking at all the furniture you have left and offer you for some pieces." Dan said. "I will tell you that they are willing to spend so things will be picked over tonight."

"Well they have till 9," I said. "When you all leave I am going to eat and sleep for a while. My first sale is not until eleven tomorrow."

As we went to go in Dan introduced me to his friends who were also sellers and I explained I will be in the pool house. I went in and made a mystery box with all the pool house decor. I brought the box into the entry way and one of Dans friends said, "I want to buy all the patio items. Will you take 2000 for the furniture and grill?"

"Sure," I said as he handed me cash.

Going back into the pool house I grabbed the lamps and put them into the entry way next to the mystery boxes. Cleaning the pool house out removed the tape off the doors and  I swept the pool area once the items were taken off. I locked up the doors and closed the blinds to the pool. When we bought the house the pool and the pool house was one of the selling points for us. Going into the greenhouse I quickly decided that the overgrown plants were not worth going through. I did grab some of the five gallon buckets and added them to the outdoor storage bins in the RV. After taking my gardening basket from the shelf I added a few of the tools and kept them as well. All my seeds and additional gardening tools went into a mystery box. One of the ladies came out and asked, "Will you miss the greenhouse?"

"Yeah," I said. "Especially since I know that this room will never be used."

"Well I garden," She said. "You have a lot of pots out here. I am buying them all. Would you take 100 for all the containers?"

I nodded and she handed me the money, "Take your time let me know when your done getting them out."

After I left the greenhouse I made quite a few more sales and by the time she finished getting all the pots it was 9pm. Everyone finished their final purchases and I waved goodbye. Dan came over and said, "We want to buy all your mystery boxes you have so far. Priced as marked right?"

"Yes they are," I said. Once Dan paid for the mystery boxes and Kays four baskets of items they loaded them up and I called out, "See you all tomorrow."

I went into the RV with the picnic basket and put the money away. I made change for the sales I had tomorrow. With only four sales groups tomorrow I knew I would be up early and packing more mystery boxes. I checked my freelance account and noticed I had more sales and views. Then I checked the main checking account and I discovered that the money from the sale of the house cleared. Feeling better about everything I grabbed food from the fridge and heated it up. Eating at the table I blogged for a while and headed for a shower. When I climbed into the bed I fell asleep fast.

I woke up to a rain storm. I got dressed and made some coffee sitting in the living room realizing this was going to be my life from now on. No schedule or bowing down to a husband that did not appreciate me. I grabbed my sweater and a garbage bag to put over my basket. Grabbing the first thing of change I went into the house and locked the door behind me. Opening all the doors to all the rooms remaining and checking to make sure all the drawers and cabinets were open. I grabbed a few boxes and headed up to the master bedroom to my closet.

As I sorted everything in the closet and only found a few other pieces of clothing I was keeping. I was able to finish stuffing the mystery box with a few things that were left in my old dresser. I looked at all my shoes left and decided to keep a few more pairs along with a few boots. Then I filled two more mystery boxes with my shoes. Once I vacuumed the closet I closed and taped the door. I went into Andrews closet and finished clearing it out and creating more mystery boxes as well. I cleaned out and taped the door. I went into the master bathroom. I had got about half the room cleared out when I heard the doorbell ring. I grabbed the mystery boxes I had made and brought them down with me.

The doorbell rang again and when I opened it stood a woman. Looking at her I said, "Hi can I help you?"

"Hello I was told this was the house that had items for sale," She said.

"Yes it is but I am sorry it is by appointment only," I said. "I can make you an appointment but I will let you know that there may not be anything left by then."

"Oh," She said. "Amber told me I could just come by."

I snorted and said, "Amber sent you?"

"Yeah," She said.

"I'm sorry but the appointments need to be made ahead of time," I said.

"Your not a friend of Amber and Andrews?" She asked.

"No," I said. "I am Andrews ex wife. The one he cheated on to be with Amber."

"I am so sorry," She said. "She probably sent me here clueless because we are not best friends. I think after this I am done with her. She always said my business is a joke. Listen I am sorry to bother you. I have a crafting business and I make things with kitchen items and old books plus craft things."

I looked at my watch and it was only 9:15. Looking at her I felt she was being honest and said, "Listen you seem legit. They love to make fools of people. I was making mystery boxes for people to buy. If I had people here I would say no but you are welcome to check the kitchen, library and the tote bins of craft supplies. It is a cash only sale."

She looked up and said, "Thank you I am Kaylene."

Stepping back I said, "Hi Kaylene. You can look for about an hour. Do you have any baskets or boxes you can put the things in."

"Yes," She said. "I have laundry baskets."

"Ok go get them," I said. "But please leave your phone in the car."

"I get it," She said. "Please understand I will not tell her anything and she is going to get a earful for putting me in this position.

She went to her car and brought back a laundry basket. We went to the kitchen and I pointed to the open cabinets saying, "Go for it."

She smiled and said, "Oh you pretty things come to Mama you are going to be Art."

Laughing I went to another cabinet and started to make a mystery box. I said, "What kind of art do you make?"

We talked about her home business as she filled her first basket. After she paid for the first basket she said, "I cannot believe she wanted to move into the house you lived with your ex. I will be right back."

For the next hour we talked about my writing, blog and her business and we exchanged business cards. When her hour alarm went off she scheduled a appointment for later that week incase there was anything left. After she left I took the items I had decided to keep and did a trip back to the RV. I went to the library and made a few mystery boxes of books. When the alarm went off I moved things to the entry way. I decided that I could knock out the dining room as it was right next to the entry way. When I heard the knock at the door I opened it and said, "Welcome friends of animals social group."

A bubbly woman stepped up and said, "Maggie we are here to buy what we can. What are your rules."

Smiling I said, "Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 36 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. You have until 140pm to finish your purchases and pay. I have another group coming at 2pm."

She smiled and asked, "If we find furniture we like if there is are belongings in it can we place it on the floor and bring the furniture down to the entry way to pay for?"

"Yes you may," I said. "I did place extra laundry baskets in the rooms to do that in case anyone wanted to buy any furniture. I will be here in the dining room working on mystery boxes and making sure there is nothing left I may want. If you find it first you get first dibs."

I saw a lot of rolling carts and laundry baskets. I pointed people to the rooms they may want to shop in and started to go through the china cabinet in the dining room. It was fun listening to people chat while they went through things. There was not much sorting at points and I had a gentleman ask, "May I buy your dining room table?"

After we set a price he started moving the totes away and he starting taking the chairs out the door. He came in and asked, "Do you have a ziploc bag I can put the screws in?"

I handed him one from my basket and he took apart the table. He came back and bought all of the fake potted plants that were throughout the house.  After he loaded them he went to the garage with a wooden crate. I had various people come back with lamps and tables and baskets of things. By the time I gave the final 15 min warning there was only the gentleman left and he asked for an appointment at the end incase there was anything left. He paid for another basket of items from the garage and left. I took my basket to unpack and went to get more change.

When I came back I noticed the drawers under the stairs were becoming empty. Drinking my water I waited for the next group of buyers as I continued on in the dining room. When the knock came at the door I opened it and said, "Welcome everyone who is Molly?"

A young woman came and said, "Thats me. What are the rules Maggie?"

I gave the speech again saying, "Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 36 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. You have until 340 to shop and pay as my next group arrives at 4 and I need to reset everything."

This group also had crates and baskets on wheels. It was a busy hour while they shopped and paid and by the time they left I didn't even need to give a time warning. I left my basket on the pile of totes and went to the RV to switch out change. When I got back I went through the house and made sure everything was open for the next group of guests. I was fortunate it was another hospital group and when the knocking at the door happened I opened and said, "Medical staff from St Mercy welcome. The rules are everything in the house is fair game in the 36 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. You have until 710 to finish shopping and to pay as I have another group at 730 and have to reset everything before they arrive."

Everyone cheered and went into the house to shop. While I was in the entry way a women came up with a cart full of baby items. She smiled and said, "I know I cleared the closet and the dresser. I would love to buy all if this plus the bookshelf. But I did find this on the floor next to the bookshelf and I thought you would want this back."

She handed me a photo frame with a sonogram picture in it. Closing my eyes I said, "Thank you so much."

She put her hand on mine and said, "I know you lost your little angel because I read your blog. I wish I could say that I do not know the pain you feel. But I do. All I can say is the pain does not always go away but you learn how to deal with it. My baby is a rainbow baby and I hope you experience this one day."

She hugged me and handed me a tissue. I said, "Thank you. Let me help you bring down the shelf."

"There is no need," a gentleman said bringing own the shelf. "I did try to get the items from the bathroom but Mrs. Martha chased me from your nursery bathroom and said if I didn't let her buy it for us she was going to beat me. But I think she is getting things for herself as well as she was sorting into two baskets. Maggie I hope after we leave you find it easier to shut down these rooms. Also I am patiently waiting for the next book in The Town Series."

Smiling I said, "Thank you. Amy is an amazing character and I am hoping her character continues to evolve."

For the rest of the time people came up and purchased items and talked about the books I was writing. I made many promises to get back to writing after I left the house and got set up in my first spot. When i gave the last fifteen minute warning I heard groans and everyone came up with their purchases. With a lot of hugs and kind words I waved off the staff as they left. I went to the RV and added money to the safe and grabbed a new change pile. I emptied the basket placing the picture frame on a small shelf in my room. I took my basket and a small snack and went into the house.

While I waited for Dan and Kay to arrive I went to the nursey and looked through what was left. The closet was empty so i secured it shut. Going into the bathroom I finished cleaning out the bathroom and took the mystery box down to the entry way. Returning to the nursery the only item left was the rocking chair. I sat in the chair and closed my eyes. I woke up when I felt a hand on my arm. Opening my eyes I found Kay kneeling next to me.

"Hey," She said. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah," I said. "No. I don't know."

"We knocked and when you didn't answer I came in to find you," She said. "I am buying the rocker when you get up. Our guests will be here soon do you want me to give them the rules."

"No," I said. "I'll handle it. But thank you. I know this room would be the hardest but it had to be done."

She hugged me and said, "Andrew better hope I never find him in a dark alley for what he did to you."

I laughed and said, "Kay you barely hit 5 foot 2. But I have no doubt the damage you can do."

Standing up Dan came in and took the rocker. I had known him for close to twenty years and he knows how much this has killed me. We headed downstairs after I taped the door. When Dan paid he said, "Everyone is starting to arrive. I am going to hit up that attic lounge first thing. I forgot you had all the bar stuff set up like a speakeasy. What room will you be in tonight?"

"I am actually going to start in the entry way," I said. "As its just some furniture and knickknacks I am going to mystery box the knickknacks from there I am going to decide after that."

He nodded and said, "I told him there is a lot of furniture left in the guestrooms and maids quarters. Do not be surprised if you sell a lot of furniture tonight my friend Ben is setting up his daughters new house and he may be trying to buy more than me tonight."

We went downstairs and went outside. I said, "Welcome everyone. Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 32 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. You have until 930 tonight to purchase and buy because I am exhausted."

Everyone laughed as I opened the door and they headed inside. After about fifteen minutes a man came up and said, "Maggie? I am Ben Dans friend. I cleared the breakfast table, side board and small shelf unit from the room. I am buying it from you. Is 500 good for that?"

Nodding I took the money and continued on with the mystery box. He came back a while later and said, "I'm back again the second guest room I am buying the bed, two side table and dressers. My wife is emptying everything while my soon to be son in law is bringing everything down. Would you take 700 for that whole set?"

"Its a deal," I said.

Dan came down with the table from the attic lounge and his employees had the chairs. I laughed as he handed me cash and said, "I am taking all the tables and chairs and the side board. Kay emptied it already. Some items we crated for us and the rest she placed in a laundry basket."

A older woman came in with a rolling cart full of books and she paid and we negotiated for all the chairs and tables in the reading area upstairs. She said, "Books are for me and I am not done yet. But I placed all the stuff on the tables up there in a basket. Ben is my cousin and those would go so good in the house he is setting up as a wedding gift."

A elderly gentleman came up and said, "Would you accept a grand for that office desk? Its beautiful."

Nodding I said, "Take good care of her she was the desk I wrote many of my books at."

I went into the kitchen and kept cleaning out the cabinets and drawers making mystery boxes. My alarm went off for the halfway point and I called it out. A voice in the house said, "You heard the lady move your behinds for what you want."

Dan came up and asked, "I know your tired but would you be willing to extend the time a bit? Everyone is finding what they want and are willing to spend."

Looking at my list I said, "Yes I took tomorrow morning as a day to sleep in and then make boxes till noon. I am running to get a sandwich I have in the RV and unpack the basket. I will be back in 10 minutes."

Going into the RV I unpacked more items and grabbed a sandwich. Going back into the house I went into the kitchen and opened the fridge to finish cleaning it out. Ben came in and asked, "Is the fridge for sale?"

"It sure is," I said. "I am cleaning out the food now. Its brand new and I paid a lot for it. But since you are buying for your daughter I will take $1000."

He handed me the cash and said, "Deal. My wife will be in here in a minute to look through the cabinets. I know why your selling and I hope you nothing but happiness but thank you for this."

Between going back in forth I filled the RV with the food that was left in the refrigerator. When I came back from emptying the garbage Bens wife had three crates of kitchen items and said, "She had a bridal shower but people did not get a lot for the new house. She thinks we are buying her things for the apartment my son in law has. She is being surprised next week. But for now you have amazing items would you take $400 for all these small kitchen items?"

I said, "Anything for the cause."

Ben came in and said, "Thank god we came with a moving truck. Baby I would say check out the maid quarters there is a second bed set with dresser that I like better than the other guest room. Tell me which one you like better."

I took my basket and a new box to the drawers under the stairs. Dan came buy with boxes from the lounge and handed me money. He asked, "Damn Maggie those mystery boxes are insane. My staff said those are deals and a half."

Laughing I said, "Just getting it sold my friend."

Bens wife came back and said, "I want the furniture in both the second guest room and the maids room. They have a three bedroom house and I noticed that the other guest room is a day bed that converts. Ben said 2200 for both sets and we emptied everything from the furniture."

I put my hand out and they paid. Bens cousin came back with more books and paid. They finished packing their furniture and said, "We will be back tomorrow night to see what you have left with Dan and Kay."

At eleven that night Dan and Kay bought everything in the entry way and when they left I went room to room and realized I was almost done with the bigger items. I made sure everything was ready for the next day and locked the house. Going to the RV I made change set ups Adding the remaining cash to the RV bag making sure the safe was secured.

Grabbing a sandwich for the second time that night I sat at the table and ate as I updated the blog. I did post that there may not be much left for later in the week. After I locked my door I took a shower and went to bed.

******************************************************************

When I woke up the next day I said, "Five days left."

I got up and ready for the day putting on a load of laundry. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich and a water bottle heading into the main house. My phone chirped when I walked in and I saw a message that said, "Did you really get rid of everything in my house?"

Laughing I replied, "I got rid of most of the items in my house per the divorce decree. The house will be empty when you take possession. Now please leave me alone we have nothing to say to each other. If things go well you may be able to move in sooner than five days."

I went up to the reading area and started to make boxes and then I dragged the floor lamp and mystery boxes to the entry way. By the time the one hour before guest arrive I had finished the maids bathroom, closet and bedroom. I also pulled everything out of the entry way closet and made mystery boxes for all the coats I decided not to keep. I went to the master bedroom office nook and cleaned it out as it was almost empty. Pulling the chair and lamps downstairs I finished that small area as there was a knock at the door.

Going downstairs I opened the door and said, "Welcome Ministry church members."

The pastor came up and said, "Maggie we are here to snoop and shop. What are the rules?"

Chuckling I said, "Remember everything in the house is fair game in the 26 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. You have until 240 to shop and pay as I have another group arriving at 3 and I need to reset the house."

The pastor said, "Perfect. Remember church members this lovely lady will direct you but follow the rules and abide by the closed room tape. You all have baskets and more in your car to switch out."

I opened the door and they entered the house. As they were going in a woman asked, "Do you happen to have seasonal decorations?"

"Yes I do if you go into the formal dining room there is an open closet," I said. "All the totes are labeled for which holiday they are for."

She gave a little cheer and headed to the dining room. A gentleman came up with a laundry basket a while later and said, "I will be living your garage until we have to leave."

He kept filling baskets and finding me to buy. The woman who wanted seasonal decorations kept bringing me all the totes buying for every season. With the last tote she said, "Well sweet girl I think I cleared out your seasonal decor. Thank you I had stored everything in my shed and unfortunately there was a forest fire which spared our house but my shed burned like a roman candle. These will be stored in my garage. How much longer do we have?"

Smiling I said, "Thirty minutes I should make an announcement."

"No need," She said. She called out, "Hey all we have thirty minutes."

People started to bring their purchases to pay and leave. The pastor was the last person to leave and he said, "We love your work and your blog. I personally hope your next journey brings you the happiness you greatly deserve."

When they left I ran to the RV and grabbed a wrap from the fridge. Heading back into the house I went to the dining room I went to the closet and grabbed a box to pack up all the linens except two small circle table clothes that were my grams and packed them up for my table in the RV. I taped off the closet and there was a a couple on the porch.

"Mr and Mrs Gratally?" I said.

The older man smiled and shook my hand. His wife said, "Hello Maggie we were supposed to have a group with is but they said that they saw your post and they bowed out."

"Well I am glad you came," I said. "The rules are remember everything in the house is fair game in the 25 rooms of the home except for the wicker picnic basket and the box it is sitting on. Also I will give you all 15 min count downs at the end. You have until 440 to shop as I have a new group at 5 and I have to reset the house."

"Wonderful," He said. "Where will you be when we want to purchase and put items in our van."

"I will be in guest room two," I said. "I am going to take down that closet and room"

They went to the garage as I went up to the second guest room. It did not take long to finish the closet and the room. I brought the mystery boxes down stairs and found a pile of baskets waiting for me. Grabbing a new box I went to the draws under the stairs and finished another box when they came out with more items.

Mrs Gratally said, "We understand packing so we figured we would meet up before to long."

We negotiated a price and I said, "Well while you shop some more I am going to the first guest room and work on that."

It did not take long to finish off the first guest room or closet. Creating a few more boxes I headed downstairs and there were more boxes waiting for me. As we negotiated the price and they gave their farewells. I locked up behind us and headed to the RV. Switching out the change I grabbed a new drink and went back into the house. Going up to the attic lounge I discovered Dan and Kay bought almost everything in the lounge. Since I had about twenty minutes left I was able to finish packing up the attic lounge and went downstairs with the boxes.

There was a knock at the door and when I answered there was a young man and he said, "Hi I am Marshall from the Masters group that was supposed to be here at 5. I am so sorry our group has to cancel as we were given a surprise assignment. I live around the corner so I told the group I would come by and let you know."

"Thank you for letting me know," I said. "I hope your group gets that assignment done soon. I will let my 730 know as I believe part of the group may want to come early."

I sent a text to Dan and he replied, "Do not be surprised if Ben and his wife come by sooner then."

Heading back up to the master bedroom linen closet I started to pack it up. After about twenty minutes I heard the doorbell ring. Grabbing the two boxes I had packed I brought them downstairs and opened the door.

Ben was standing at the door and said, "My wife and son in law will be here shortly. How many more rooms left?"

"There are twenty rooms left and I am almost finished with the small linen closet in the master bedroom," I said. "I will be happy when this is over."

"Well I am going to start in the garage and work my way through the house," He said.

Going back upstairs I finished everything in the master bedroom area. As I sorted what I was doing Ben would bring me crates and pay. By the time his wife and soon to be son in law arrived I had finished everything upstairs. I was able to run back and forth to my RV putting things I was keeping. By the time Dan and Kay arrived I had finished the laundry room and the cabinet under the stairs.

Dan asked, "How many more rooms?"

Smiling I said, "Thirteen."

He chuckled and said, "Well hopefully we can help you get that down to almost nothing tonight."

"Well when you are all looking and getting things together I am going to the library," I said. "All I have left in there is some decor and books. Do you have a lot of people coming tonight?"

"We have four other couples," He said. "I will let them in."

"Good," I said. "I may be able to leave much sooner than I thought."

As I packed away the library I found a few things I wanted to keep and did a few more sales. I finished the kitchen closet and ran some of the items to the RV such as the broom vac and cleaning supplies. Finishing that closet I taped it off. Kay came and found me and said, "I just cleared your linen closet between me and Bens wife except for a few blankets. Did you want any of the ones there or we are buying them as well?"

"Nope I grabbed all the blankets I wanted when I brought the RV home," I said.

They paid and bought everything to their trucks. I went to the breakfast nook and finished packing it up as Kay brought a pile from the game room. Dan came in a bit later and asked, "Do you want the shelves in the garage?"

"No," I said. "Once the garage is empty then they are for sale as well."

Dan chuckled and said, "Well I just packed up the last of the garage so let me pay for that and we can get it loaded. I also have the game room getting packed up now so we will be buying all that as well. We will bring you boxes."

By the time everyone had arrived and was shopping I thought we would be done that night. After a another hour Kay found me and said, "What time was your first sale tomorrow?"

"Noon why?" I said.

"We are staying late and everything will be gone between us and our friends tonight," She said.

"Seriously," I said.

"Yes so go upstairs now and do a final walk through," She said.

When all but Dan, Kay, Dans staff, Ben and his wife were left it was just before nine at night, They packed up all the remaining items. Ben paid for the last of their items and Dan paid for the remaining items and after one last walkthrough downstairs the house was completely sold out and being driven away. Kay stood next to me in the entry way and asked, "It doesn't seem real does it?

"No," I said. "A year ago I would have never imagined that I would be leaving this house and traveling the country."

I shut and locked the door for the last time. Hugging them I said, "Thank you for everything."

They left and I climbed into the RV. Sitting at the table I texted all of the remaining sales that were planned and canceled the remaining sales. I received replies from everyone thanking me and wishing me luck. I sat in the RV and ate my last dinner at my old property. Taking a shower I went to bed thinking that it will be a very big change that I was ready for. When I got up in the morning I had to return the rental car. After I returned the rental car I have to take a cab back to the house and get the RV. Then I had to drive the RV to the cracker barrel next door to Mr. Mathews office. Then I had to hand him the keys go back to the RV and decide where I am going to drive to. After I do that I am going to go food shopping and head to the the first place I will be going.

***********************************************************************

Falling asleep I woke up to my phone ringing.

"Hello," I mumbled as I answered.

"Maggie its Mr. Mathews," He said. "Did I wake you?"

"Yes," I said. "What time is it?"

"A little after nine in the morning," He said. "My wife told me your done at the house. Is it all gone?"

"It sure is," I said. "The money is tucked away and I will be heading to your office after I return the rental car."

"Okay," He said. "So when you bring the keys to me then your RV will be off the property right?"

"That's right," I said. "I am going to park in the cracker barrel parking lot next door to your office. Then I am going to get food there taking it back to the RV to eat to decide which location I am going to tonight. Then to the food store to get some easy food and finish my food shopping. Then I will be on the road after that."

"Okay," He said. "I will see you a bit later today then."

After I hung up I took a second shower and decided that before I headed to Mr. Mathews office I would empty all my tanks and fill my water tank. Going into the safe I took out $500 for the expenses. I hid the bag into the back of the safe and locked the safe. Pulling the false front in front of the safe I locked up the RV and went to take the rental car back. They drove me back to my house and I gave the house one last look as I backed out of the driveway and started the next adventure of my life.

When I got to Mr. Mathews office I walked in and handed him the keys saying, "Thank you for everything you did during the proceedings.

He smiled and said, "Its my pleasure. Now please do the one thing that will make them jealous and live a life you deserve."

Walking over to cracker barrel I ordered a take out order and shopped around the store. When my food was ready I went back to the RV and looked over where I was going. Since it was just before eleven in the morning I looked over the options I had and decided to go to a RV park near Saint Augustine. I booked a two week stay at the park and went into the local Publix and took the six hour drive to St. Augustine.

When I arrived the couple who owned the RV park were excited to meet me as the wife was a fan of my books and blog. When I paid she gave me a good neighbor discount and asked if I enjoyed the park please write a review on my website. I agreed and set myself up at my spot overlooking the water. I decided that I would do a post about the RV park and the views. Sitting in a chair under the awning of my RV I watched the water planning how I would spend my days. I decided everyday would be check the blog, create a new post for it. Then I would freelance for a few hours working like I normally do. Then I would work on my books the newest one and working on more stories. I believed this would be the best way to make sure my accounts stayed healthy and I could continue to live my new life.

My phone rang and l knew that this was going to happen. I picked up the phone and said, "Good evening Andrew did you hear from my lawyer he has the keys."

"You shut everything off and did not leave us anything," He said.

"I sure did," I said. "Everything was in my name so before I left the house for good this morning I called and had everything shut off paying the bills off as there would be no way for me to receive a bill. My PO Box I have will not be able to be checked often. Once I explained the circumstances everything was handled immediately. My mail has been going to the PO Box for over a year now so I have no reason to come home."

"But you even sold the appliances," He said.

"That is correct," I said. "You were told take what you wanted when you moved out and anything left was mine. Plus I paid for the appliances with my work and most of the things in that house. I guess your going to have to fess up to Amber that I made a lot of money that bought the house, put everything in the house, and ran the house except for the two hundred you gave me which paid for the cable tv, gas and water. That didn't even cover those bills. Did you tell her your car payment and insurance on that sports car you drive is a good chunk of your pay?"

"So we have to start with just the things from her apartment?" He said.

"That is correct you are responsible now for your mortgage and everything that goes with the house," I said. "Be prepared its only March 3 and the summer electric bill can be up to $400.00."

"After everything Maggie your going to end it like this?" He asked.

"Seriously," I said. "Your going to say that to me when you caused me the biggest loss in my life."

"You need to get over that Maggie," He said.

"Sure get over the fact I found you and Amber in the guest room having sex," I said. "Then when I went to leave she grabbed my arm causing me to fall down the stairs six months pregnant. That was our child Andrew do you not feel anything for its death."

"Maggie," He said. "I didn't want it you did. Regardless if we had a kid or not I was leaving you."

"You left me and the baby at the bottom of the stairs to die Andrew. If you had called 911 the baby would have survived," I said. "Thank god my phone did not fall out of my pocket. I still can't believe you lied and said I was fine when the police caught up to you after the amount of blood I lost. You both got dressed and left me there to die."

"To bad you didn't though," He said. "I would be making a mint on royalty from your books now wouldn't I."

"Karma will visit you," I said. "But you enjoy the house Andrew. I am currently enjoying the water and travels. If there is nothing else I wish you the best of luck lose my number."

Hanging up the phone I blocked his number. Going inside the RV I made myself a salad for dinner and sat down to start writing. This life looked so much better now and I cannot wait to live it to the fullest.

******************************************************************

The time I spent at the park was calm and peaceful. The owners were sweet and I always saw them talking with or visiting someone. Making good on my promise I spent a morning walking the RV community taking pictures and then I created a post with a link to the parks website. When I showed the owners the blog the wife hugged me and said, "We have had many new bookings already. Thank you so much we appreciate the kind post."

As the days passed I spent my time writing, working and exploring the local area. When I had just a few days left Emma the owner came by and as we drank coffee overlooking the water she asked me, "Have you planned on where your going to next?"

Giving her a smile I said, "Not yet. Are you and Stan trying to keep me around longer?"

She laughed and said, "You know you will always be welcome here Maggie. Although I will say you brought us so much business we may have to put you on our lot next time if we are full."

"You have a great park," I said. "Telling everyone about it was the least I could do. I want to travel but I am not sure where yet."

Stan walked up and said, "You should go to Maine Maggie."

"Maine?" I asked.

"Yes Maine," He said. "Its only the beginning of June and you could go there before the snow hits and be at peace. My brother Lloyd owns a small property on the Atlantic and I spoke to him. He said if you want to come up you can stay there for free and do some local interests post and help the town. They rely on tourists during all times of year. Ever since covid hit the town has had a slump I bet you can do a good deed for them like you did for us?"

Grabbing my laptop I asked for the towns name to look it up. Looking at Stan I asked, "What is the towns name?"

He got a big smile on his face and said, "Mount Hope its right outside of Bangor Maine. It fits you Maggie after everything you have been through you still have hope and maybe you can spread some of that around. Hell I bet you can be inspired to write a book or two in the area as well."

Looking at the town page for Mount Hope I saw the beauty in the town and said, "You know what Stan I bet Mount Hope would be a great place to visit. Want to give me Lloyds number?"

Emma chuckled and said, "No need Maggie he is coming to visit tomorrow and he will speak with your personally. We didn't set you up by the way. He visits us every other month it was just luck that he would be here when you were still here."

"Well I will talk to him tomorrow about Mount Hope," I said. "Today I am going to head into the old town today and be a tourist."

Stan said, "We will drop you off there if you want. I have a Doctors visit in a bit and we are going right past the entrance."

Nodding I said, "That would be great. How soon do you need me to be ready?"

He looked at his watch and said, "An hour."

Emma gave me a hug and said, "We will see you soon sweetheart."

I watched as they walked away with Stans arm draped over Emma's shoulder. Smiling to myself I thought that is the type of love that I want, unconditional and unwavering.  Going into my RV I went to my safe and pulled out $500.00 for things I may want again or any activities. I was preferring to use cash while I was here or the money from my writing account. Opening up my account page I checked my book sales and blog account and transferred the money to my account. Then I checked the balance from what I had transferred from freelancing. Balancing my check registers I grabbed my bag and was ready when Emma called me to leave. Stan dropped me off at the Old Jail Mail Depot and we made plans to meet for an early meal when he was done with his Doctors appointment and errands. After walking around the Old Jail and Mail Depot I headed to the fountain of youth.

Walking around I took man pictures to add to the blog. As I continued to search the area I made my way to Castille de San Marcos. Entering the fort I explored all the nooks and crannies taking many pictures and videos of the reenactor's. I was getting ready to leave the fort and head to the next location when Emma called me and asked if I wanted to meet them at the Cuban Restaurant near the Marina. I told her give me about ten minutes and I would be there.

When I got to the restaurant I saw Emma and Stan waiting on the patio. Walking up to them I said, "After a few hours of exploring I am starving. Todays meal is my treat!"

Stan stood up and said, "I will never say no to a free meal!"

The hostess sat us in a booth over looking the water and I said, "I will say I will miss you both and this area it is so beautiful. But I did some research on Mount Hope. It is mostly Bangor now but if I looked at the town right its near the mount hope cemetery and there are farms and businesses near there."

Stan nodded and said, "That is about right. The farms used to be big draws with horse riding and different events. Even all the shops on main street used to draw in the crowds. But since covid hit the town has hit a slump and even Bangor has slowed down when it comes to tourists."

"Well we will have to do something about Mount Hopes resurrection," I said. "I believe with a bit of good PR we can get her to thrive again. I love being a tourist."

Emma laughed and said, "Well young lady you need to remember to get out there and meet new people as well. You deserve to find the love of your life and be happy."

I took Emma's hand and said, "If one day I find love again you will be the first to know alright?"

She smiled and said, "I better be."

The waiter brought our plates and leaned down to me whispering, "Sorry to bother you Maggie but there is a teen girl who is reading your book The Farm. Would you be bothered if she come over to have you sign the book."

Looking up I said, "Send her over."

A young girl about thirteen come over with her Mom and asked, "Hi my name is Kayla and I love your book The Farm could I ask you to sign my copy Miss Montclair."

"Of course Kayla," I said. "Did you finish it yet?"

"A few times," She said.

Her Mom said, "She has read it about four times and on the way home we are going to get the book The Ghost Zone. Would you mind if she got a picture with you?"

"Of course," I said. We smiled for a picture and I handed her Mom the blog card. "There is a link who I met, would you mind posting the picture of us there! I love keeping up with my fans and readers!"

Kayla's mom said, "Oh we will post it as soon as we get home!"

When they left I looked at the pile of food in front of me and said, "Oh my what did I order the portions are huge!"

I took a picture of the food and started to eat. We all loved the food and at the end of the meal we all needed a box for our leftovers. Stan said, "I guess its a leftover for dinner day."

When we got back to the RV park I sat down at my laptop and started to update the blog and social media pages. Letting everyone know I will be posting about our next location soon. Then I sent a few hours freelancing and working on my books. When the sun started to set I decided that I would make a post after I spoke to Stans brother.

Settling in to bed that night I went to sleep sad to be leaving Saint Augustine. But I was happy to know I would be coming back here soon enough.

******************************************************************

The next morning I made this a lazy day and did a bit of light cleaning as I worked on and off. I had just finished lunch when there was a knock at the door. Opening the door I said, "Well I am assuming your Lloyd Stans brother. There is no mistaking the family resemblance."

He chuckled and said, "I sure am and you must be Maggie."

"I am and Stan tells me you want me to save Mount Hope?" I asked.

He held up a folder and said, "There are a few things I would love help with, how about we sit and chat?"

Standing back I said, "Come in Lloyd I will get us some coffee. Unless you want water, tea, pop or lemonade?"

"No need for coffee," He said. "I could use me a lemonade."

Pouring us each a glass I sat down with a notebook and asked, "What can I do to help you?"

"I am hoping you can get us some tourists," He said. "The day after you posted about my brothers RV park their sales went up sixty percent. I want you to help us with some things around town and help get the tourists coming in Maggie."

"What kind of things would I be helping with around town?" I asked.

"Did my brother tell you I own Mount Hope?" He asked.

"No that is a new detail," I said. "You own the entire town?"

"Yes," He said. "My town consists of a k-12 school, post office, two gas stations, 3 diners, a community center, a theatre, 16 -6 acre farms, a massive graveyard, a fishing pier that holds fifteen shops. a mobile community that had 18 trailers and hook ups for 8 RV's, 176 homes, 8 apartment complexes, sheriff station/fire department, 36 stores, twenty five cabins in our park along the water and the original mayors estate and four motels with fifty rooms each. Its surrounded by mountains and you can get to us by a tunnel through the mountain or the ferry that comes to the pier. We have 600 residents and I want to save our town and bring in new residents. You have a free place to live and You will also get a portion of the sales for the items left behind."

"Left behind?" I asked.

"People left and they left everything here instead of paying to move it," He said. "Our town can hold over 5000 residents but we have only 600 people. Help me save the town. I am begging you."

"That is a lot for one person," I said. "Do I have a team to help me?"

"You will have me and Ben," He said.

"Who is Ben?" I asked. "Also is there places for people to go and stay at and workers to help them?"

"That may be an issue to," He said. "You going to tell me to give up Maggie?"

"Lloyd if I gave up at the first sign of trouble we would have an issue," I said. "I leave here in three days. Will you be flying back and meeting me or do ya wanna take a road trip and we can come up with a plan?"

"I have to get back as Ben handling things in town for me?" He said.

"Who is Ben?" I asked.

"He is my best friends son," He said. "I raised him since he was ten. I want to save mount hope for him and all the kids that stayed."

"Okay," I said. "Well Llyod the Graveyard is in the middle of town right?"

He gave me a smile and said, "You have a plan?"

"You bet your tush I do," I said. "Call ben and tell him when I get there we will be hitting the ground running. Now is there a store and restaurant near the graveyard?"

"Yes," He said. "Got paper?"

I handed him a piece of paper and he drew me a map of downtown. I sat looking at it and said, "Well Lloyd that is where operation save mount hope will be based. Do you own the cafe?"

"No Miss Sally owns the cafe and she keeps that place in top shape," He said. "I own the rest."

"Okay, well tell her and every business they may want to start getting extra supplies. Now the graveyard," I asked. "Does it need some work?"

"It could use a good cleaning and the walls could use a paint job," He said.

"Okay," I said. "This will be a town effort. This will be the basis of the first article I post about Mount Hope. Tell everyone we are getting ready to save the town I have a plan. If you have high school and middle schoolers and anyone who needs community service hours I will take names when I get there."

There was a knock at the door, Emma and Stan popped their heads in and Stan asked, "Did you shoot my brother?"

Laughing I said, "No we are discussing the plan to save Mount Hope. Llyod is handing me a task and I think we can do it."

"Now this building here on the corner its says old bridal store?" I said. "Please tell me that it is empty?"

"I am afraid not," He said. "When She shut down fifteen years ago she sold it to me as is and there is close to a thousand dresses plus accessories."

"Well does the town have a bank?" I asked. "You did not mention one."

"There is a small bank with two workers," He said. "It is inside the emergency services building."

"Okay then," I said. "Can Ben makes signs?"

Llyod said, "He sure can."

"Okay the, the store needs a new sign," I said. "I was thinking we can name it Relics of the Past. We need that sign as soon as possible because that will be ground zero for the town. If we do this right we can get the town ready for a fall festival or spring thaw. By the way how do you get groceries?"

"Right outside the mountain pass there is a Walmart a few miles before it," Llyod said.

"Well I need to inquire about Bridal Stores up north and to see if there are anyone interested in vintage wedding dresses," I said. "I will start making appointments starting for next weekend but I do have contacts still when I was a sales rep. I want to make that store our main store. We will also need someone we can trust as a cashier for when we are open. But that will be a while out still and I can help with hiring if you need it."

Emma said, "Well it looks like when we visit in the fall Maggie will have a lot accomplished in the town."

We sat and I discussed about what the first phase of the save Mount Hope campaign I made a small list of what we needed Ben to do before I arrived. After everyone left I got online and posted on my blog an article about how I will be working for a town that has a lot of relics of the past. Then I posted that if there are any bridal store interested in vintage dresses and accessories I will be able to start meeting after Friday of next week. If anyone wants to make an appointment to please private message me.

Working for the rest of the day I fielded questions that I could answer and after getting an address from Stan I had set up six appointments and made it clear that these dresses will not be sold on the cheap. The buyers were excited to explore and see what they could find.

The following day went by very quick and before I knew it it was time for me to leave. Cleaning up the spot the night before. The next morning I took a shower and dumped the waste tanks and filled my water tanks. After I put in the sliders I got in and I met with Emma and Stan hugging them. Emma said, "Now I will be seeing you in October. I will miss you. You are going to bring Mount hope back to life like you did for this park."

Lloyd handed me a card and said, "This is the address to my home. Ben has the hook ups ready for when you get there. We have you a place set up next to the main house and the garage that Bens apartment is in. It will protect you from the winter storms and when you get there Ben will winterize the outside of the RV for you. We will see you in a few days."

Honking the horn I pulled out and made my way to Maine. As I drove I utilized truck stops and rest stops at night and doing some touristy things as well. The afternoon I was to get to Mount Hope I decided to stop at the stores and load up my RV so I would not have to shop for a while. Filling the freezer and fridge to the brim I filled the pantry and four larger totes full of non perishable foods. Then I over stocked on toilet paper and cleaning essentials. The last stop I made was a market and filled my electric picnic basket with easy foods to get myself started.

Pulling up to the tunnel I gave my name and the gentleman said, "Oh Miss Maggie! We have been waiting for you. My wife and I cannot wait to see what you can do for our little town. Lloyd said you want to make us a thriving town and tourist area again."

"I am hoping so," I said. "I am sure we can try and we are starting with your historic graveyard."

He nodded and said, "We will see you at the meeting in the morning then. Pull forward to the line and when the light turns green you can go through you have plenty of clearance. Nice meeting you Maggie."

When the light changed I drove through the tunnel and saw people can walk it from one end to the other and there was art and history along the walls. I knew I would have to do that walk which I saw takes about two hours."

Driving through town I saw over growth and brush and sighed. As I passed the graveyard, Store and Sally's Cafe I felt at home. When I pulled up to Lloyds home I smiled seeing Lloyd and when I climbed out of the RV he asked, "Did you have a good trip?"

Taking his hands I said, "I sure did and we have a lot of work to do."

"Well Maggie I hope you can help us," Said a voice behind me.

Turning I said, "You must be Ben."

Putting his hand out he said, "I am. But lets get your RV set up before the rain hits. Then if its not raining we can go compare notes."

Lloyd said, "I have to go meet with the men at Sally's cafe. I will see you both later."

As Llyod pulled away in a golf cart Ben chuckled and said, "They are having a meeting about reminiscing about their time in the military. Come on Maggie lets get you all hooked up and I can give you the grand tour. Drive around the back of the garage and you will see I have bricks of where to stop. This way your protected from the wind."

After I parked and put out the slides Ben helped me connect to the sewage and my water line. When everything was set up he said, "Grab your camera and your notebook I will give you a tour while you take pictures and notes. This is your golf cart to use while your here. At night we park them in the garage for charging, we use the golf carts for everything."

Nodding I said, "Perfect. Well why don't we start at the store I have a few buyers who wanted pictures. Is the power on in there?"

"It is," He said. "You want to get that store started?"

"Llyod told me he will dip into his savings to save the town," I said. "That means fund any repairs or supplies. I am hoping the store can make the money so he does not have to dip into his savings."

We pulled up to the store and I took a bunch of pictures. Going in I could see nothing but flowers dress bags and accessories. We went through the main floor and I saw signs for basement and upper floors. Going to the basement I saw totes upon totes of supplies. We opened some totes and I took pictures of shoes and decor. Going upstairs I found all the rooms had racks upon racks of tuxedos, formal wear and more wedding dresses. Taking a lot of pictures I sighed and said, "Thank God I have buyers lining up for appointments. By Friday I will be booked solid."

"You are doing appointments over the weekend?" He asked.

"Yes and no," I said. "The appointments are until I have everything priced and ready to go. Once that happens then they are paying full price or a discounted price for resale."

Going back through the main floor I said, "This room will be the room I need to clear first."

Ben asked, "Why?"

"Do you see how those windows in the room are shaded?" I said. "I can do displays and hang items in here to start the store. I posted that we will not give away items for pennies on the dollar but will be glad to give a good rate. Then after we get the store organized the fun begins as the storage can be the basement and those top two floors can be put back to being apartments for rent."

We sat talking as I opened some bags of dresses and took more pictures. We were about to go to the graveyard when Lloyd walked in and said, "I am glad I found you. I set up an account with funds for the town revitalization."

Both Ben and I went to argue and Lloyd held up his hand, "I took what you both said into account and I put only $10000 in the account. That should be enough to get started. Now Maggie I know you have receipts for the supplies you got already. When you sell some of this bridal take back what you paid in supplies and add the receipts to the register box. When you and Ben go to get supplies for the town or pay a vendor you can use the account. Here is the card for the account. Between both of you I am sure you will save this town. Maggie sales of all items are to get deposited into the account. Before you make the deposit fill out the form next to the register. Starting amount, total cash sales as we do not take cards or checks. However if the buyer is buying a lot we can do a wire transfer but the merchandise does not leave the store until we verify the transfers and they sign a bill of sale. I am sure you know how to handle that. This is the managers card for the bank she will be able to assist the buyer for the transfers. She knows starting now you may need assistance with the transfers for verification and starting the process."

Ben and I nodded as we said, "Alright."

He looked up and said, "Remember the meeting for the Graveyard is tomorrow at ten in the morning in the Graveyard. Maggie you know how to do the PR and Ben you know what we need. I will get them quiet and you get them ready to go. I will see you both later I am a bit tired and I need a nap."

Ben and I walked outside and Ben handed me a key saying, " A key to your castle Miss. Only you and I have one. To be honest we are the ones with the keys to everything but Sally's Cafe."

"You shouldn't have," I giggled.

Walking to the Graveyard I walked through and took a large amount of pictures. Then Ben and I walked through and made notes. From painting the fence to doing lawn and grave maintenance. After we got everything we needed we headed over to Sally's and grabbed some coffee while we went over the plan. The original article bein released would be about the graveyards and the community wanting to restore it. Then the second article will have pictures of the work being done on the graveyard. The third would be a article with the completed work and telling everyone how they can visit the town and explore all it has to offer.

"Once the graveyard is done we will then start on up and coming changes coming to the town and what's next," I said. "I think we can also hire someone to take care of the Graveyard even if its part time after this. That way it does not go into disrepair. To offset the costs we can do a donation box where people can drop cash or even coins at the gates. You can word it not necessary but greatly appreciated. We can also install some benches for people to sit and the graveyard gates can be closed at night to stop people from trying to go in during the night and possibly vandalize it. All things we can arrange after its done."

Sally sat down and said, "So the graveyard is right near me so I am guessing I will get busy huh?"

"Will that be a bad thing?" I asked.

"Not at all," She said. "I would love to buy a house or lease an apartment eventually and the extra goods would be great. Besides if we get busy the take out window can finally be used."

Yawning I said, "I am so sorry. I love my RV life but the traveling gets me."

Ben laughed and said, "Well lets get you home so you can answer your text and set up the appointments as your phone has been dinging all day."

Laughing I said, "Sounds good. Also just in case are there any active and open motels?"

"No," He said. "Most have to be cleaned out and redone. Nearest hotel is outside the tunnel."

"Good to know," I said. Looking at the building next to the store I asked, "Is that a old boarding house?"

Ben chuckled as we got into the golf cart as he said, "Oh we have a lot of work ahead of us."

When we got back Ben showed me the key box and how to hang the charging cord. I said good night and went into the picnic basket cooler and pulled out a sandwich and salad. Starting to eat I started sending replies to the text messages and emails about people coming into shop. After I set the rules for the sales I made appointments starting at one in the afternoon the next day. Tired from the day of travel I locked up and shut the curtains for the night. Laying in bed I wrote an article about coming to mount home and how much I am enjoying it and look forward to helping with its revitalization.

Falling asleep I woke up in the middle of the night to the storm outside. Opening the curtains to the front of the RV I sat in the chair filming the storm as it rolled by. When the storm passed it was already six in the morning. Making myself breakfast I packed up my laptop, camera and picnic basket into a golf cart and headed into town. Setting an alarm I went into the store to start getting the first part of the store cleared so I could price things. That is when I discovered the walls were moveable walls that converted into displays and racks.

Making room in the main store I went to the basement and brought up boxes of decor, Fabric, lace, accessories, dresses and bridalwear. As I pulled more from the stock room I heard the door open and Ben and Lloyd came in. Lloyd said, "My dear how long have you been up?"

"The storm woke me so I got ready for my day and headed here as I have appointments for 1, 4 and 7 tonight." I said. "Today is going to be very busy. Ben I did swing by the bank and the have a night drop. Could you come by around nine tonight to follow me to the bank?"

He nodded and said, "Sure can. Then I can make sure you get home alright."

"Good," I said. "That way I can give you your one percent and I can take my two percent home tonight and place it in my safe."

My alarm went off and we walked over to the Graveyard. I took some pictures while people came in. Then Lloyd introduced me and said, "Maggie here seems to have a way with words and even after posting how she was visiting the town people want to know why there is no hotels. Would you believe with one vague post Maggie has already started to help us. After this meeting she is going to start converting the first store so we can afford to turn this town around. Maggie could you come up and tell us what your plan is."

Standing up from the chair Ben has had me sit on I introduced myself and told the town the first stages of the plan. How we would be doing volunteer hours for anyone who needs them. Also how if everything goes right this would be opening jobs for everyone in town. I explained how the resale store would be for items found in buildings abandoned and the hope for a positive future. My alarm went off and Ben said, "Now Maggie has to meet with the first bridal buyer soon so what I have here is a list for people to volunteer on. Volunteers will be doing it as a group after work while I work on the big construction and repairs during the day. That being said if you want to volunteer outside the group time notate it on the form. Maggie and I will get back to you within the next few days to arrange everything. Maggie said she will start calling while her buyers are looking through everything. But we hope the first volunteer session will be Saturday Evening."

When he finished talking he said, "I will swing by with the list. Go for your first appointment and I will bring more boxes up after I do my walk and do a full review of what needs to be done. Then we can order everything and I can pick it up tomorrow."

Walking back to the store I saw a woman waiting at the doors. I smiled and said, "Kelsey?"

She gave a big smile and said, "I sure am. Maggie first let me say I love your blog and I am glad you are finding a purpose being in this town its is so beautiful."

"That it is," I said. "So lets go over the rules. Everything except any newly priced items is open for fair pricing. You can buy it in lots or all at once. We will not be nickel and diming. Even though I said cash only the local bank will verify wire transfers till 5:55pm tonight if you go over the amount of cash you brought with you."

"Oh thank heavens you will do lots," She said. "As for wire transfers I do tend to stick with cash and I have a lot to spend. Now I understand you will be pricing things but give a girl a chance to go through everything and I have that SUV there I am wanting to fill."

Opening the doors I said, "Well you can shop anywhere you want and browse. I am going to get working on the counters and register set up the way I want. I am so picky sometimes."

She laughed and I started to work on the front of the store where I wanted to place the counters and displays. She called me over after thirty minutes and said, "Maggie your store will kill me today. Excuse my use of one of your displays. I wish I knew who made these because girl they are amazing. Everything on this display I want. Nothing name brand and there is 60 pieces. I was thinking $200."

"Sounds good," I said taking the cash. "Do you need bags?"

"No," She said. "I always bring my store bags with me. I will run these to my SUV and continue on. Just do me a favor please give me a 15 min heads up. I know I am good till 330 but I want to see some of those wedding dresses."

When she came back in she said, "When is your next open appointment?"

"Friday at noon," I said.

"Please give me the appointment," She said. "Now I am going to start searching through the dresses. I am setting an hour timer."

As she went through dresses I continued with the main sales set up and display. I cleaned all the displays and set ups I used and started putting the sales supplies under the counter. Kelsey came up to me handing me a box and said, "Thankfully for you I am ungodly honest. The box was sealed. I opened it hoping to find a wedding Tierra. The date on the package is 1970 and it was in the bottom of a dress bag. But as for dresses I want these ten already. They are low end brands and mid to high end as well. I was going to offer you ten grand for these ten. I will be able to sell them for much more. These bags are just dresses nothing else."

"Deal," I said. She handed me the money and I added it to the drawer.

She said, "I found this box of jewelry display near the dresses. I am guessing you will need that. The cartier costume runs 300 to 1000 new back then. Those pieces may be worth a fortune. I want first dibs when I finish putting these dresses away."

I took the black display board out and placed a few pieces of jewelry on it. When Kelsey came in she said, "I want a lot of those pieces but I will not screw you either. Lets see if there are duplicates."

We sorted the whole box and I opened my laptop to start checking prices. We saw the price for the butterfly barrettes as new and she bought all of them. When her fifteen minute timer went off she had bought every item we had priced so far. She took her bag of Cartier and left saying she would see me on Saturday.

While I waited for the next buyer I priced the remaining Cartier items. Locking them in the case next to the register. I heard a knock at the door. I opened it and said, "Melody?"

"Yes," She said.

"Please come in," I said. "So lets go over the rules. Everything except any newly priced items is open for fair pricing. You can buy it in lots or all at once. We will not be nickel and diming. Even though I said cash only the local bank will verify wire transfers till 5:55pm tonight if you go over the amount of cash you brought with you."

"I was told things would be sold cheap," She said.

"No you were not," I said. "I am the person who arranged the meeting. I can show you the messages and emails where you were told it would sell for a decent rate but not cheap. If you want to waste my time and yours I have no problem with going back in to price product. I just finished pricing the 1970's Cartier."

Melody said, "Wait. No wasting time I would like to look at the stuff you have."

Nodding I said, "Alright you have until 645pm. I have a new buyer at 7pm."

She came in and looked in the display case. She said, "Well shit you were right that is vintage Cartier. Okay I see this shelf unit may I place what I want on it and we will discuss a price?"

"Your more than welcome to," I said. "I am getting a rack ready and I am grabbing a stack of vintage dresses. You can look through them before I price them and put them out. Its formal wear not wedding items."

Melody started to go through the boxes of decor and accessories. I saw she placed the items on different parts of the racks. When she saw me looking she said, "High end on the back, medium on the side and lower end on the front."

Smiling I said, "Let me know when your ready to cash out and you can start over."

"Wait people can do it in batches?" She said.

"Of course," I said. "It makes it easier to keep track on what you have and what you can still spend."

"Well hell," She said. "Lets price this up then so I can load up and them move to the dresses."

We settled on the price and she paid. She borrowed my hand truck to bring her totes out to her car. When she came back inside she said, "Alright. I would like to take your next available appointment. Then I am going to check out the dresses."

While she was looking Ben came in and asked, "How are things were going?"

I brought the sales screen up on the register and he started coughing as he said, "But there was barely a dent in the product."

Melody laughed and said, "We are trying to dent this but there is so much."

We all laughed and Ben said, "This is my list of volunteers. I arranged them around the sales you have on the list."

"Ben," I said. "I told you I would help you."

He laughed and said, "With what your doing here you are. This is the list of supplies we will need."

"Well why don't you use my laptop and add to the cart," I said. "We can place the order now so you can go get it in the morning."

He sat down as I continued to price items. When Melody's timer went off she said, "Alright lets price these babies."

We settled on the price for all the gowns she had. She paid the cash and Ben helped her carry everything out. She called out to me, "See you tomorrow night."

Laughing I logged the sales in the register. I took my supply receipt and cashed that out.  When Ben came in  asked, "If I order more supplies can you pick them up for me?"

"Sure," He said. "Walmart?"

"No," I said. "Costco."

"That won't be a problem," He said. "Its insane how much the wedding stuff sold for."

"I know," I said. My phone rang and I saw it was my next buyer. "Evening Carol are you alright?"

"Maggie sweetheart I am going to have to cancel tonight," She said.

"Carol you never flake is everything alright?" I asked.

"My sitter was in a car accident," She said.

"Oh no is she alright," I asked.

"Thankfully yes," She said. "My husband is off tomorrow do you have anything open I live about an hour away."

"I have appointments at 12 3 5 7 how early can you be here," I asked.

"I can be here by 8am at the latest," She said. "Are you sure?"

"I sure am," I said. "After we hang up I will pull more and get ready to head home. Call me if anything changes."

She said, "Maggie I love you. See you in the morning."

Ben looked at me and asked, "Everything alright?"

"Yeah Carol is a woman I have known for years," I said. "Her sitter was in a car accident so I am gonna come here early and let her shop. She is a whale in the shopping world which means she will have a cargo van to fill. I need to get more boxes from the basement."

"Finish your order and do the banking," He said. "How much do you want from the basement?"

"I need 10 boxes or totes from the basement and maybe three to four formal racks from upstairs," I said.

"I got it," He said. "My order is ready to purchase if you want to fill in the banking stuff."

I finished his order and printed out two order confirmations. Finishing mine I printed out two receipts. Grabbing the banking register I filled out the original deposit by Llyod and the two online purchases. Counting the register I filled out the form. and printed the sales put in and supplies taken out. Then I inputted the cash withdraw of 1 and 2 percent off the total profit amount. Adding those amounts to the form I counted out the deposit for the evening and putting it in a deposit bag with the amount. Ben brought the last rack down and he said, "How did we do?"

I said, "Closing the register now and you will see the final receipt."

As the register closed and the final receipt printed I added it to the envelope and put the deposit amounts in the ledger. Showing Ben the ledger I said, "Even after all the supplies we ordered and our cash outs that is what is in the account."

He looked around the store and said, "We can actually do this can't we?"

"Yes we can," I said. Picking up my laptop, purse and picnic basket.

Ben took the keys and said, "We can get my cart after the bank."

We went to the bank and dropped the deposit. After we deposited the money we grabbed the second cart and headed home. When we there we plugged in the carts and I said to Ben, "Here are the forms for the orders. I put your name as the person picking up the store supply order. Unless Carol cancels on me I will be heading to the store between 630 and 7 am."

Going into the RV I placed my profit in the safe. After I cleaned out my electronic picnic basket I filled it with more items and I plugged it in so it was ready when I was ready for the night. Heating up a pasta meal I had in the fridge I sat at the table working on the new blog post introducing Mount Hope and the start to revitalizing the historic cemetery. When I couldn't type anymore I locked up and went to bed.

********************************************************************

When I woke up the next morning I checked my phone and saw a message from Carol saying she will see me around seven. Rolling over I said, "Carol your so lucky your a good friend."

Getting my picnic basket and bag I headed to the store. Going in I starting my day. Ben walked in a few minutes later and handed me a coffee and some cream and sugar. He said, "I didn't know how you liked it so I guessed."

"Your a saint," I said. "I was going to get some once Carol got here."

As I said that there was a knock at the door. Standing there was Carol. When I opened it she pulled me into a hug. She said, "Oh how I have missed you. I am sorry I didn't visit but I would have killed Andrew."

"It's alright I will be here a while and we can meet up like we used to," I said. "Carol this is Ben he is my cohort in the town revitalization."

"Nice to meet you Ben," She said. Digging into her bag she handed me a box. "I know tomorrow will be difficult for you. Do not open it till you absolutely need it."

Ben gave Carol a look and I said, "Thank you Carol. Oh are you still doing flower arrangements I saw a bunch of flowers in the basement I can get them for you. A lot if them are vintage. Start looking as well."

I will later learn when I headed to the basement Carol pulled Ben aside, "Listen I know you just met her but tomorrow will be rough on her as it was the day she lost her baby. Don't ask for specifics but one day that ex of her and the who he is with will get their due. Watch her for me tomorrow I have an event or I would be here volunteering. If you go to her blog there is a post about what happened."

He nodded and said, "I knew I looked over her blog when Larry told me he was begging her to come here. I have something planned for her. Don't worry I will make sure she is okay. This town already loves her and we protect our own."

"Good," She said. "Now knowing Maggie she is either crying or trying to bring me those flowers. Go help her before I do have to come help handle the sales. She is a witch when she can't do what she needs to do. Also here is my card if she ever needs me you call me right away and I will make my husband take the baby so I can help her."

Looking up as I tried getting the boxes up the stairs Ben said, "Carol knows you well she said you were trying to get these boxes up in one go. She ran out to her Cargo Van and was bringing totes in."

Ben helped me bring all the vintage flowers up and Carol started sorting them into three totes. When she had filled all the toes she said, "Three grand sound good?"

Nodding I said, "Sure thing while I put this in the register do you want to check out the rack right there they are 1950's formal wear that I am going to price."

She went over the the rack and pulled a pile of dresses and said, "The rest is yours. I would suggest pricing the rest at sixty five a piece for what I left that would be a good price. I will be going through more of the formal racks now but for vintage I would say sixty five."

Ban came over and asked. "She knows her stuff?"

Laughing I said, "Carol is the best in the industry. The event she is going to tomorrow is the Washington DC Bridal fair. She holds the top seat four years running."

When she went through the formal wear racks and told me what I should price each rack she said, "How about five grand for all of these that I took. They are more mid higher tier."

Placing out my hand she counted the cash and placed the it in it. Ben asked, "would like him to place everything in her cargo van before I go to meet the volunteers."

She tossed him the keys and started going through the back wall of wedding gowns. When he loaded the totes he brought back the keys and asked me, "Will you have a chance to come take pictures before your next client?"

Carol laughed and said, "She sure can she knows she can trust me."

An hour later I said, "Alright Carol lets cash these out and you can load them while I go get those pictures."

She said, "I like Ben I could see you traveling or staying here. That is all I am going to say. I am offering you thirty grand for the dresses I have so far. I can make a good profit with that price. Those are the thirty two laying on the floor stacked. You said you have a wire transfer option right?"

I nodded and she started the wire transfer and when I called the bank and confirmed the transfer she started loading them as I walked to the graveyard. Getting to the Graveyard I took pictures of everyone working and Ben came up and said, "How is it going?"

I said, "We have enough funds to remodel the entire top floor of the this building and a few more after I sale of wedding dresses from her. She is loading what she bought now and still has close to two hours to go. After todays sales I think we will be on a good track for the items upstairs to start coming down from the upper floors and up from the basement she brought 32 dresses for thirty grand via a confirmed wire transfer."

"Shit," He said. "Alright after the session today I will come by and bring some of the men's suits and more of the dress racks down."

"Take your time," I said. "I don't know these newer buyers and I am not sure how well they will play out."

Going back in Carol was sitting on a crate while going through a bunch of wedding shoes. She smiled and said, "I wish I wasn't going to the show tomorrow because I could spend so much time in here. Do you have men's suits and tuxes?"

"Let's cash out what you have and oh do we," I said.

She paid cash for all her shoes and took them to her van. When she came back in I said, "You have a little over an hour and lets go upstairs."

I took her to the second floor where all the men's ware I knew of was and she said, "If you don't hear from me in an hour send a search party."

Chuckling I went downstairs and continued to price the dresses Carol went through placing them on the cleared racks. Moving boxes and crates around I made a small wall blocking the racks with the exception of a small walkway. Finding more shoes I went up and asked Carol what the price should be and she said $40 as those are vintage. She had a pile of suites and said, "Five grand for the suits?"

Putting my hand out she put them in a few empty boxes and started bringing them to her car. When she came back in her fifteen minute timer went off and she started to look through the accessories boxes placing what she wanted on the counter. As her final timer went off she paid and handed me the cash. She said, "If you need me call and I will be glad to help."

Hugging her I said, "I missed you."

"Same here," She said. "Once you are more settled we will meet up for dinner."

She left and I ate a quick lunch before my noon appointment arrived. Ben came in and said, "Wow Carol did make a dent on the back wall."

Laughing I said, "Yes and on the wall upstairs with the men's suits as well. I think i am going to bring down some suits and more wedding dresses from upstairs after I eat. Then more boxes from upstairs. Carol gave me some good pricing techniques so once more come down I am going to start using them on the flowers she did not buy and some of the accessories."

"Eat I will bring them down," He said. "Then when I am done I am going to head home to eat. The next round of volunteers meet up at three. Also earlier when you were with Carol upstairs I brought all your supplies in and placed them behind the counter. I did not want to put them in the wrong spot. Also could we use a washer and dryer in the store. The Davidsons have a set as they just upgraded."

"Sure offer them a good price and I did see a hook up in the basement," I said. "We will need them when we start going through old homes and apartments of we can salvage anything. It is also a plus we have a sink down there as well. Once we finish bringing all the stock up from the basement we will need to give it a good clean and I am saving the large crates as shelving and the more sturdy boxes for storage."

"Well how about this," He said. "I will load the back wall with dresses and suits. Then I will bring up more crates and boxes and make room around the hook up for the washer and dryer. The Davidsons were going to donate them and I was going to get them but they have a new baby I will offer them one fifty. Can you cash that out for me from the register?"

"Sure can," I said going to the register. Notating it in the register log and register.

I handed Ben the cash and he said, "I have to bring it on from up here so let me get the stock for you and then I will meet the Davidsons. Maggie I know your gung ho and everything but you need to set realistic business hours. So after next week please do not make any appointments after five."

"I thought about that Ben and after Friday last appointment is for five," I said. "Starting this weekend they are mine as well. Unless we are working with volunteers. However I made a deal with Carol on Saturday morning she is coming and filling a small U-haul of whatever I have not priced or sold. I may have to cancel the following weeks appointments if the buyers buy me out."

There was a knock at the door and I answered, "Don?"

He gave me a smile and said, "You know it girl! First let me say I have followed your blog for ages and love you. I also am a huge fan of your books so I may need a autograph or six as my partner will kill me if I do not bring him home a autographed copy."

"Well done we can not have your life in danger," I said. "So what are you looking for specifically."

"Men's suit and tuxes," He said. "I am a wedding planner the LGBTQ community and we do a lot of men's wear."

"Hold on," I said. Yelling up the stairs, "Ben leave the men's suits there."

He popped his head out of he basement door and said, "Alright I was making room for the washer and dryer. Should we leave everything where it is today?"

"Yes," I said. "I am taking Don upstairs to get him started."

Motioning for Don to follow me. When we got upstairs he said, "Maggie your gonna make me cry. I may not have brought enough cash."

"No worries for large orders we can do a wire transfer," I said. "The owners rule is no merch leaves the store until we confirm the transfer."

"I am so glad I bought the company van today," He said. "I have until 245 right?"

"Yes and if you want to do this in batches we can as well," I said. "I will be downstairs working on merch I am pricing for the store launch."

He turned to the suits and said, "Oh babies I am going to adopt you all."

Going downstairs I chuckled. Putting all of my supplies away I started to work on bouquets of the vintage flowers. Wrapping them to keep the dust off of them, I priced them and added them into a stack of crates I made into a display. Fort five minutes later Don popped his head around the corner and said, "Maggie I have my first batch ready. Do you have the bank information?"

Grabbing the information I went back upstairs and he said, "This is a gold mine. I found colored suits and tux's. They have not made these colors since the 1960's. These piles here are forty suits and I want to offer you forty five thousand for them."

I handed him the bank information and said, "Deal." I found some empty boxes and started laying the suits in for him. The bank manager called me and said the transfer was completed.

I handed Don the bill of sale and he signed. Helping him carry the suits downstairs he said, "Besides weddings I do events so once your store is really up and running I will be coming back a lot to see what you have. I am happy your helping this town and you never know I may have to rent or lease an apartment for a weekend retreat for me and Bill once some become available. The town gives a old town and peaceful vibe. That graveyard though is something we love history and can't wait to see it restored."

Stopping at the register I added the sale to it and placed the receipt in the drawer. When he came inside he asked, "What is in the basement?"

"From what we saw so far decor and accessories," I said. "We have slowly been moving things upstairs but if you want to look your more than welcome to."

"Nah," He said. "I have seen one to many scary movies. I think I am gonna check out your second floor vintage clothing if you don't mind. Then I will end my search down here."

"Of course," I said. "I will be down here pricing things while you search."

For the rest of his time Don came down with stacks of dresses and we would settle on a cash price and he would load them in his van. When he came to the bottom floor to shop for his remaining time we talked about the plans for the town, my blog and books. When he did his last sale I reminded him to get his books and signed each of them. He gave me a hug and said, "Thank you Maggie. Keep my phone number and I will be seeing you soon enough."

When he left Ben came back with the washer and dryer saying, "I am going to get these downstairs and bring more up. I do not want to hook them up until we make sure the water line and dryer vent are cleaned and good to go. We do not need a flood or fire in the store."

When my three o'clock appointment arrived she said, "Hello Maggie I am Marlene, I do not want to waste my or your time. Did you happen to see vintage lace, material and decor."

Smiling I asked, "Do you have aversions to basements?"

"Not at all," She said.

I led her downstairs and said, "I think this is where the previous owner did a majority of the alterations. This whole wall and these crates in the middle are full."

She pulled out the first roll of material and said, "Oh my business partner will be so happy. We have people wanting custom gowns and this is hard to come by. I will be honest with you to get this its normally three thousand a roll. I will offer you two thousand a roll if you can do a check or a wire transfer."

"We do accept wire transfers," I said. "Per the owner nothing leaves the building until the transfer clears and we confirm it."

Nodding she said, "Smart. Okay do you have a few boxes and can you help me bring it upstairs once we agree on a price and start the transfers. My van broke down and my husband has the SUV. I need to see what we can fit in my car."

"If you would like we can do it in batches," I said. "Let me call my bank contact to let her know we will be doing a few transfers and we can stack everything and you can browse the vintage dresses while you wait."

"Thank you," She said. I grabbed a few boxes and she pulled the first ten rolls of material from the box. She kept complimenting the material and when she chose twenty rolls we carried them upstairs along with a box of assorted ribbon. I created a bill of sale and we agreed on a price for the ribbon. Handing her the wire transfer information she processed the transfer and said, "While I wait I will see what you have up here. I have cash for up here."

Fifteen minutes later the bank called and the manager said, "I am in the wrong line of work. The transfer has completed and your good to go."

I told Marlene the transfer went through having her sign the bill of sale and she paid cash for a dozen pairs of vintage shoes. After we loaded everything in her trunk and back seat of the car she came in and shopped the wedding decor upstairs. When her timer went off she paid for the decor she selected and said, "Thank you Maggie. You are amazing I will be watching your blog."

Looking at my phone I realized my five o'clock was late. I was about to call her when she showed up at the door with a teenager who looked angry. I opened it and she said, "Maggie I am so sorry I am late. My dear son got into trouble at school and was angry when I said he had to come with me. I am Sue."

"Hi Sue," I said. "You do have until seven. Are you looking for anything in particular?"

"No," She said. "I will browse and see if there is anything here I can buy. My husband Bill has an appointment on Friday morning with you."

Looking at her I said, "Browse and enjoy."

Her son looked around and said, "It looks like its a crap show here."

"Nathaniel!" She said. "That's enough."

I said, "Your right. So why did you get in trouble?"

"Mom and Dad were talking last night about moving to this town if it came back to life," He said. "Dad was born here."

Smiling I said, "You don't want to move here."

"Nah," he said. "I am happy where we live I can go fishing whenever I want."

"Marlene have fun browsing we will be back in a few," I said. "Come on kid."

"Where are we going?" He asked.

"Your really mad about fishing?" I asked as we got in the golf cart.

"Yes," He said. "Why?"

Driving down the road I took him to the pier and showed him the water. I asked, "Would this be bad to fish in? Listen I get it I moved a lot as a kid and I gave up a lot but can you see yourself fishing here?"

"I was a ass," He said.

"No your a kid who wants to do something he enjoys," I said. "Why don't you go talk to some of the fisherman while I go check on your mom."

"Really?" He asked.

"Hey Lloyd," I called out. Walking over to Llyod and a few of the other men.

He looked up and said, "Maggie who do we have here?"

"This is Nathaniel and he loves fishing," I said. "His Mama is one of our buyers. Can he hang with you and maybe fish while she shops?"

Lloyd smiled and said, "I happen to have extra bait and a rod. Come on son lets get you casted."

Leaving Nathaniel with Llyod I went back to the shop. Walking in Marlene asked, "Where is Nathaniel?"

"With the owner of the town fishing," I said. "Did he tell you why he got in trouble?"

"No," She sighed. "Its been going on since we made the appointment for here."

"He was upset because he over heard you and bill talking about possibly moving here when the town comes back to life," I said. "I asked him if it would be bad and he said yes because he couldn't fish."

She groaned and said, "We thought about coming back here if the town builds up. I did not think he heard us talking. But you took him fishing?"

"Well I was going to talk to him but when he said fishing I figured I would show him he would no be giving that up," I said. "I wish I had a camera for the look on his face when the bay come into view. You can pick him up when your done."

"Thank you," She said. "Well while you were gone I found this pile of decorations. Will you take two hundred?"

"Sure," I said taking the money she loaded the decorations and went to look at the dresses. She shopped till her timer went off and she purchased a pile of wedding dresses.

As she loaded them we heard, "Mom look what I caught."

Ben and him were parking behind her. "I won't bring it home but I had to show you."

Laughing Ben said, "You got quite a fisherman here. This is a Atlantic Haddock. He gave Nathaniel here a fight but he got it in all by himself."

She asked, "Is there a way to buy ice here? We have a cooler in the trunk you can brig it home to show your dad."

"Do you think I can come here with Dad Friday since I am off school?" He asked. "I know Dad does not have an appointment till noon but I can fish while he shops."

"We can talk to Dad when we get home and I think we need to have a family meeting," She said.

Ben said, "There is a gas station on the other side of the tunnel. The fish will hold in the cooler till you get through."

He placed the fish in the cooler and we said our goodbyes. We went back inside and he said, "He told us why he got in trouble the men talked to him and behaving and then he caught that fish."

"I think he will be fine," I said. "One more sale and then its bedtime tomorrow I have three buyers at 9 1 and 4."

Ben said, "I will be back around nine then. Do we need to bring more up?"

"We can do that in the morning," I said. "Unless you want to come early."

He said, "I will see you around eight thirty and I will move more to the main floor."

"Alright," I said. "See you then."

As he left the last buyer of the day came to the door and said, "Hello Maggie I am Sheila."

"Hello Sheila," Are you looking for anything in particular?"

"No I am not thankfully," She said. "I am gonna start with the wedding dresses and go from there. Cash only right?"

"Yes," I said. "It is to late for wire transfers."

She walked in and saw the Cartier in the display case. She asked, "Are those pieces up for negotiation."

"No once they are priced they are sold as priced," I said.

"Okay," She said. "I have cash to spend but I am picky to be honest for my boutique."

"That is fine," I said. "I am going to price these three racks while you shop so if you want to look at them first your welcome to."

"Do you hold the items or can I shop as I go?" She asked.

"Most have been shopping as they go," I said. "Makes it easier with space in your car or money."

She looked through the racks and found quite a few pieces. After we settled on a price she took them into her car and started looking at the dresses. She brought a few piles and when she finished with her shopping time she thanked me and left. Looking at the clock I realized Ben was not here. I did the closing duties and got our envelopes and deposit bag ready. I called his number and it went to voicemail.

Calling Lloyd he answered and said, "Maggie is everything alright?"

"I'm not sure," I said. "Ben was supposed to be here at eight thirty but I have not seen him since he left after dropping Nathaniel off. Is he home?"

He said, "Let me check are you going to the bank?"

"Yes," I said. "We did a lot of wired transfers today so its minimal cash after our take. I am more worried about him. If he is not home call me I will drive around and look for him."

Hanging up I locked up and went to the bank and my phone rang. Llyod said, "I found him. The town Doctor is on his way now."

"What happened?" I asked.

"Ben has a lung issue and he passed out," He said. "The doctor is here I will see you when you get home."

Heading home I saw the Doctor coming from Lloyds house. Going in Lloyd caught me and said, "He is sleeping my maid is sitting with him. Let's go to your RV and talk."

Going into the RV I asked, "What kind of lung issue?"

"The reason I raised Ben was because his parents died in a house fire," He said. "His room was in the basement and he was saved due to the foundation of the house. The fire department found his window and were able to get the door to the basement open and save him. However he had to be resuscitated due to all the smoke. He has had issues ever since growing up. The smoke damaged his lungs but he survived. I have had him to many doctors they said if it gets worse he may have to have the scar tissue removed. It would be safe to say he will be out of commission tomorrow."

"Alright," I said. "If you or he need anything call me."

I started making dinner and it was Carol. Picking up I said, "Are you cancelling on me on Saturday?"

"No not at all," She said. "I had a question though. Will we be able to do wire transfers on Saturday?"

"I am not sure I see hours for Saturday and am not sure," I said. "Let me call the bank in the morning and I will call you tomorrow."

***************************************************************

The following morning I called the bank manager and asked her if she could do wire transfers on Saturday as a special exception. She asked, "Are you expecting a lot of sales?"

"Yes," I said. "From a whale. Have you ever heard of Innocent and Naughty weddings?"

"I sure have," She said. "My sister used their services for her wedding."

"The owner Carol is a longtime friend," I said. "Her and her assistant will be coming first thing on Saturday and buying a lot of stock in the store. She is bringing a twenty foot U-Haul to fill. I am expecting a few hundred thousand in transfers."

"Wow that is insane Maggie," She said. "I will arrange it all for you for Saturday. How late do you need me here? Should I expect any other weekends?"

"No," I said. "I have a few big buyers coming in the next two days and she may be buying me out as of Saturday. To be honest I do not know how late she will be here."

"Alright then I will plan on catching up on all of my paperwork on Saturday and get everything we been putting off done that day so I will be in the bank," She said.

"Thank you May I am sure I will speak with you later," I said.

Calling Carol I looked at the clock and when she picked up I said, "Hey Carol I have a buyer showing any minute. Bring a lot of cash for the cheaper sales but we can do wire transfers for the big items."

"Oh good," She said. "My assistant and I plan on buying you out if we can while you price some of the items. Do not expect much or anything left when we are done. Except for what you price."

"Well I will be thankful," I said. "I cannot wait to get the store fully set up and start the boarding house next door."

"You have not changed Maggie," She said. "Take it easy today. But I would think about the hotel first. That way people besides workers have a place to stay. That way I can come stay there and visit for the weekend."

"Alright I will hold you to it," I said. Hanging up I got ready for the buyer to arrive. Thankful to Carol if she can buy the remaining items out this Saturday. I want to get on a better schedule once the store is up do I can work on the blog more and start back to writing.

There was a knock at the door and when I answered I asked, "Julia?"

"I am Sarah her partner," She said. "Julia sent me as she fell last night and broke her ankle."

"Oh no," I said. "Well come in and let me go over some things with you."

"Thank you," She said.

"So we will accept wire transfers on larger sales," I said. "Please be aware the merch can not leave the store until it clears and the bill of sale is signed. Also feel free to do it in batches you have until 12:45 to shop all three floors and the basement. You will be finding now there is a large amount of spots open due to previous buyers. I will be pricing and getting the store ready so we can start turning the upper floors back into apartments. Also in the basement and the floors the only things not for sale are crates, shelves and the washer and dryer. Also the items priced here on the floor with the colored tags are priced as marked."

"Sounds good," She said. "So I will start upstairs and work my way down to the basement. Where will I be able to find you?"

"I am going to be pulling a box at a time from the basement," I said. "A lot of decor and accessories."

"No worries I will check in soon," She said. "So me a favor though if i do not come down check on me in thirty minutes I get so involved and I am limited on space in my SUV."

"I will set a thirty minute timer now," I said.

Going downstairs I grabbed a new box of flowers and brought them up to start pricing. The door to the store opened and Ben walked in. I said, "Why are you not at home resting?"

"Because we have work to do," He said. "I had volunteers meeting me at nine to work in the graveyard. Do not worry Lloyd already gave me the once over and I will take it easy. He told me that I have you to thank as I passed out in the garage."

"I am just happy your okay," I said. "When you didn't show I got worried. Speaking of this is yours from yesterday."

He looked inside and said, "Damn. I will eventually have enough for a boat the way things are selling."

"Well if you get a boat I request to be a passenger," I said. "I miss going on the water."

"You will be my first passenger," He said. "Also do you have plans after work?"

"No," I said. "Why?"

"We need to go somewhere," He said. "It is a surprise."

"Alright," I said. "I can't wait."

"Good if you get a few minutes we have more volunteers this morning if you want to take pictures for the blog," He said.

"Alright," I said. "After my buyers first timer goes off I will come over."

Julia's timer was about to go off when she came down and said, "Can you come up and we can work on a price?"

Following her up I saw she had piles of dressed and suits. She said, "I would like to offer you twenty thousand for these. They are lower end brands and most are from the eighties they do not sell well in the market but I am hoping I can jazz them up."

"Deal," I said. "Did you need to do a wire transfer or will this be cash?"

"For this one a wire transfer," She said following me downstairs. "You have the information I can send it and look around down here while we wait. After it goes through I will load what I have so far."

"Okay," I said. "After everything clears I will let you shop and start another timer for you. I will be going to the graveyard to take some pictures and come right back."

"Sounds good," She said. "Alright I did the transfer. Now we wait."

Looking at the case she said, "Vintage Cartier? Man those are a treasure I may buy a few before I leave. Priced as marked right."

"Yes we found those the first day tucked behind the wedding dresses," I said.

My phone rang and it was May she said, "Hey your good to go and I arranged for Saturday so Carol can shop and buy you out."

"Thank you May," I said. "Speak with you soon I am sure."

"Julia your good to go," I said. "I am opening the door so you can load the first batch. I will be back in a few minutes."

Walking over to the graveyard I started to take pictures and greeting the volunteers. Seeing Ben sitting in his golf cart I snapped a picture and realized how handsome he looked. Slapping myself mentally I thought, do not make this complicated.

He looked up and said, "Hey you made it."

"I did and I am glad your sitting I was thinking I was going to have to tie you to a chair," I said.

He laughed and said, "I would not put that past you. Did you get all the pictures you need?"

"I sure did," I said. "I am getting back to the store I should be done between six and seven tonight."

"Great," He said. "I will pop in and move boxes for you later."

"We are fine without you moving boxes," I said. "Rest or else."

Heading back to the store I met Julia downstairs and she had a few boxes of shoes and accessories. Settling a price I rang it in and she said, "I am going to brave he basement."

Laughing I said, "Good luck."

Picking up a crate of shoes I started pricing them until Julia cane up with bolts of the cloth. She asked, "Have vendors been buying this?"

"Yes," I said. "They bought for $2000 a roll. Which was a good price as I looked and saw what you shops pay."

She smiled and said, "I am bringing up all I can find and I see there is a bit. I will do the $2000 a roll."

When she brought up all the cloth she said, "Let me check out some of those wedding dresses."

She continued to shop the wedding dresses and when she was ready with a pile of  cloth, dresses and shoes we completed a bill of sale. While we waited for the wire transfer to be completed she said, "Depending on what room I have left I may have to search some of these boxes in here. I wish I had the work van but we had to get the transmission replaced."

May called and said, "Your good to go."

Hanging up I said, "Well if you sign here you can load and see what type of room you have left."

She came back and said, "Well I guess you get a bit of a sales break Maggie my SUV is stuffed. Thank you again."

I waved and locked the door behind her. Realizing I had some time I made room on the racks and I went upstairs to carry some of the items down hanging them on the empty racks. I realized the top floor was emptying quite quickly and brought down some of the clothing racks that were empty to use downstairs. By the time my alarm for the one o'clock buyer went off the whole top floor apartment was condensed down to the main living room and bedroom.

When the buyer showed up and knocked at the door I opened it and he came in with a older boy. I said, "John?"

"Hey Maggie its great to meet you," He said. "I was gonna cancel but my Grandson offered to be my muscle today. I will be sticking to what you have down here."

"May I ask what happened," I asked.

"I took my husky for a walk and he saw a rabbit," He said. "I fell and broke my leg two days ago."

"Oh no," I said. "Well feel free to go through everything down here. You can buy in lots and if the price is more than the cash you have we can do a wire transfer."

He chuckled and said, "Well I have plenty of cash but I see some things I know are going to tick the amount up. Are the items priced opened for negotiation?"

"No everything behind this crate wall is marked as is," I said. "Please feel free to sit on the crates as you browse."

"Come on Benji lets see what we can do for Grams store," He said. Turning to me he said, "I brought our cargo van so we should be able to fill it. Oh Benji go grab those totes for me please there are ten of them."

"Sure thing Grandpa," He said running to the Cargo Van parked outside the store.

He opened the first box and said, "Oh Maggie your gonna kill the wallet today. Once he gets back we will see what I am going to get."

Benji came in with the totes and lids and he said, "Okay boy do you have the notebook and paper. We are gonna be organized here. Label the first page tote 1."

They worked together and added all the items to the tote as he notated what was in there. When he finished the first totes he cashed out and Benji brought the tote to the van. He moved to the first rack of suits and when he finished filling the second tote he said, "Maggie I want to save the cash I am going to fill three totes full and cash out. Items stay here til the transfer is completed right?"

"That is correct," I said. He wrote down more and continued to hand items to his helper. When he was done sorting the three totes we settled on a price and started the transfer. When It was complete he went back to looking through the boxes and made a new list.

"I have to ask what is in the list," I said.

"Oh its to keep track of what we have but also pricing," He said. "Low medium and high tier items. Then I had to the boss lady when I get home and she knows what to look for in the totes."

"That is very organized." I said.

John hobbled over to the dresses and I said, "John sit on the crates make it easier and have Benji bring you the dress bags. "I hate to see you in pain."

He said, "That is a good idea. Benji Grab me the first ten Dresses and lets see what we can find."

When he finished going through the main wall of dresses he had had picked a lot out and said, "Alright Maggie this is what we have and what I am offering you."

"That seems fair," I said. "Let's get the wire transfer started."

When the wire transfer completed Benji carried all the dresses to the van and came back saying, "Grandpa there is very little room left after you got the dresses. We can fit one full tote and the remaining that are empty without squishing the dress bags."

HE sighed and said, "To be honest Benji I am exhausted. I think we have cleared out enough for Maggie."

"I hope you feel better soon John," I said.

"Is there a place around here to eat?" He asked.

"Sure is," I said. "Sally's Cafe right across the road."

"Thank you," He said. "Benji let's go get the totes in the van and grab some lunch. Then we can bring this all to Grams and let her tell us what she thinks.

Smiling I let them out and locked the door. Heading upstairs I brought down wedding dresses and started to fill the back wall again. When I filled the back wall I went outside and looked around. Ben came up and said, "the buyer left early?"

"Yes they filled their van and went to sally's to eat," I said. "Do you have a key to the boarding house?"

"I do," He said. "Want to explore?"

"Yes I do," I said. "I think the boarding house should be one of the first things to go in besides the store. That way if we have to hire workers it can be a small hotel instead of a boarding house."

He nodded and said, "That may be smart. How are sales going today?"

Chuckling I said, "Well if we keep to a budget. We have enough for the upstairs apartments to be remodeled and the boarding house. This will include refurnishing the rooms with beds, dressers and basics. Unless we can salvage some of the furniture in there. If we can than that would be even better."

Ben opened the door and we walked in seeing the main desk. The desk had a door behind it and we found a small living quarters for the manager. Looking in the first row of rooms we saw some items left behind and furniture that would have to be thrown out and some that could be salvaged. In some rooms we saw piles of items and some a suitcase and some clothes. Ben said, "I think it would be smarter to rip out the carpet and lay flooring. The rooms look like they need a good cleaning and small repairs we may be lucky."

We continued to explore and found that there was a room with a lot of furniture. Looking at Ben I said, "This is a jackpot. But hold on I need to look in the drawers."

Shifting a dresser I said, "Oh my these drawers are loaded. Well we will see what we can salvage after we get the store and its apartments done."

He smiled and said, "Well we have plenty of time. But are you done for the day?"

"I was going to bring more stock up from the basement," I said. "What do you have in mind?"

Ben gave a smile and said, "We are going out. I will pick you up in an hour or so."

I sighed and said, "Ben. I am not so sure."

"We are going out as friends nothing more," He said.

Relenting I said, "Okay I will see you in an hour."

Going inside I went to the top floor apartment and started bringing boxes and items down. When Ben arrived back to get me I had cleared more than half the apartment. He had a picnic basket and said, "Come on Maggie time to get out of here, drop the deposit and head out."

Grabbing the paperwork I completed, I handed Ben his percentage and placed mine in my bag. Grabbing the deposit I went out to join Ben and he said, "Larry dropped me off so we could use your cart. I will drive."
