Looking at the Amusement Park gate, I sighed, "Uncle Larry, what did you leave me?"

I heard my name called and turned to the voice, "Ellie, thank you for coming to meet me today."

Walking towards me was Mr. Reynolds, my Uncle's attorney, "Well, Mr. Reynolds, how could I say no."

"Easily, dear," He said. "But your Uncle would be happy you came. When we were putting his affairs in order, he said, no one could do this but you. We are heading to your office this morning. We will go over a few things after we settle in. Do not fear Ellie. You will have plenty of help along the way. The staff here are family, and we take care and protect each other."

"You work here as well?" I asked, genuinely surprised.

"I sure do," He said. "Besides being the Parks Lawyer, I also help out with the office. My wife Gladys is the costume coordinator."

He took me into the main building and led me to the office. When we got to the door, I saw my name was already on the door. We went in, and he said, "Please sit down. I have a video from your Uncle he wanted you to watch."

I sat down, and Mr. Reynolds sat across from me at the table and hit play on the laptop. The video started with My Uncle Larry's face on screen. He began to speak, "Ellie, my sweet niece, I am so sorry I could not talk to you about this before I passed away. I left you this amusement park as you are the only one who can protect it. You see, the staff of this park are special with their special abilities and talents that would make them victims in the outside world. Even our dear friend, Mr. Reynolds, needs protecting. You were the only member of the family that could do this in my mind. Do you remember all the stories I told you when you were a girl? What if I told you they were all true and all the magical and mythical creatures existed? With your training, you are the only person who can protect them. Linus, Pause the video and give Ellie a moment to take this in."

Lifting my had to feel the book charm on my necklace. I turned to Mr. Reynolds and asked, "What are you?"

He smiled and said, "Are you ready to know everything, Ellie? If you know, you take on the responsibility of protecting the park."

Just then, a little girl ran into the office and jumped into Mr. Reynolds's lap with a woman chasing her, "Cami, dear, get back here. Daddy is working."

"Daddy, guess what," She said. "I can make my tail pop out."

She stood up, closing her eyes, and a beautiful brown tail popped out of her skirt. She hopped around, then noticed me and became frightened. I looked at her and said, "It's okay, Cami, you don't have to be scared of me. But you should always be careful and look to make sure there are no strangers around when you do that."

"Okay," She said. "I will be more careful."

"You're a descendant of the nine-tail fox pack," I said. "I get why my Uncle said you needed to be protected."

"Well, Ellie? Does that mean you're going to protect us?" He asked.

"Well, I can't let you all get hunted? Can I," I said. "Besides, I do not have anything to go home to."

"Let's watch the rest of the video," He suggested. "Then we can talk more."

He pressed play, and I watched the rest of the video from my uncle. He explained the history of the creatures in the park and how I have an apartment here to live in. He mentioned everything I would need is in the office and the apartment. When the video ended, I said, "Well, I guess I am home. I will have to get all my belongings from where I am staying. But what did he mean I will have what I need here and at my apartment?"

He smiled and said, "How about we walk over to the apartment first, and I will get the cleaning staff in there. The apartment has been closed since your uncle passed, and I am sure it needs a good cleaning."

I followed him to the apartment housing and asked, "So, two underground floors?"

Looking at me, he said, "Yes, I am sure you can guess who loves in the underground. Your apartment has four floors, two above ground and two below ground. That way, you can interact with all the creatures in the park."

Looking at the building that housed the workers I said, "Its always smaller on the outside."

Mr. Reynolds laughed and said, "Things are not always as they seem."

We walked into the lobby and I naturally turned to what is now my apartment. I placed my hand on the door and said, "I remember the last time I was here. My uncle invited us to the park and told my Dad he needed to talk with him before we left. Dad and I came back to the apartment with him after spending all day going on rides and eating in the park for free. I went to sit in the living room to watch TV and after ten minutes Dad came in and said, "Come on Ellie its time to leave."

Mr. Reynolds nodded and said, "Your uncle wanted to give your Dad a chance here. But after a few questions your uncle realized your dad would try selling us to science. Your Dad dragged you out not because of the questions but because your uncle offered to care for you so your Dad could get help. Your dad took you and never let you come back. When your Dad went to jail he threatened your uncle with the park and that is why he stayed with you at your house and commuted every day."

"Well as you know my Dad was a real winner," I said.

"Was?" He asked.

"Yes," I said. "Was. When he was in jail he decided to start a fight with a well known gang member to assert his dominance. The gang member learned I existed and did nothing until I came of age right before uncle had passed. Then on my nineteenth birthday, I went to visit Dad and he was awful demanding money and telling me to get it from uncle Mart. I sat there and told him that Uncle Mart passed away and the police offered to bring him to the funeral and he said no. Dad cursed me out and requested to go back to his cell. The gang member came over and asked if I was alright. I said It was a mistake to come here my Dad is a asshole and only wanted instead of ever taking care of me. He expressed his condolences and meant it for Uncle Mart. After I left the gang member went to Dad, he told him that he needs to make up with be before it was to late. Dad called me awful names and he got beat for it. The guy who beat him punctured his lung and he died after refusing medical care. I found out later on he had cancer and that was his easy way out. He was a coward you know instead of fighting it he decided jail and death was easier than doing what was right. I was lucky to have had my uncle."

"What happened to the house?" He asked. "If you do not mind me asking. Your uncle kept up on the payments because the house was the last thing that was your Mom's"

"My uncle didn't know that my Dad had taken loans out on the house," I said. "The loans were more than what the house was worth and after my uncle died I received a bunch of notices that there were leans. More than two hundred and fifty thousand worth. After uncle passed I paid the mortgage but when Dad passed right after I had him buried I started getting the lien notices. I never knew you could do those liens while in prison. That was how Dad paid for stuff."

He shook his head and said, "Ellie he had to have someone on the outside doing them for him. I want to look into that for you because the house was not only in his name but yours as well. Your uncle was your guardian until you turned eighteen and then the house should have been half yours. Where have you been living?"

"You remember the gang member?" I asked. "After he got out he came to talk with me. He said he knew who landed the fatal hit on Dad but it was not him. I reminded him of his baby sister he said. Jose is a sweet man and I believe he may be one of you all. He found me crying on the porch the day he came to see me. He looked over everything and said he didn't have money but he could get me a place to stay with his Mama. She has a small room attached to the house. I paid her out of the stipend I got from Uncle Mart and have been going to school full time."

"What were you going to school for?" He asked.

"Accounting," I said. "Also Jose has been protecting me. Dad had a lot of enemies in jail and since I have been staying with him and his Mom I have been protected by him and his gang."

"That seems like a very dangerous lifestyle," He said. "Did you finish your degree?"

"I have one more semester left," I said. "I currently work at a cafe till then. Well I guess I work here now huh?"

"Yes you do," He said. "But you also will finish your schooling as it will help you here. Now as to you believing that the people are staying with are like us I would like to go with you to meet them. If you believe Jose is one of us we can offer him and his Mom a place here or at least his Mom."

"Nodding," I said. "I adore Mama Maria and the thought of anything happening to her scares me. We can go there after we tour everything else and then I will settle in. I will also have to give notice to the cafe as I believe learning the ropes here and school may take up a but of my time."
