Scavnger Hunt (15 book series)1/2

 Sitting at my desk in my home office, I started to check my email. Looking at the title it said, "Opportunity you will not want to refuse."

I was about to delete the email and thought why not get a laugh. Opening the email I said, "What the hell."

My husband walked into the room and asked, "Whats wrong?"

I had him read over my shoulder and I started to read it to him.

Dear Maggie,

If you are reading this, then I guess I need to say, I am so sorry we never got to meet. I know you have a lot of questions, and my lawyer will need to be the one to answer them. But I have loved you since I found out your mother was pregnant and I tried to fight for you, but she would not let me see you. Contact my lawyer and he will have more information for you.

My husband Max said, "Maggs, what is going on?"

Taking a shaky breath, I said, "I don't know, but I am going to find out."

Calling the number at the bottom of the email I heard, "Office of Calum, Brock and Carter, how may I direct your call?"

"My name is Maggie Smith." I said. "I was instructed to call this number."

"Hello Mrs. Smith," The receptionist said. "Let me get Mr. Calum on the line."

I was placed on hold and after a few minutes I heard a voice say, "Hello Maggie this is Mr. Calum and I am so glad you reached out to me."

"Good afternoon Mr. Calum," I said. "May I ask why I was directed to contact you?"

"Because Maggie," He said. "Your Dad was one of my dearest friends and he left you an inheritance if your willing to get to know him."

"He abandoned my mom and me," I said. "How do you get to know the dead?"

He sighed and said, "Maggie, that is not true. Listen I do not want to fight with you I can show you evidence of the truth. Would you and your husband be able to meet me this week?"

I looked at Max, and he nodded. I said, "Yes, where can we meet?"
