๐ŸŽ„The Bloody Mansion (3 book series)

When I was growing up in Highlands there was a Mansion known as the bloody mansion. To get to this home you had to go past Twin Light Towers and follow the small trail from the back of the parking lot lined by the woods. After thirty minutes of navigating the trail you will find the gate house to the mansion. The property is surrounded by a twelve foot stone fence around the entire property. There were gate houses all around the property but the most common one to find was the one from the south as the one to the west went over a cliff the one to the east went into a mountain and the one to the north went to the woods and lake beyond.

The gate houses each had their own history and lore. The gate house to the south would be where invited guests were received. The gate to the west opened to the cliff where you could climb down a steep path that led to the river. This way to the mansion was treacherous an many have went to god on tis path. If you made it from the dock and up the path to the mansion you were very lucky. The gate house to the east and went right into the hill. There was a cave or you had to climb over and many claimed it was like a mountain. Then the final gate house was to the north. It led to the lake and behind the lake the forest which was reported to be haunted.

So how did I come to be at the forest? I received a letter from someone who was connected to the property that said, "I am finally ready to tell the story of the bloody mansion."

I called the phone number on the letter and spoke with Ben the current descendent who owns the property. We made arrangements to meet at the south gate of the property and I arrive early with my recorders, camera, pen and paper in my bag, eager to learn about the mansion. Parking my car outside the gate I got out and used the intercom to buzz the house.

A voice responded with, "I will be with you in a few minutes."

Taking out my camera I started to take pictures from the gate. A few minutes later a young man looking quite ragged came through the gate and said, "Mollie I am so sorry that I took it so long to come and meet you. The house seems to know you are here and they are a bit surprised I let you come here."

"You mean the ghosts?" I asked.

He looked surprised and said, "You know the stories?"

"My Grandpa was Frank," I said. "The gatekeeper back in the eighties."

"Well," He said. "Would you be shocked if his ghost showed up here?"

Chuckling I said, "He still visits at the family home so no it would not shock me. Ben are you alright? You seem like something happened before you came out here."

He sighed and rubbed his temple. Looking at me he said, "Lets walk the walls you may get some pictures for your blog and newspaper article."

We headed to the cliffs as he said, "The last death on the property was the man that replaced Frank after your Grandpa left. Mark had radioed in telling me to stay in the house there was someone trying to come up the west entrance. When I did not hear from him for a while, I called the police and explained the situation. They found Mark's body an hour later. The police think that Mark fell off the cliff."

"What happened today?" I asked.

"I let the spirits in the home know you were coming last night," He said. "The noise they have been creating has been short of chaos, and I had to get them to agree to not hurt you."

"I appreciate that," I said. "However, do not be afraid I am used to ghosts being buttholes. The ones in my old home think they run the place when they do not."

We went towards the mansion and I asked, "You live here, but the house looks like it needs a facelift."

Sighing, he said, "That is because it does. However, due to the residents in the home, we cannot hire anyone to come in and repair the building."

When he got to the door he said, "Welcome to the famous murder mansion."

We walked into the entryway of the mansion and he directed me to the door on the left. Going into the first sitting room he pointed to the chairs next to the fire and he gave me a smile. "I appreciate you coming here to interview me. There was a reason that I offered to let you come here to interview me and it is not a good reason."

"Oh," I said. "Should I be worried about becoming the next murder victim?"

"God no," He said. "I am dying. Frank always told me his granddaughter had an eye and ear for the paranormal, but you were so young when he worked here, he did not want to bring you here."

"Ben what can I do to help you," I asked.

A woman appeared behind him and screamed, "Nothing you harlot, you leave my boy alone and let him die at home in peace."

Before Ben could say anything, I said, "If you are his mother, you are a shit one. I do not have children, but if I did and one of them was sick, I would fight hell itself to save them. You maam are a cranky bitch and do not make me say it again when I say if you raise your voice to me again you will lose yours."

She looked shocked, and Ben asked, "You see my mom?"

Nodding, I said, "I see her as she was yelling at me, and I see more in the shadows."

Nodding, he said, "Well, I would like to offer you something that no one can."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Stay with me till the end," He said. "Be my companion and help me as I cannot have a nurse come here. If you stay here, you will inherit the home and can do whatever you want with it after I die. The Doctors say I have about two years left."

"Is there any chance that you can make it through treatment?" I asked.

"I have been to two doctors, and if you are willing to come with me to my next appointment, we will see what can be done," He said. "You do not have to decide until after coming with me to the next doctor's appointment. You would get paid to stay with me and a place to stay. When I pass, you will get the home and property to do whatever you want with it."

I sat thinking for a while and asked, "Why me?"

"Because Frank and I have read your articles in the paper," He said. "If anyone can do this place justice it's you."

"Okay," I said. "So as your companion what would you expect me to do?"

"Be a friend who is not dead," He said. "Maybe a companion with benefits later on if we form that relationship. The second would not be a deal breaker. During my remaining time we can go through the house and you can learn the stories. Also, four hours a day you will be able to remodel the house, starting with the greenhouse."

I sat thinking about the offer for a few minutes and said, "I will do it. I will have to pack a bag and come back."

He nodded and said, "You did not think about this for long."

Sighing, I said, "Recently, my boyfriend left me, and I have been sleeping in the guest room of a friend's home. I really do not have much going on at the moment, and I would love to help you. Besides Ben, we can always hope the Doctors are wrong and you will be around for a long time."

"There is more," He said.

"Your quick," I said. "When you first came through the gate I felt a pull to you. Almost as if we are meant to be together either as companions or more. Probably more."

He gave a small smirk and said, "Well, I will look forward to the more."

Chuckling I said, "Will they get mad if you want to come to town?"

His mother went infront of me and said, "No."

Standing up I squared my shoulders and asked, "Do you want him to die?"

"He is sick and its inevitable," She said.

"You think so huh," I said stepping up to her. "Like I said you are a shit Mom."

"You think you can save him?" she said.

"Possibly," I said. "But you need to back down or I will get you out of here. Answer me this how many spirits?"

"Why," She asked.

"I need to know what I am working with," I said. "I am not an ordinary woman, so answer my question how many of them are there."

"563," She answered. "Including myself."

"So be it," I said. "Ben would you like to get a jacket? We are going to grab groceries after this."

"Groceries?" He asked.

"We are implementing a plan to save you," I said. "Fuck what the doctors say. That starts with a diet that can help you."

He gave a small smile and said, "Well, well, Mollie, let's see what you can do to help me."

His Mom turned to him and said, "Ben sweetie do you think this is a good idea?"

"Yes mother I do," He said. "Please do not interfere with Mollie and I. You did enough in my previous ones already."

We loaded ourselves in the golf cart and headed to my car. We loaded in and went to my friends house. On the drive Ben asked, "Why do you not live with your Grandmother?"

Chuckling I said, "Because my parents live with her and I cannot be there with them. They are not good parents."

Gathering my things from my friend's house, I drove to a local grocery store. We loaded our cart with healthy nutritious food along with cleaning supplies and when we went to the checkout out Ben took out his card and said, "Sorry I am the type of guy who pays for it all."

I went to argue and he put a finger to my lips. I said, "Fine for now."

We loaded my car up and headed back to the mansion. We loaded everything in the cart, and when we pulled up to the mansion, his mother came out looking at everything we had. I said to Ben,"I know you wanted to start with the greenhouse, however i think we should start with the attic."

"I am not opposed to that," He said. "May I ask why the attic?"

"Because its the highest room in the house," I said as we carried in the groceries. "It will set a precident for a calm and healthy home."

He said, "I am down with that. What do we do with the items we decide to not keep?"

"Burn or sell," I said. "From what I see, there is a lot of dirt and grime. Most things may not be able to be saved. We will have to see. But I do see some cozy bonfires in or future."

He nodded and said, "Well let me show you to your room. Consider everything in this home yours. We will have the worlds best scavenger hunt. Do you know anyone who will buy possible haunted items?"

"I do," I said. "Let me send them a text and see what they want to do."

He pointed to a door and said, "That is my room. However this is yor room."

He opened the door next to his room. We walked in and he opened the curtains. I said, "This is lovely."

Pointing to a door, he said, "That is the door between our rooms. Do not worry, my mother tries to avoid this wing."

"May I ask why?" I asked.

"It was my Grandparents' wing," He said. "They did not get along well."

Bens stomach growled and I looked at my watch. Chuckling I said, "Well it looks like we are having a late lunch. Is there anything you do not like?"

He said, "I like about everything."

"Panini's it is," I said.

Heading down to the kitchen I took a cast-iron out and placed it on the stove. Ben pointed out the cutting boards and plates. I grabbed the items to make turkey BLT paninis."

He watched as I prepared lunch and he said, "That looks so good."

"What do you normally eat?" I asked.

"Canned goods or frozen dinners," He said.

"Cans are alright if you eat it in moderation," I said. "Same with the frozen food. I did see the items in both the freezer and pantry. Don't worry, we will track what you are eating now and see if this helps you."

Boiling water I made us some green tea to have with our sandwiches. When lunch was ready we sat at the counter and I pointed to Ben to try the Panini."

He took a bite and he said, "It tastes so fresh."

Giving a bog smile I said, "That is what we want."

After we ate I said, "How much water are you drinking each day?"

"Not much," He said.

"We need to change that," I said.  "See I can down coffee all day but if I have ice water I am more willing to drink that. Especially if it has lemons or fruit in it. So let me get the water bottles I bought and try that out."

Slicing some lemons I made two containers of lemon water. Handing him his cup, I took mine and said, "Let is go check out the attic."

We climbed the stairs to the attic and when Ben opened the door we heard a voice that said, "Get out."

Sighing I said, "Nope, we are cleaning her out."

Ben put the light on and I saw shadows move in the back of the attic. He said, "There are at least five spirits in this room that I know of."

Sitting down on a chair near the door I asked Ben, "How many rooms are in this house?"

Handing me a list, He said, "One hundred and seven."

Reading the list I said, "Well we will be having a bunch of bonfires. I see a lot of items are so damaged we will not be able to save them. So we will be burning a bit. I see some items I can have my friend pick up. But where would we burn them."

He stood up and put out his hand, "Follow me."

He kept my hand in his and we went down to the sunroom. Opening the door he took me to the patio outside. There was a massive fire pit. He said, "This should work right?"

Nodding I said, "This is perfect. Shall we get to work?"

He said, "Lets start."

We went back to the attic and when we went in an elderly lady appeared to us and said, "You are going to destroy us."

Sitting down I pointed to a chair and asked, "Why have you not moved on? Do you not want me to save Ben?"

She looked at Ben and stroked his cheek. She said, "Yes I want him saved. If you can do that I will be very happy."

"What is your name," I asked.

Ben said, "This is my great aunt Ester. She was my Dad's Aunt."

A man appeared next to her and said, "If you think you can prolong Bens life we will gladly move on. My name is Sammy. I am Esther's husband."

"Have you tried to move on?" I asked.

"Yes," Sammy said. "Something is keeping us here. So if you find it please burn it so we can be set free."

"Will you know when we find it?" Ben asked.

"Yes," He said.

๐ŸŽ„Tiktok- The cabin- The next Chapter (multibook series+ prequel-the history of the cabin)

 ************************************************************************

The Cabin The Next Chapter!
************************************************************************

Waking up the following morning I saw that it was after nine. Normally I do not sleep that late but with all the excitement and celebrating I was a bit over tired. Walking downstairs I found the ghosts in the kitchen with Karen reading to them. When I walked in everyone said, "Good Morning!"

Looking at them I said, "You all are in here today? What is going on?"

Karen said, "Nothing usually when Scott listens to the news he leaves the TV on but we thought it would be best to let you sleep. He already had breakfast and met Shane to work on the new pool. If we had the pool when I was alive I would not have been so cranky but my husband was not very nice and it had to be his way."

Ellie patted her hand and said, "No he was not the nicest man but I am sure we can visit the pool when its built and soak our toes."

"Can you do that," I ask. "I mean soak your toes?"

Ellie said, "Yes we can. "We don't get wet like you do but we can feel the temperature and the pressure of the water. It is quite calming. We avoid the river because it can give us a feeling of chaos."

"Well I am sure you will enjoy the pool," I said. "When we were shopping we found bushes and plants that will be going around it and it is going to be a relaxing place."

Looking through the inside freezer I took some chicken out to make chicken salad for lunches. Getting a pot out I started boiling some eggs for salads. Malakai looked up and asked, "What are you making Cami?"

"Scott has a busy work week coming up so I am going to make some salads for his lunches," I said. "I figured I could make some chicken, egg and tuna salad sandwich makings so he can have easy lunches."

Scott came in as I said that and he said, "That sound like a good idea. I know you have off a bit this week and plan on walking around the property but I am going to be busy. I was thinking we have the cheddar brats in the freezer why don't we make that and fries for dinner."

Going into the fridge and took out some bacon to make breakfast. I asked Scott if he ate and he said, "I did. I finished the bread from the other night. But how about you make some flat breads for this week. We can even use them with dinner tonight."

I smiled and asked, "Would you like assorted flavors?"

"Yes please," He said.

"Well I am going to work on that while I get some cleaning done," I said.

He kissed me and said, "Well Shane and I are leveling the ground and hopefully will have the sides to the pool up by dinner tonight."

"Well later tonight we are supposed to have some rain so if it is up and lined we can catch some rain water," I said. "Then it won't cost us as much to fill it."

When Scott left I started some laundry from what was in the hamper and what we used around the house. Putting the chicken on to boil for the salad. Making myself some breakfast I cooked up extra bacon to add to the chicken and egg salad. Then I mixed up the flat bread dough that needed to raise in double batches and different flavors. When I was finished cleaning I went into the kitchen and started to roll out the flat breads and cook them while I made the salads. When I was done making everything I put it in the containers and into the fridge. Walking to the greenhouse I did a bit of weeding and decided to take a walk along the property.

Following the property line along the river I walked and saw an old tent. I saw there was plastic totes of items and a grill. Closing my eyes I knew I had found where my Dad had stayed. I felt a breeze go past me and asked, "Who is there?"

There was no response I said, "My name is Cami and I am the new owner of the property. When your ready to introduce yourself I will be glad to meet you."

Continuing along the path I came to the back corner of the property. It was over run with brush and I saw what I thought was burial markers. Not wanting to mess with it yet I followed the wall. When I was a few feet from the middle of the wall I looked back toward the cabin and saw smoke coming from the brush and tree line. Thinking that there could be squatters I went to the area I saw the smoke. There was the foundation to an old house with a fire place standing tall. There was no fire in the fireplace but there was smoke coming from the chimney.

I called out, "Okay I saw the smoke so you must want to talk with me. Who are you?"

The breeze picked up and I heard a voice say, "Find the journals when you are ready."

Walking the foundation I found a latch and when I went to touch it I said, "Not yet. I need some time to settle in. I will be back for you."

Walking towards the house I saw the bandits running through the orchard and said, "Guys do not be starting any trouble I am not in the mood do you hear me?"

Sam stopped and said, "Yes Maam. We like you, you have not shot at us once."

"Well behave and I will have no reason to alright?" I said. "Did you cause the smoke from the old home?"

Jim looked back and said, "No Miss we spirits are not allowed on that property. We can see it but we cannot go there."

"Thank you," I said. "I am going back to the house now you boys have a good afternoon."

Walking through the property I found Scott and Shane putting up the walls to the pool. When Scott noticed me he said, "What have you been up to?"

Chuckling I said, "Exploring the property. I may have found a graveyard in the back corner but I did not want to get into the branches so I stopped when I could not walk back. I may have also found my Dads tent and belongings. Everything is safe in the tent so I am leaving that there for now."

Scott said, "Take your time on it Cami. Do not push yourself."

"Well I will not push myself but I think I am exploring to figure out the paths I want to put in and where we are going to have our wedding ceremony," I said. "But that won't be for a while yet. I think my first project is going to be the barn. That way we can consider getting animals on the property. But I will let you guys get those walls up I feel like a storm is coming in and I want to explore the front of the property as well."

I walked around the house and to the barn. Opening up all the doors and windows I saw that it needed to be cleaned out and parts of the roof needed to be fixed. Outside the barn I found a huge bin for animal waste to make our compost pile. Bringing the wheel barrow inside I started to clean out the stalls in the barn and bring the waste to the huge compost bin.

As I wheeled the wheel barrow back in and worked on the first stall I heard, "You did not tell Scott about finding the original cabin."

Turning I said, "No because as close as he is to it, he would have seen and smelled the smoke Malakai. I believe only the people who need to see it see it. Also Why can you ghosts not go in there?"

"I believe that is our portal to the afterlife," He said. "Not the afterlife here on earth but heaven and hell."

"Well for now," I said. "Lets ignore the original cabin. So Why don't you educate me about the barn. I see she needs some handy work and a good clean but while I clean tell me about the animals and why in the world we have two chicken coops."

"Well one is a chicken coop and one is a duck pen," He said. "If you follow the path around you will see a hole in the ground that is covered for meat ducks. Both the coops are quite spacious and then you have the four cow stalls for milk cows. Then you have the pig pen, rabbit pens, sheep pens, horse stalls, The chicken coop, The barn holds a variety of animals but she does need a good clean out and some repairs. But you have plenty of time."

"Well I want to get chickens and not sure if I want ducks or game birds," I said. "I see the game bird cages in the one barn stall. So much cleaning to do."

Malakai chuckled and said, "You see my predicament and why I was obsessed."

"It is a lot of work," I said.

"I will say when I was raising quail here my wife preferred the meat to ducks," He said. "However that being said they are a fast meat to grow fatten and harvest. My wife would make an amazing pot pie with them."

"You know a homemade chicken pot pie does sound good," I said. "I may have to make one tonight for dinner."

Scott walked in and said, "Make what?"

"Malakai was telling me how his wife would make pot pies out of game birds," I said. "I was thinking of making a chicken pot pie for dinner instead of the brats."

Scott asked, "With a biscuit topping I love when you make it with the biscuit topping."

"Yes," I said. "With the biscuit topping."

Scott said, "Well I was going to cook the brats but that sounds so much better. You going to use the wood stove?"

"Sure am," I said. "My goal now is to be more self sufficient. Besides the pool I am thinking of adding an outdoor kitchen later on plus a larger patio for the grill. But can you imagine an outdoor kitchen with a bread or pizza oven, a cast iron wood stove, sink and preparation area?"

Scott laughed and said, "Well off the greenhouse there is that pile of rocks. We could clear that and build the outdoor kitchen there?"

"You may not want to move the stones," Malakai said.

"Why not?" Scott asked.

"Because that is where the water drains off the house and under the stones gets muddy, It forms a small stream that goes down  to the river." He said. "Ellies husband was the one who put the stones there to keep the ground solid and have a way across. However you could build a patio above the rocks so the water still drains and the ground is protected. When it rains the water is diverted from the rocks and goes behind the pool and to the river. I can show you the next big rain."

Scott said, "We could do a raised kitchen off the back with a cover. That would be better than diverting the water. Do you have any other places that form rivers or streams?"

"A few," Malakai said. "You will see similar rock piles throughout the property. It is easier to notice during the rainy season. Thankfully the river that boarders the land does not get very high."

Stretching I said, "Well I think I am done working out here today. I am going to get dinner started. I will think about what kind of animals I want in here after I get the whole barn cleaned out and we repair what needs to be fixed."

Walking back to the house I started the wood oven thankful for the new air conditioners. Taking down the jar of the freeze dried chicken and I started to reconstitute a two cups of the meat. While I did that I cut fresh vegetables to add to it and started cooking them on the wood stove. When the vegetables were done I added the meat and a can of cream of chicken soup. While that bubbled I made a quick biscuit topping and layered it on the top of the mix. Placing it in the oven I went to the office and wrote until my timer went off for the pot pie.

Walking to where Scott was working on the pool I said, "Dinner is done. Do you want to eat now or wait a while?"

He looked up and said, "Let me clean up. By then I will be ready to eat."

Scott cleaned up the tools and I said, "You made so much progress. Your almost done."

He laughed and said, "Well we saw on the news we are supposed to have rain on Tuesday night and all day Wednesday so I figured if we can get it in before hand we can let the rain help us fill it."

"That sounds like a good plan," I said. "By next weekend we can start swimming in the pool."

Laughing he said, "Just in time for the summer heat. Shane thinks the pool would help Shiloh's injuries."

"Oh that would be great if it could help her," I said.

Scott said, "Give me a few more minutes and I will be inside to wash up and we can have dinner."

Smiling I went inside and set the table getting everything set up. When Scott came in we sat down after he washed up and ate. While we ate he asked me, "So did you want to get some animals for the barn?"

"I would like to," I said. "Definitely chickens. I would also like to add a horse or two later since we have such a large piece of property it would be nice to ride again. But first things first we need to clean it out and get it fixed out. Not including safe for animals. I would not want to bring any animals into the barn if they would not be safe in their."

He nodded and said, "I agree. Once the pool is in I will work on getting the barn fixed up."

"Well I will be helping," I said. "Since this is a light work week I will be out there and cleaning it. What kind of animals would you like?"

He smiled and said, "I like the idea of getting chickens and horses. I was also thinking of a dairy cow? Would you like fresh milk?"

"I would love to get a milk cow," I said. "We both seem to handle filtered milk a lot better than the store bought. Also the cream and butter milk we could get by making our own fresh butter. But for now lets get the barn fixed and see what we can do"

"Well we can definitely see what we come across but I agree I do not want to place animals until we know they would be safe," He said.

As we ate we talked about different animals and I said, "I know we could raise quails for meat as well. The idea of butchering scares me but it would be a great way to cut expenses and we both have had quail at restaurants before."

Scott said, "Pigs as well."

We ate and talked about the animals we would get. After a while we cleaned up our mess and headed up to our room. When it was time for bed he asked, "Do you know when you would like to get married?"

Smiling I said, "I was thinking in the fall If not this year, next year. I do not want to go broke with expenses or rush us to get the property ready. I know we want to celebrate with family and friends. Is that alright with you?"

He hugged me and said, "Next fall would be great. This fall may rush us a bit and your right we can start to get things slowly and get the property ready including the driveway. With the rainy season coming we would have to fight the weather to lay the driveway and paths."

"Your not upset about waiting?" I asked.

He laughed and said, "No not at all. We knew it would be forever regardless of a wedding or not. I want to make sure your alright with waiting. So tomorrow during dinner we can look at dates for next fall and see what we like the best and pick one."

I started to giggle and he asked, "You figured out a date didn't you?"

"Yes it just so happens the anniversary of us moving in together is on a Saturday next fall," I said.

"October fifteenth?" He asked.

"Yes," I said. "How about next year on October fifteenth we make this all official?"

He walked over and kissed me. When he pulled back he said, "I think that works great."

Smiling I said, "Well then we have over a year a a half to to prepare. I was thinking that we could build a covered pavilion."

"For the ceremony?" He asked climbing into the bed.

"No for the reception," I said. "I want to build up the front walking paths and in the center there is a big open space for the ceremony. I was thinking of building a pavilion. Kind of like what the old  community had to cover all the picnic tables. Then we will have a party pavilion after the wedding. I was thinking about even adding a bathroom so we do not have to get porta potties."

"Do you have any idea where you want to put a party pavilion yet?" He asked while I climbed into bed.

"Not yet I was going to walk around the property this week and look," I said. Pulling up the blanket I said, "I would like to decide early and then we can plan on having it built and no surprises on where we will be having the ceremony and reception.

Scott started laughing and said, "My planner. I think you will have everything planned well before we are six months out to make it go smooth and easy. Also if we are going to add a bathroom to the party pavilion, we better add full electricity so we can use the the pavilion all the time."

Snuggling up to him I said, "That sounds like a great plan."

Falling asleep I started to dream about the future of the property. As if I am flying over the property I saw a party pavilion and animals in the barn. Then I came up to the house and there on the porch was Scott and I with a little girl in braids and my stomach was blooming with pregnancy for a second time.

๐ŸŽ„The Winter War- On Tik Tok 3 book series

Waiting for the train to arrive I sat on my front porch. Looking at my bag I sighed thinking that this had to be my perfect nightmare. I had left the day I turned eighteen and vowed I would never go back but I was summoned and when my father sends a summons you learn not to disobey. From what I heard Dad has been ruling with a iron fist lately and the sounds of an uprising has been frequent.

I heard the sound of the train approaching and stood up. I looked at my home one last time hoping that I would return. Now I know you might ask is your home located next to train tracks? The answer to that would be no. Have you ever seen the movie the polar express. Yeah they were not off as the train is a portal between both our worlds. No body can see it but when it arrives at your door step you do not deny the train conductor.

A young porter jumped off the train and ran up to take my bag. He bowed and said, "Your highness its a pleasure to assist you on your journey home."

Giving a weak smile I said, "Thank you."

He gave a big smile and said, "I understand you been gone for a while Miss. The conductor arranged for a private room for you."

Sighing I said, "Thank you. I'm sorry sweetie what's your name?"

He looked at me and said, "It's Kline your Highness. Follow me please."

"Please," I said. "Call me Amelia. I am not fond of being reminded that I am related to the royal family."

Quietly he said, "Miss as much as I would like to I would be afraid for my safety."

Nodding I followed him to my private room at the front of the train. As we went through the few carriages I heard whispers of shock that the princess has returned. I can hear you now, "Princess of what country?"

Well that is easy, I am Princess Amelia Klaus of the North Pole. My father is father Christmas, otherwise known as Santa Klaus. My Father used to be a kind and loving man, however when I turned eighteen he became harsh and mean. We still do not know what caused this, for my own happiness and safety my brothers encouraged me to go south. It has been six years since I have been home. It has also been four months since I have heard from my brothers. My twenty fourth birthday is coming up on Christmas Eve and I have a bad feeling about this.

I settled into my suite and there was a knock at my door. The porter came in with a letter. Taking the letter I said, "Thank you Kline."

"Would you like anything your highness?" He asked.

"No I am fine thank you," I said. "I will ring you if I need anything."

Sitting down I opened the letter. It was from my Mother.

Amelia,

I am so sorry that we had to call you away from your life that you have formed in the mountains of Tennessee. Your father does not know I am writing you this and I had one of my men sneak this to the train that was sent to fetch you. Please act surprised when he announces this, however, he plans to betroth you to Prince Constantine of the South Pole. He is planning this as a political alliance. On the day of your birth, before his yearly flight, he expects you to marry him. I have tried to talk reason into him, however, I was threaten with house arrest. Please be careful on what you say. Prince Constantine is a kind and good man. I believe he is being forced into this as well. Please be careful and watch what you say when you arrive.

All my Love,
Mother

PS. Burn this as soon as you are done.

I stood up ripping the paper and envelope. I put it in the fire and burn the paper as instructed. As I stocked the fire to make sure everything had burned there was heavy knocks at my door. I called out, "One moment I am changing."

"Miss you must open the door now," The voice said.

Taking off my sweater i had over my blouse, I unbuttoned a few buttons as I opened the door. I said, "What is wrong?"

"We had suspicions that a letter was sent to you from the North Pole," the guard said, "We have to inspect the room."

"What no cameras in my room?" I asked.

"No miss," He said. "This is the royal room, and we do not want to spy on the royal family."

"Well, all that was brought to me was a menu in case I became hungry," I said. Picking up the menu from the table. "The porter was doing his job quite well. I hope you did not hurt him."

The guards face softened and said, "Not at all Princess. We had to follow up on a tip."

"I have been gone for six years," I said. "Why is there so much to do about things?"

He said, "Sorry, Princess, it is not my place."

๐ŸŽ„Haunted House. part 1 (25 book series+ Character books)

Looking up at the house I could feel the eyes of the dead watching me. Sighing I closed my eyes and started to count the spirits that I could see and feel. When I reached twenty-five I knew this was gonna take forever. Lifting my suitcase I walked up to the porch. Unlocking the front door I walked in and the first thing I heard was a voice saying, "Get out."

Chuckling to myself I walked to the dining room and sat at the head of the table. Preparing myself I said, "As much as I would love to get out you are stuck with me. If I leave my great uncle Richard will take this place and turn it into a freak show and that is not something either of us want is it? If we work together we can save this house and create something he can never take from me. What do you say?"

A young couple formed to my left and the man asked, "What do you have in mind?"

"I would like to wait and discuss that with everyone," I said. "This is going to be a large team effort."

The woman put her hand on his arm and said, "Everyone our Granddaughter has a plan to save the house and protect us from Richard, I know all of you don't like to come out but we really need to meet with Molly "

Looking up I asked, "Granddaughter?"

The man smiles and said, "Yes. Mr. Lewis the lawyer knows our ghosts have been here since we passed. Poor guy was one of my closest friends growing up. I am glad he kept his word as my brother Richard has always been a horrible person."

"You were both my Mom's parents," I said. "You know she wanted to meet you all her life before she passed away."

He gave a sad look as he said, "We had a fight when your Mom when she met your Dad. I wish I could go back in time and change everything. When your mom disappeared in the middle of the night we tried to find her but her and your Dad disappeared where we could not find them. We hired investigators to find them and we were unable to until we saw their  death notice. The reason we did not reach out to you was Mr. Lewis advised that you were upset and did not want any of your Mom's family around."

Quietly I said, "I lost both Mom and Dad together I didn't want any of Dad's family around me. When Aunt Catherine brought Uncle Richard to me I put two and two together. Mr. Lewis came to me right after Richard and Aunt Catherine left and explained everything. The next day Aunt Catherine came over and said that if a lawyer comes to see me I should give Uncle Richard his family home. It took a moment to realize they were working together and I said to her I wanted to see the home."

"The day after I walked the house," I said. "Well walked the house to the best of my ability as this house is crazy packed."

My Grandma laughed and said, "Well that is because we liquidated our vacation properties a few years before we were killed."

"Uncle Richard killed you didn't he?" I asked.

Grandpa said, "Well he was behind it but he did not kill us. He hired a couple of thugs to do it. But you are safe we will all make sure you are."

I closed my eyes as the room shifted and said, "Hello everyone. I felt you all as you made your way into the dining room. I didn't realize there were so many of you here."

Opening my eyes I looked around and saw shimmers of people all over the room. My Grandma said, "There are over a hundred ghosts in this house. Each room averages two to three deaths per room. Some more, some less. So Molly how are you going to save us?"

Smiling I said, "Well since the house is labeled haunted we are going to give the people what they want."

I had a lot of looks of confusion from the spirits. Laughing I asked, "So let me ask this who was the last to die in this house?"

A young woman stepped forward and said, "Richard lured me here saying that he was going to hire me as a mural artist. He brought me to the library and let's just say that man has some disgusting kinks. I know what your thinking and I love it. Remember you will need to have event insurance. By the way my name is Kayla."

"Hi Kayla," I said. "Well everyone the plan is I am opening the house up to ghost tours. Each tour will be a group of ten people and they can come looking for paranormal evidence. These tours will be from six to midnight only and all you all would do is maybe move a item, shut a door or glimmer in and out of existence."

Kayla said, "I can explain further and girl this place is talked about so you best charge for the tours and letting them ghost hunt."

Laughing I said, "Do not worry about that I already had a plan drawn up and Mr. Lewis was kind enough to draw me up a contract. The remaining part of the plan is this house is going to get a remodel. I am going to clear out some room in the master bedroom and change the outside locks for the house. Everyone you are getting a human housemate and the house is going to be redone."

A elderly woman sitting at the table asked, "What about all of us?"

"That is up to you," I said. "I am a writer and I am writing a blog about my life here. As for the spirits in the house you can tell me your story if you want or if you want I can help you and you can stay or move on."

Grandma asked, "Well sweetheart when are you moving in and what room are you going to remodel first?"

Smiling I said, "I am moving in fully by tomorrow and starting tours in the next week or two. The first room I am going to do is the office. That way I can also sell the things I do not decide to keep. Speaking of which I do need to go buy some totes for storage. I do have to apologize though everyone. Tomorrow morning the moving company will be bringing over my parents belongings to their home and my house. I have everything packed and labeled ready to be brought to one of the many rooms in the house. Mr. Lewis will be stopping by as well."

My Grandfather asked, "So may I ask how you will be paying for this?"

Chuckling I said, "Well Grandpa before I decided to move in the family home I worked as a marketing manager. I made really great money and owned my home. Mom and Dad owned their house. I sold both their home and my home yesterday and tomorrow is moving day. Also up till last month I was engaged to be married and found my ex fiancรฉ was sleeping with my boss. Although I am thankful to be rid of the fiancรฉ I would have liked to keep the job. The sale of both  the homes as well as my healthy savings and investments means I do not need money. I am also a person who knows how to sell and price items. However I only allotted ten thousand for the remodel of the home. The remaining money will be coming from the sales of the items. But the house is in much better condition than I thought so I should be able to get what I need done. On a very thrifty basis."

Grandma asked, "What about Richard?"

Smiling I said, "Oh I have a private detective on him. I also think that he also has evidence in the house with all the murders he has committed. So any questions?"

Grandma said, "Well as much as I do not want to have people in our home, the idea of rebuilding the home and making it a grand home again."

"So how many ghost are here?" I asked.

A elderly man appeared on my other side and said, "Well Missy you are something I am glad your my great so many grandchild. To answer your question we sit at 174 spirits."

"Well then this is going to be an interesting refurbish," I said. "So you all have a lot of options you can appear to the investigators, move things, speak while hidden, basically show proof of life after death."

Kayla snorted and said, "Oh this is going to be fun."

"All I ask is to not do anything dangerous near the people and do not have people think you are evil or bad," I said. "Now I do have one request. When I am in the master bedroom or bathroom please leave me be. I do like my privacy. But if I am other rooms in the house I am all set to talk and interact."

The elderly man came up and placed his hand on mine. When I felt the cold touch he smiled and said, "Its my trick and I promise to behave and help this house shine."

Smiling I stood up and said, "Well then I will see you all tomorrow. I do need to ask please leave the movers alone they have three moving trucks to move into the home for both houses."

As I picked up my purse I heard murmurs of agreement. My Grandparents nodded and as I headed to the door I called back, "Also tomorrow I have someone coming in to put security cameras up and I will be running them to my YouTube page. Which means it may catch ghosts if you want to play around with practicing for the ghost hunters. Think about it and talk among yourselves."

Walking out of the house I went to the house I was moving out of. Driving past I went to the Italian place down the road from my house I sold. As I was sat at a table I heard, "Niece what are you doing here?"

Looking up I saw my uncle Richard and Aunt Catherine standing next to my table. Smiling I said, "Well like anyone who is moving I decided to not mess up my packed up home."

"Moving?" Aunt Catherine said.

"Yes," I said. "I sold my and my parents homes and moved into my family estate that was left for me. I went in today and took stock to make sure everything will fit and also made a map of where all my security cameras are going to be placed."

Uncle Richard said, "So I take it you did not take what I offered to heart?"

"No," I said. "I actually did and decided that I wanted to move into the family home and make it into something wonderful. Never fear I will invite you to visit once I remodel and make it something I want to share."

Aunt Catherine said, "My dear you will regret that. Why not let us join you?"

"No," I said. "After talking to a lot of the homes visitors I will remain there alone."

Uncle Richard said, "Well don't you worry about your personal safety?"

Chuckling I said, "Not at all I am quite skilled with guns and swords. I pity the person who tried something in my home. Now if you will excuse me I am going to eat and then get ready to move."

I watched them leave and talked with the wait staff as I waited for my dinner. After I ate I headed back to my car and home, I was thankful it was still light out. Going inside I said, "Well Mom and Dad I know your things are going to the family estate. I hope if your attached to something and I will see you again soon."

Going to my room I took a shower and threw my dirty clothes into a garbage bag. Crawling into my bed I pulled out my phone and ordered supplies to pick up in the morning before the moving company arrived. Once I ordered cleaning supplies, fifteen large totes, masking tape, pricing tags and permanent markers I placed my phone on my side table and went to sleep.

When my alarm went off the next morning I crawled out of bed and pulled on work out clothes. Putting the blanket and pillows into a box and made sure everything was labeled I went out to my SUV and headed to pick up everything I ordered. Then I headed back to my house as the movers were pulling up to the house. Getting out of my SUV I went to the main mover and said, "The house if ready to be loaded in every room of the house. Please make sure you get everything from the attic, basement and sheds."

He nodded and said, "Do not worry Molly we will have everything out. Now as we discussed this is the largest truck and we will get everything we can in it but may have to make multiple trips to the new house."

"That's fine," I said. "I am going to sit at the kitchen table working until you are ready with the first load."

Sitting at the kitchen counter I worked on my Blog, The Haunted House. I was typing away posting details on the house when Marv the owner of the moving company said, "Well Molly we got most of the top floor packed into the truck if you are ready we can head to the new house. Also do not worry we have double and triple checked every room to make sure its tagged and everything is taken from the room."

"Perfect," I said. "I will head over to the new house and meet you there."

Placing my laptop in my bag I went to my car and drove to the family home. When I got there I went inside and said, "Everyone please do not scare the workers they are moving me in."

I heard various spirits call out understood and we got it. The door bell rang and I let Marv and the guys in the house. He asked, "Where will you be?"

I handed him a map and said, "In my office. I am starting to get it ready to remodel. But first I need to grab the supplies I bought to get things posted on my website to start selling."

I brought everything in from my car and went to the office. The reason I wanted to start with this room was because even after things were brought in I would have enough room to remodel and store everything. On the furthest wall behind the desk I cleared everything and grabbed a bucket of water from the bathroom and started to clean the walls and floors. Noticing the walls were a pale shade of blue that needed to be cleaned I decided the office did not need to be painted. After I washed the walls Marv knocked and said, "You were serious about getting everything started. We are ready to go back."

Grabbing my bag we went back to my house and I continued to work on my laptop. When we went back to the family home I would work on getting that area of the room ready. By the time we finished unloading my house I had a good corner finished with the floor scrubbed and I had taken the curtains down and decided to keep the white under curtains as the main curtains for the room. As I started all the white curtains in the washer we headed back to my house for one last walk through and to get the very few things left.

When I signed off for my house I handed the keys to the new owner who was right on time. Then we headed over to my parents house to start loading everything up. As the moving company started to unload I went into the laundry room and hung up the damp curtains to dry. Taking out the card table I placed it in front of the windows and got the totes placed under it to start organizing what I am selling.

After four trips to my parents house I signed off that everything was packed and delivered. I met the new owners and handed over the keys. When I walked into the house, I shut the door behind me and said, "Alright everyone I am so sorry everything is so cluttered but I am officially moved in you can move freely."

Walking to the master bedroom I went to the master bedroom and made my bed. Moving a case of my soaps to the bathroom I opened my luggage and hung a pile of clothes in the master closet. Looking at the clothes I heard, "Well I will say that you would look lovely in most of the pieces. Although I believe you have your own clothing style."

Chuckling I said, "Well I do seem to like everything in here. You never know what I may want to keep. But for now I have boxes upon boxes in the office. I also brought over a set of filing cabinets to fill with important papers and documents. Then I have a paper shredder to destroy what we will not be keeping."

"What about a place for valuables?" She asked.

Smiling I said, "Well Grandma did you see that massive wooden bear that was brought into the office and placed next to the desk?"

"I did," She said.

"Well good ole yogi has a safe hidden inside of his belly," I said. "You can't tell but he can hold quite a bit."

She laughed and said, "Oh that is splendid. Molly that will be a hoot I cannot wait to see it opened."

Smiling I said, "Well then the house is packed, I am as unpacked as I can get at the moment, The house is locked up. I think I am going to order a pizza because I do not want to cook tonight. Then while I am waiting I am going to go into the office and place the first of the items into the store."

Going into the office I placed an order for a pile of food and started the office. Arranging the filing cabinets against a section of wall I had cleaned already. On the item page I set a disclaimer that the items are pick up at the house or each item will have a flat rate for shipping. I opened the first of many of crates in the room. I found a pile of vintage romance novels. I looked up prices and added the pictures to the website pricing everything. Placing everything in corresponding totes I continued on until the doorbell rang and my food was delivered. Tipping the delivery driver I went into the kitchen and placed all the food onto the small table.

"Now young lady do you think that you need all that food?" A man said as he leaned against the counter.

"You are?" I asked.

He chuckled and said, "Sorry miss I didn't introduce myself. My name is Steve I have been here since the 1920's."

"Well Steve," I said. "No I do not need all this food but I could not decide what I wanted and now I have options for food for this week."

"Smart," He said. "Do you think that you will take long to remodel the house?"

Laughing I said, "This is going to be a project Steve. I can say this will take at least a year or two between sorting, cleaning, pricing and remodeling."

He faded away and I grabbed a plate placing various foods on it. Placing the leftovers in the fridge I took the food to the TV room and put on a show. I called out, "Your welcome to watch the TV with me if you want while I eat."

Various ghost walked in and found places around the room to watch the show. I watched a few episodes of the show I had been watching on YouTube and when I was finished I said, "I am going to wash my plate and head to bed. Do you want me to leave it on for you to watch?"

An older man said, "Please dear can you find us any cowboy movies?"

A young woman said, "I would like a cooking show."

Another said, "I would love to watch a mystery show."

"Okay everyone," I said. "I am going to make a playlist. It will show a variety of shows so you can come and go. Does that sound alright to all of you?"

They all agreed and I made a long playlist so everyone could watch a different type of show. Going into the kitchen I washed my plate and I headed to my room. Taking a quick shower I got dressed and climbed into my bed putting on my television and started to watch a cryptid documentary. Falling asleep I was in a sound sleep until my alarm went off at seven the next morning.

******************************************************************************
Waking up the next morning I went to the kitchen and started a pot of tea. Getting a slice of pizza out I heated it up in my air fryer. Taking my tea and my pizza into the office I opened the laptop and saw I had some sales in the store. I laughed that everyone wanted immediate pickup. I emailed them and started that I was free this morning all they had to do is respond to when they want to pick up. I stood up and grabbed the box of white gift bags I had for items. Verifying that all the payments processed I wrote the name of the buyer on the bag. Then I placed all the items in the correct bag and placed them on a card table in the gate house. I sent everyone an email that all the items were ready for pickup and provided google voice phone number for the buyers to arrange pick up.

Slowly I started to get responses and I would respond as I worked on the next months ghost hunt schedule. As it was Thursday I set up hunts to start on Monday the 13th of October. through November 1st. After those dates were placed in the sale page and I had timers set for the sales I went to my room to get ready for the day. When I finished getting ready I heard the doorbell ring for the first pick up. Going to the door I had my clipboard ready for the buy to sign and opened it.

A young man sat there and said, "I am here to pick up my order. My name is martin mitchel."

"One moment," I said turning to the table. I picked up his bag and said, "Please sign here."

"What is this?" He asked.

"Well as these are online sales people like to do chargebacks," I said. "Besides video footage that shows you were here you signing this states that you picked up the item which means the sale cannot be reversed."

"What happens if I do not sign this?" He asked.

"I take the item and relist it," I said. "You will be refunded and banned from buying any other item. The items posted yesterday were from a crate in my office. I barely scratched the surface with what is being sold."

He placed his hand out and signed the form. I handed him his bag and he left. Walking back to the kitchen I filled a water bottle and headed back to the office. Until lunch my day consisted of posting five to ten items, checking for sales and appointments and bagging up items as I continued to go through everything. By the time it was two in the afternoon for lunch most of my orders were picked up and I had made a dent in the office. When it was lunch time I grabbed a salad and sat down to eat at the computer. Verifying the appointments starting on Monday I posted an update on the blog that no new times will be added at this time. I bagged up all the sales I had till then and posted any new sales will not be able to be picked up until after noon the next day. Sending pick up instructions for what had sold I replied to responses as I got the items to be shipped ready and packaged. I scheduled a pick up the next morning with Fedex for the shipped items. The last of the items were picked up by three thirty that day and I went to the office and worked on a file of paperwork. Shredding papers I did not leave anything to chance and kept very few papers sparingly. I filed the signatures of pickup and continued on after reading each and every paper.

Looking for evidence of Uncle Richards crimes. When I was done with a few piles of papers and took the shredded papers to the garbage outside I went back in and continued to go through crates or move items in laundry baskets to the correct rooms they should go into. I came across a crate from my house and when I opened it I found stuff I had bought for my cancelled wedding. I made quick work of pricing the items and placing them in a bin. With everything that was in the bins I discovered that there was not one bin full yet to stack up. Looking at the clock I saw that it was going on six at night. I bagged up the items that sold since I closed pick ups for the day. Sending emails with pick up instructions for between two and four the next day. I also discovered I had six more orders for shipping. I packaged up all the items for delivery so they were ready when Fedex came later tomorrow morning.

Organizing everything in the office I grabbed some food from the takeout and went to the TV room to eat. When I sat down more people joined me and  started to watch the TV. Like the night before I set up a play list when I went to go to bed and set the TV on a six hour timer. Going to the kitchen I washed my plate and headed to shower in my room. Going to bed I fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up the next morning I heard knocking on the door. Opening the door, I saw my Grandmother waiting. She laughed when I gave a puzzled look and she said, "Ole Harry can knock. I needed to speak with you."

"Give me a moment to use the bathroom," I said. When I was finished and came out in fresh clothes I asked, "What is going on?"

"You said we have people coming soon," She said. "When will they start?"

"On Monday," I said. "I know today is Friday and it is not a lot of time. However, We need the funds to work on the house. The sale of the items are going to find most of this, but I am building up my savings so when I decide to maybe date someone and start a family I will be able to focus on them."

We walked to the kitchen. I made a cup of tea and heated up some food for breakfast. As I heated up the food I said, "I will be sorting and cleaning for what seems like years. I am hoping the office and attached bathroom will be done by next week. Will it happen? Probably not but it is nice to have a goal. Besides I am hoping to meet some of the spirits as I work on the halls and rooms."

Taking my food and tea I headed to the office. Sitting at my desk I opened my laptop and said, "I hope that things will go smoothly."

She stood next to the door and she said, "Well my dear please do me a favor and do not overdo it."

Smiling I said, "I promise I will not overdo it."

She faded and I loaded my overnight sales and pulled the items that would be shipped. Printing the shipping label and items lists I placed them on the table. After I pulled the items and packed them for shipping I added those packages to the bin for FedEx. Then I printed all the orders for pick up after two and bagged the items. Placing the bags on the shelf I sent the emails that they are ready for pick up. Going to the store I notated that any new orders would not ship out or be ready for pick up until Monday Morning.

Sitting back at the desk I saw a shimmer in the corner. I said, "Hello, Are you ready to say hi?"

A young man around in his teens appeared and said, "I thought I was being sly and hiding."

I pointed to the chair and said, "I knew you were in here since I started the office. I figured I would give you time. What is your name?"

He looked up and said, "My name is Phillip."

"How did you end up being here, Phillip?" I asked.

"Well Miss," He said. "I honestly do not know. I remember that I had come here to deliver a package from the market and I woke up to looking at my body on the floor."

"What year did you pass in Phillip," I asked.

Giving a small smile he said, "1802."

"Would you like me to see if I can find any information on your death?" I asked.

"Can I get back to you on that Miss," He said. "I promise I will let you know when I am ready."

"Deal," I said. If you need anything, let me know."

Phillip faded into the wall, and I wrote a small blurb about Phillip, the first ghost in my office. When I finished that I heard the door bell rang and I went to the door to see Fedex waiting. I opened the door and the driver saw the bin with the packages. He said, "Let me get a bin."

He pulled a bin behind him and scanned the packages for pickup. Going into the office I opened a crate to find more papers. I started to read everything and found a file about Richard that contained a few articles about Richard threatening and harassing some workers at the school. The article states that Richard did assault one of the workers and he only had charges dropped because my great grandparents paid off t he workers. He was only fifteen when this happened. I went into the desk and grabbed a old school file folder. Adding all the evidence into the folder I opened up Yogi and added it to the the top shelf under his head.

๐ŸŽ„The Cursed Town (10 book series)

We watched as the mayor walked over to the land the county wanted to turn into the new jail that resembles the jails of old. Looking at my boyfriend I said, "This is a bad idea, the land has been part of Native American Territory forever. What is the Mayor trying to do?"

"The Mayor is trying to release a curse on the jail and everyone who stays there," A voice said from behind us.

Turning we saw the local chief and I said, "Sir we know there is story of curse. Why would the mayor do this knowing that the people who get put in here be in danger?"

The chief sighed and said, "Greed Maggie. Plain and simple nothing but greed."

Looking at the Mayor and the Chief of police standing on the podium, I turned to the chief and asked, "Sir would you mind if I interviewed you for my blog? I am already on their shit list and I would love to let my readers know the curse."

Hes miled and said, "Meet me at Long Feathers cafe in thirty minutes."

Shaking his hand I said, "I will be there."

As he walked away I turned towards the podium and said, "Apparently I have a audience."

Max sighed as his alarm went off and asked, "Are you sure you are going to be okay? I can tell Dan I will be late."

"Go to work babe," I said. "I will be alright. They know that they cannot touch me or there will be reprecussions."

"Would you play that card?" He asked.

"When I need to," I said. "All it takes is a few posts released to bring down thier empire. Now go Max they are heading this way."

Max kissed my cheek and headed to his truck. He honked as he pulled away as I waved. I heard, "Well Maggie we ar not shocked to see you here. Are you going to be writing about our new jail being built."

Giving my best smile I said, "Of course Mayor Kingston. I will be warning everyone to make sure they stay on the straight and narrow to avoid the curse on the land that you decided to build on."

"Now Maggie," Sheriff Williams said. "You know you should not be posting nonsense like this."

Lowering my voice I said, "With all due respect to both of you, you both are aware that the land is an Indian burial ground and a haunted one at that. Along with everything that happens here in town you would think you both would not want to tempt fate."

Sighing the Mayor said, "Maggie don't be stirring up trouble please."

I chuckled and said, "What trouble Kingston? Do me a favor and tell my Mother that I did not appreciate her trying to rent a hall for a wedding Max and myself do not want. Gentleman I have an interview to do but I will be reaching out to your offices to arrange interviews with both of you after I get my information  in a row."

I walked away and I heard Williamson ask the Mayor, "Did you ever imagine she would cause so much trouble when she was growing up?"

Kingston sighed and said, "No I did not. But she has done nothing wrong Williamson and I do love the girl like she is my own. Besides the books she has written has brought a ton of revenue to the town. I hope that the curse is nothing more than a story because I am still not sure that this is the best spot for it."

Williamson sighed and said, "Only part of the jail will be on the land attached to the curse and that is going to hold the jails kitchen garden and chicken coops. We should be alright. Grow a pair Kingston."

He walks away and Kingston heads towards the city offices. I walked down the road to Long Feather cafe. When I arrived at the cafe, Chief Williamson was sitting at a table waiting for me. He stood up and said, "I am ready to tell you the story."

When we sat down I took out my phone and ask, "Do you mind if I record our conversation?"

"That is fine," He said.

"Thank you," I said. "Shall we start from the beginning?"

He nodded and said, "In the late 1600's there was a camp of Indians on this land. Another Indian tribe decided they wanted the land and the chiefs son had proposed to the chief that he marry one of the chiefs daughters and join the tribe. The chief told him that if any of his daughters wanted to marry him he would consider the proposal. However he would never force his daughters into marriage. This angered the chiefs son. The day came where the chief introduced his daughters. The son looked at the four daughters and they went into a tent and spoke amongst themselves. The oldest daughter who had lost her husband to a hunting accident had offered to marry the son. The chief talked to the son and stated that his oldest daughter had agreed. He stated she had been married before however her husband had died in a hunting trip. The son agreed to the union and the ceremony date was set. The son seemed happy of the marriage and the day of the ceremony he arrived in joyful spirits. Both of the chiefs spoke about how they would split the land and work as a new tribe. After the ceremony while the tribes celebrated the son sat with his new wife. When the chiefs took turns making speeches everyone celebrated. The next morning when the son and his new bride woke up, they came out to a massacre. They went looking for his wifes family and found two of her sisters dead and her younger sister severely injured. They then went to look for both of the fathers. Both the chiefs were found injured along with many braves. Her father said in the early hours, a war party ran through the camp and killed many people from both tribes. When the son asked who they were, neither father knew."

"What happened next?" I asked.

"The son took charge while both fathers were tended to. He arranged for the burning of the dead. You could see the sorrow on his face. His wife joined him when he was praying, and he took her hand, saying, I will always protect you," He said as he took a sip of his water.

I asked, "How did the curse come about?"

"As time went on, the two tribes did join fully and they had a time of peace," He said. "The happy couple took over the running of the tribe and soon had children. However, the son still prayed for answers about his wedding night."

๐ŸŽ„The Storm (4 book series)

They said a hurricane was coming on the news. As Floridians me and my boyfriend had learned to keep more than enough supplies on hand to get through even if it was just rice and beans. Our hidden room was our preppers station and it was so full our pantry also was a over flow for everything we could not fit in prepper room. We live a simple life but we are also prepared for whatever we may have to face. Our home sits in the country with the house backed up to a stone hill. Rare for our parts but we are thankful as we believe that this hill is what has protected us from many storms. God said he would never send another flood like the one he did with Noah. He never said anything about cataclysmic storms. This is our story of how we weathered the storms of the century and how we survived.

We were getting ready for our day a week before the storm was to hit. I had put the news on to listen to as I packed my partners bag for work in the kitchen. He had come into the room and I was watching the weather report. He asked, "Grace are you alright?"

"Yeah," I said. "Did you see the news reports they say a hurricane is coming through the gulf this weekend."

He watched the screen for a few and whistled as he said, "Well I guess we will be prepping this weekend then. Thankfully we have a lot of supplies in the preppers room and pantry. I will go around our two acres and cut limbs this weekend. Then we will have wood in case the power goes out. We can also get more gas to add to the generator room incase we lose power. What are your plans for today?"

"I am not scheduled to teach till Monday," I said. "I think I will get ahead of the storms and go to some of the stores we shop at and load up on supplies. If the freezers are packed then they will hold if we lose power and run them sparingly with the generator. I will also pick up extra blades for the chainsaw and pet supplies for us and the barn animals."

He stopped and asked, "Do you have a bad feeling about this storm?"

As the hair rose on my arms I said, "Yeah I do. Call it my spider sense but I have a bad feeling something dangerous is coming."

He nodded and said, "Well we have the money stock up on everything for us and the animals. I am glad we have the money to do it. Try to stock up on extra water as well if we do not use it now we will use it up eventually."

I finished packing his bag and drove him to work. Matt could not drive for health reasons so it was our morning routine even if I had to have him there between four and seven every morning. When I dropped him off at the shop we sat talking with his boss. His boss Sean asked, "Did you see the news report about the storm?"

Matt said, "Yes we did we are battening down the hatches this weekend if I do not have work and Grace has a feeling about the storm so she is gonna be doing supply runs early just in case."

Sean nodded and said, "My Grandma feels the same way her and Elsie are going to stock up the house today and over the weekend. Grace what are you thinking?"

"I think its going to be a beast of a storm," I said. "You know I went to school for meteorology and something doesn't sit right with me. Since I am not teaching online today I am going to load up everything for us and the animals and probably most of the weekend."

Sean laughed and said, "Prepare for the worst and pray for the best. I get that you may want to get the food grade buckets from the restaurant outlet before everyone thinks the same thing."

Chuckling I looked at my phone and said, "That is the first store I was going to. I hope they do not put a cap on everything because I am going to be buying a lot."

Matt leaned over giving me a kiss and said, "Be safe out there and I will call you thirty minutes before I am ready to leave."

Nodding I got back in the truck and headed to the restaurant store. When I pulled up the lot was almost empty. Going in the clerk smiled and said, "Welcome your the first did you have an order?"

"No," I said. "I am here to get food grade buckets with lids and other storage, such as mason jars."

She nodded and said, "You saw the news report about the storms."

"Storms?" I asked.

"Yes there is one coming into the gulf now that is supposed to hit next weekend and three more right after her," The clerk said.

"Jesus," I said. "Well I am gonna stock up the house for sure than. I may have to do a few trips to the car."

She nodded and said, "Its what I plan on doing all weekend. We are limiting it to one cart per person but you can come back in as many times as you need for now as we are slow."

Taking my flat cart I headed to the aisle with the food storage and called Matt. He answered and asked, "Hey Grace are you alright?"

"Yeah," I said. "Are you in the truck with Sean?"

"Yeah we are in the van," He said.

"Put me in speaker," I said.

Sean yelled to everyone to quiet for a minute before he said, "Grace what's going on?"

"Its not one storm," I said. "The first storm is supposed to hit next weekend and she is bringing three of her friends."

Matt asked, "What does that mean Grace?"

"We need to batten down the hatches now," I said. "Sean you need to secure the shop and the sheds and everyone needs a plan. Once this starts, its going to be bad. The last time something like this happened the storms hit Texas in the forties."

Mack asked from the van, "Grace how bad was it back then?"

"Catastrophic damage," I said. "This was before the coastline was built up. This storm is projected to hit anywhere from St Pete to the panhandle. All the other storms will daisy chain its way right after her feeding off the storm before it."

Matt asked, "What are you saying Grace?"

"Do you remember the Damage from Hurricane Ian?" I said. "That times ten. I am gonna call Bill and see what he is going to announce on the news."

Sean said, "Grace keep us posted and let us know."

Hanging up, I called my old mentor and uncle Bill. He picked up and said, "Gracie love I figured I would hear from you today?"

"Hey Uncle Bill," I said. "You know why I am calling."

He sighed and said, "Gracie let me put you on speaker I am here with the governors office now. Everyone this is my Niece Grace she is a online professor with her doctorate in Meteorology. Grace I am the science man you want to give the explanation you would give your class?"

As I started to shop I said, "Good morning, everyone as my uncle said I am a professor and I am located in central Florida. This weather event forming is a bad one. The last time something like this happened was in the forties and southern Texas was devastated. This was before the coast built up. It will be worse than Katrina and Ian combined and anywhere north of our state will be affected as well."

I heard a voice asked, "What are we looking at damage wise?"

"Catastrophic," I said. "Basically, the Governor needs to put us under a state of emergency and round up every emergency agency to get ahead of this. Mandatory evacuation on all beaches and low lying areas. Start preparing shelters and getting people to safety. Has a hurricane research plane been sent in yet?"

Uncle Bill said, "It's en route now."

"Well I am doing my storm prep now and this weekend," I said. "People need to do so now. Sand bagging stations also need to be opened now and run through the following week. We need to start the emergency operation and not wait. It will save millions."

A voice in the room asked, "How can you be so sure?"

"History and Science, plus my spider sense is tingling, I have never been wrong," I said. "Uncle Bill I have my first cart loaded and have to go through checkout Call me if you need more assistance. Ladies and gentleman I am a born and bred Floridian, do the right thing because this storm system is going to be bad."

Uncle Bill said, "Listen for your phone Grace and keep your ear piece in I am gonna need you for this."

"Sure thing," I said.

I went through check out and a man came over to me. He said, "Miss I am sorry to bother you. I am the manager of the store. I over heard your call you were on do you really think it is going to be that bad?"

"Yes," I said. "I looked at the radar views that I have access to due to my uncle Bill before I called him. Prepare now if you can because once it hits, it's going to be bad and the roads will become impassible. I am a low key prepper and I am going to every store I can this weekend because its going to get very chaotic out there. Can I shop here more, or do I need to go to the next."

He smiled and said, "You are the only one here for now, so continue to shop as many times as you wish I am gonna go call my wife and tell her to do the same. Thank you for being honest with me."

"I am sure there will be a special announcement from the Governor soon," I said. "If you have family on this coast, round up the wagons and get everyone to safety."

Making another three trips into the store, I almost filled up my SUV. Driving over to the other side of the plaza I went to the Dollar tree that had opened as Uncle Bill called through. Answering I said, "Please tell me they are listening?"

"They are," He said. "The Governor is issuing a state of emergency this afternoon and all schools will be closed by Wednesday of this week to start expanding shelters. They saw the science Grace, will you be able to assist from home?"

"As long as I have power and internet yes," I said. "You know, after noon today it's going to be crazy. Where are you going to be?"

"Aunt Mina and the dogs are joining me at our apartment in Tallahassee," He said. "She is hiring people to move everything to the third floor as she packs up the house. We have not had a flood in eighteen years, but we are not going to take any chances. It's too many antiques to move to the apartment but she is getting everything started now and bringing the stuff that could be damaged, including the art collection. She is picking up Grandma from the nursing home in the morning."

"That was my next question, I am glad you will have her," I said. "Let me call Matt and let him know things are about to go sideways."

He chuckled and said, "Sideways is an understatement. Listen, get as much gas as you can now for your generator. I know you have those four freezers. Fill them to the brim Tetris them and then stick water  bottle cases on them. They should all hold as long as you run them for an hour or two each every twelve hours do not open them or your fridge unit unless you need them. Matt ran the generator lines right?"

"He sure did," I said. "We have everything ready to go. Give Aunt Mina my love."

"Sure will," He said.

We hung up and I called Matt. He answered and said, "You're on speaker, Grace."

"Get your families in the store now, everyone," I said. "We go state of emergency by noon today. The Governor will be having a press conference with Uncle Bill. Schools will be closed by Wednesday shelters will be opening then. I am on call and everyone my Uncle said to get gas as soon as possible and fill your cans and store them. Matt, I have four cans in my SUV now and will fill them I am buying more as long as I can, and will be filling the shed and four barrels in the shed."

Matt said, "Be safe, and when you get home, get your sidearm for safety. Once the state of emergency hits its going to be chaos if people take it seriously and I want you to protect yourself."

Sean said, "We will be ending work early, and I have been calling all clients this morning, so limited work the rest of the following week. We will be finishing what we had to here and coming home early."

"Okay, keep me posted," I said. Filling my cart to the brim with supplies, I went to check out and brought the supplies to the SUV and went back in to finish shopping the store. When I was finished I walked over to Bath and Bodyworks to load up on their candles. When I was done I swung through the Chick-fil-A drive-through and then to the gas station next door to fill the gas cans I had grabbed earlier that day. Since I could fit a few more gas cans in my truck, I went inside the gas station and bought four more big ones, filling them before heading home.

Once I got home I grabbed all the frozen and went to the freezers downstairs. Opening the first freezer I moved items around packing in the items I had with me and moving things from the next freezer to fill it completely. Once I was done I placed four cases of water to weight down the lid. Going outside I bought in the food storage bins, buckets and containers as well as all the mason jars I purchased. Bringing in all the supplies and food items I placed them on the dining room table, leaving the kitchen table empty. Once the truck was empty, I emptied all the gas cans into the barrels, checking the levels. Throwing the empty cans back in the truck, I added five more and went to the farm supply store. Grabbing a clipboard to place an order I handed the form to the clerk and she said, "Hey Grace its gonna be around an hour till we can get this ready. Do you mind?"

"Nope the truck is unlocked," I said. "Are you going to charge the card I have on file?"

"Sure am," She said.

"Perfect I am going to walk the plaza," I said. "Everything should fit in the bed of the SUV. I will move the gas cans to the second row and my packages to the back seats. If you need more room add to the seats, but you shouldn't. I am sure I will be back here again later."

"Want us to lock it once we are done?" She asked.

"Please, I am at the end of the pick-up line, so I would appreciate that," I said.

Then the state of emergency was announced. I watched the conference from TV in the feed store. I said, "So it begins."

The manager asked, "Grace, how bad is it going to be?"

"Batten down the hatches and get your family off the beach area," I said. "Once it starts it going to stay bad until the fourth storm comes through."

Grabbing my foldable cart I went to all the stores in the plaza shopping for supplies. When I had finished the last store I went back to my SUV and saw they had packed me up and placed the gas cans in the back. Going back in the store I shopped for a few more items and went back to the house with another full SUV. The rest of the day I went to farm stores and regular stores stocking up the house with supplies and getting gas each time I was out. Knowing Matt would be calling soon as I went to leave for my last run, I added every gas can we owned to the bed of the SUV and started to shop at the local shops.

I was in a discounted food store shopping when Matt called. He said, "Hey babe if you can head my way to get me I will shop with you."

"Alright," I said. "Let me check out from where I am, and we can brave Walmart." I hung up to him laughing as I headed to check out.

Looking at the clock I saw it was going on three in the afternoon. When I pulled into the shop Matt walked up to the truck and said, "Tomorrow is going to be a short day in the morning we are all going to come out and get the shop ready for the storm and then we will be only going to small repair jobs but Sean said he would grab me for the small jobs."

Nodding I said, "It's alright I will be doing the same thing again tomorrow."

"Well," He started when my phone rang. "Answer it I will be ready to go in five."

Answering my phone I said, "Hello uncle Bill."

"Grace, I am in the office of the Governor," He said. "I know you are out and about can you give me a gauge on how things are now that the state of emergency was announced?"

"It is getting crazy," I said. "I am on my way to get Matt. Then we are going to brave Walmart and a few smaller stores. I am carrying my gun with me now."

"Grace what do you think about the possibility of these storms becoming a super storm?" He asked. "That was what your thesis was on."

"From the data I have seen so far," I said. "There is a three percent possibility. "If it were to happen it would be with storms three and four. If this happens, will might see our first cat 6 ever."

Sighing we finished the call and I ran to the bushes and got sick. Matt ran over to me and pulled my hair back as he rubbed my back. He asked, "What is it, Grace?"

Sean handed me a bottle of water and after I drank some I said, "We could see a possibility of a category 6 super storm."

Sean looked confused and said, "I thought it stopped at a cat 5."

"With Katrina and Ian Cat 5 was stopped at 175 miles per hour," I said. "Anything over that is a cat 6."

All the guys said, "Shit."

Elsie pulled up and handed Sean a bank bag. He handed all his workers a pile of cash, saying, "This was gonna be your quarterly bonus. I think you need this now, though."

Everyone's wives and girlfriends started pulling up. Most had plans to stock up as best they could. Matt and Sean made plans for the next day, and we went to Walmart. I said, "wow this is insane."

The parking lot was full and people were coming in and out of the store. Matt said, "We will get two carts and get supplies then food. I have a feeling they are going to place limits on everything soon. We went in through garden and headed to get the supplies we needed. When we got to the food section Matt said, "They pulled pallets. Let us try to get non perishable for now. Then we will hit dairy and such."

We filled our carts and got in line. I looked at him and said, "After this we should hit the pharmacys and smaller stores. I have a feeling this is going to be every store we go to."

Nodding I said, "You are right."

We finished check out and headed to the SUV. We had parked out towards the back of the parking lot. We saw police everywhere to keep the peace. Matt whispered, "Smart."

We finished filling the SUV and headed to the gas station. Filling up all the cans Matt said, "How much gas did you get today?"

"I filled two of the barrels in the shed and made sure the padlock was secure," I said. "We need to fill the others and buy as many gas cans that we can buy."

We got to the gas station and Matt ran in and bought six more gas cans. I was filling the ones we had and then the ones he opened for me. After I filled my tank to full, we headed home. As I started to bring in the groceries, he went to the shed with the gas cans. When I got half of the groceries in he came back and said, "All the barrels are full. After we get the perishables away, let us take a quick drive and see how many cans we can buy and fill. We are officially loading the shed with cans on the shelves now.

We went to a few gas stations and out-of-the-way mom and pop stores where we also shopped. By the time we got home, we had filled all the cans and added them to the shed. Thankfully, our shed is twenty feet away from our home with nothing surrounding or it. Part of it was buried underground with a small set of stairs. The generator was in a side shed next to the house. Matt came in after placing the cans in the shed and locking it up. He said, "I will get the generator started again in the morning to make sure there are no issues. Since we run it weekly, it should be ready to go."

"Why don't you go start it now?" I said. "I can get this stuff put up until you get inside."

"You sure?" He asked.

"Yes, in case we need to get anything for it this week," I said. "Better safe than sorry."

While Matt double-checked the generator, I grabbed bag after bag and put them in the pantry and emergency supply room. Twenty minutes later Matt came in and said, "It is good to go. I placed an order at lowes for additional supplies for it, in case we need them. We can pick them up tomorrow."

Sitting on a chair I said, "That is a good idea. Matt, if this gets bad, there is going to be state wide destruction. You all will be busy getting cleanup jobs."

Matt gave a low chuckle and said, "Well, there is that, I guess."

I yawned and said, "You know I do not feel like cooking tonight. Do you want to go to Oshays and get takeout?"

He said, "That sounds good there is a bulk store in the plaza. We can park there and I will go get the food and you can go in and get some more non-perishables."

We grabbed our wallets and my keys. Getting in the SUV, we headed to the Irish pub and diner. Matt said, "I will get some of our favorites and will meet you in the bulk store. We both turned to go to our respective stores. Walking in I noticed that the store was empty and chuckled to myself. I said to myself, "I guess no one is taking these storms seriously."

The manager heard me and said, "I would have thought we would be busy as well. People are not taking this storm seriously."
